LENNY’S DOUBLE TRANSFER BOOST

FRASER FORSTER and Mohamed Elyounoussi WILL be allowed to extend their loan periods at Celtic, a report has claimed.

The towering goalkeeper and the Norwegian international forward are due to return to parent club Southampton when their season-long temporary transfers expire at Parkhead at the end of June.

However, the uncertainty created by the coronavirus pandemic lockdown has thrown football into chaos and decisions have yet to be made about the future of season 2019/20.

The unprecedented worldwide situation has cast uncertainty over the futures of out-of-contract players – including loanees such as Forster and Elyounoussi.

However, the St Mary’s outfit are willing to allow the pair to extend their stays at the Hoops, according to a report on talkSPORT.

MASTER MARKSMAN…Mohamed Elyounoussi heads in the opening goal against Hibs in Celtic’s 5-2 Betfred Cup semi-final win.

GLORY GOALIE…Fraser Forster dives to his right to deny Alfredo Morelos from the penalty spot in the 1-0 victory in the silverware shoot-out.

Forster, in his second-time around in the east end of Glasgow, has once again become a firm favourite with the fans and was the club’s Man of the Match with an unbeatable display in the Betfred League Cup Final against Steven Gerrard’s side where he saved an Alfredo Morelos penalty-kick only four minutes after Christopher Jullien’s strike for the encounter’s only goal on on the hour mark at Hampden on December 8.

Elyounoussi claimed two goals in the side’s 5-2 semi-final victory over Hibs the previous month, but lasted only 45 minutes in the silverware showdown as he continued to struggle with the foot injury sustained on international duty in November.

The Morocco-born raider has netted seven times in his 20 appearances and his progress certainly stalled following his broken toe injury.

However, both on-loan stars are seen as vital to Neil Lennon’s first-team squad, despite the campaign being forced to make an emergency halt with the champions heading for their ninth successive title with a 13-point advantage at the Premiership pinnacle with only eight games to play and a Scottish Cup semi-final against Aberdeen also due.
