LENNY TARGETS CONQUERORS

NEIL LENNON has welcomed the opportunity to gain revenge on Celtic’s Champions League conquerors Cluj.

The Romanians ended the Hoop’ interest in the elite European competition with a 4-3 win at Parkhead following a 1-1 draw in the first leg.

Lennon’s side got lost in a maze of mistakes in front of their own fans as they blundered to a sensational loss after holding the advantage THREE times against Dan Petrescu’s outfit.

Cluj managed to get through, but ran out of luck in the play-offs where they lost home and away to Slavia Prague to topple out of the top tournament on a 2-0 aggregate.

The Scottish title kings will also also face Rennes, with whom they drew 0-0 in a pre-season friendly in Glasgow last month, and Serie A side Lazio.

The Bhoys gaffer, speaking to the Daily Record, said: “It’s a great draw.

“There are a couple of glamour games there and obviously a chance to maybe exact some sort of retribution to Cluj, as well.

“Rennes are a good side, they won the Cup last season, which is no mean feat beating Paris Saint-Germain in the Final. They have some very talented, quick players.

“And, of course, Lazio is a great draw, very glamorous and a trip to Rome, as well. That’s something everyone here will look forward to.”
