FORMER Celtic boss Neil Lennon has been sacked after just THREE months in charge of Rapid Bucharest.
The axe has fallen on the Irishman after he failed to win any of his six league games at the Romanian club, drawing five and losing one.
Lennon, who had two stints in charge of the Hoops, made the surprise move to Bucharest in May after being out of football for over a year.
HAPPIER TIMES…Neil Lennon welcomed to Rapid Bucharest in May.
The pressure piled on the 53-year-old Irishman practically from the kick-off and he was forced to come out in public recently and insist he had no intention of quitting, according to a report in the Scottish Sun.
However, the Rapid hierarchy acted swiftly to end his brief stay at the club and said in a statement: “Today, Neil Lennon and FC Rapid decided to go their separate ways.
“We thank Neil and his staff for their commitment and professionalism, and we wish them continued success.”
It was a turbulent period in Lennon’s career with the manager hitting out last week at the “levels of absurdity” surrounding his team after being questioned on an alleged fall-out with a former player.
The ex-Hoops gaffer brought in 12 new faces to the club in a whirlwind summer with Celtic back-up keeper Benji Siegrist as one of his recruits.
Lennon left Parkhead for the second time in February 2021 and took over at Cypriot club Omonia Nicosia in March 2022 before leaving seven months later.
