CELTIC have been told Carlisle’s asking price for centre-half Jarrad Branthwaite.

The struggling League Two outfit are reported to be ready to accept £800,000 for the 17-year-old defender, as CQN reported two months ago.

Everton made an offer of £500,000 last week which was knocked back by the club who are fourth from the foot of England’s bottom tier.

The club will reluctantly agree a cut-price fee for their hottest property, but they are not interested at the cash on offer from the Goodison Park side.

Hoops boss Neil Lennon has received good reports about the teenager and have been keeping tabs on him start the start of the season.

Coincidentally, Branthwaite was given his first-team debut by former Parkhead centre-half Steven Pressley in March last year before the former Scotland international was sacked as manager in October.

According to various reports, Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea, Watford and Leicester City are also monitoring the situation with Bundesliga side Red Bull Leipzig credited with an interest, too.
