Lessons for Ronny, a shout for Hearts

There’s a wee lesson for Ronny Delia in not conceding ground too quickly after the final whistle. On first pass, TV pictures suggested Dedryck Boyata failed to make contact with the ball at Hamilton on Friday, it was only when Ronny saw pictures from the opposite angle, that he realised the player timed his challenge to the inch.

Unfortunately, this was after the manager’s post-match TV appearance, when he accepted the referees decision. No matter if you’ve seen an incident or not, it’s better to be circumspect than to dive in with a definitive comment immediately after a game. Whatever the outcome of Boyata’s appeal, at least referee Craig Thomson can be absolved from blame for making the same mistake as Ronny Deila.

There’s a big midweek card coming up in the Premiership. I’m hoping Hearts find form tonight against Inverness. If they win they are as close to Aberdeen (6 points, with same games played) as the Dons are to Celtic, with a better goal difference too. Aberdeen and Hearts have to play each other twice before the end of the season, my preference would be these games have a very competitive edge.

Speaking of Hearts, I was slightly uncomfortable with their statement regarding the racist abuse dished out to Kilmarnock player, Josh Magennis, “To clarify, this allegation does not involve the player’s colour, religion or sexuality”.  Is there a pecking order of bigotry I’m not aware of which deems anti-Irish abuse a lesser-offence?

Bobby Evans was peerless at CH.

The one player he couldn’t handle was Jimmy Millar, of Them.

However, when he was out with his back injury, 17 year old Billy stepped in.

Millar spent the rest of his RFC career in big Billy’s pocket.

The one player he couldn’t handle was the elegant Andy Kerr, a converted right back, playing for Kilmarnock.

    Doesn’t look like I’ll need a calculator.

I was wondering if the Arsenal ST holders will rejoice in the news that their over inflated ST prices have made them the team with the biggest reserves of money in world footie

The Arsenal version of our PL must go and take the whole board with them was the cry from the old Hghbury faithful

Celtic Park 1-0 to the hun.

    Jimmy Millar scored for them.

    A sair one.

Left the Celtic end to a hail of bottles from the assembled masses on the embankment.

    Happy days.

The problem is in the question of how Celtic reacted to RFC(IL) situation.

IMO,they acted correctly. Bit their tongue-don’t want to be triumphalist or to be seen as kicking an opponent on the ground,etc-and more importantly, due process would do the talking anyway.

I know there are some who predicted the outcome-THE EXILED TIM,for one-but the laws are there for a reason.

    They apply to all.

That it seems the huns have been able to turn those laws on their head, circumvent every due process known to Man and finest legal brains,is NOT the fault of Celtic.

Indeed, had we put the boot in,what we are seeing now would be presented as just reward for our deeds.

What we ARE seeing now is shocking. Rangers are recognised as they were before, supported as never before from within and without. And we are imploding.

I honestly don’t know what the club could have done differently in this regard, but the outcome has been civil war amongst OUR support.

    Not theirs.

Sickens me to my core and I see no way out of it.

There is merit in Mr Pastry,s suggestion of cutting our crowd capacity if we are to remain in The Scottish league.

I would imagine that most will be thinking what you are thinking. Unfortunately a new manager will not change many fans opinion but ironically Sevco might.

Please don’t chuck it,mate. We can have disagreements about off-field things-we always have,as Celtic fans.

But Celtic is ON the park.

A large section of the Arsenal fans have been calling for the removal of Wenger and new direction-at least!-from the board for years.

Nothing new. Fans don’t like failure,no matter how it’s dressed up.

  14. BMCUW

The Arsenal fans don’t like failure , no matter how it is dressed up.

They sure don’t show it then with a mega high percentage of ST renewals year after year and a reported waiting list of about 45k.

Can anyone find a link from when NTV hired a private detective and found a referee had been jailed whilst having a day out at an orange walk?

  19. paul67.

I watched the game on T/V the first thing I thought was a booking but when I saw the replay I couldn’t believe the ordering off, terrible decision by Thompson.

I can’t believe that our players shake the referees hand after a game, they should teach every player the masonic hand shake, before game starts they shake each others hand,a masonic hand shake from some of our players may confuse the Masonic refs. and punishments may be lighter. as if.

By the way you have mail.

    I`m sorry to say.

  24. Going to be a cold one tonight, thermals, woolly hat, gloves, bit of cardboard (keep the auld plates warm) and the scarf Roon the nose, looking forward to the game, I like watching Dundee play, not hammer throwers, football players makes a change, then of course we have who ever the ref. Is? Prob. Another fecking roaster. Mon the hoops.

  25. Reading CQN is depressing. Non stop complaints, people chucking it left right & centre. All the jelly & ice cream scoffed over recent years hasn’t done the digestion system much good.

I can only speak for myself, when I woke up this morning and realised that Celtic were playing this day, I fairly bounced out of the bed. (that is if a 68 yr old can really bounce).

Today is a miserable enough day here, Golf Courses all waterlogged, nothing much happening but Celtic are playing tonight and that’s me sorted for the day.

  26. Fair play, Cork Celt.

I dont expect anything to change but I hope im wrong. H.H.

  28. Lol, John Beaton, I thought that was a mate of mine that’s his name, but you meant the ref. Haha, ok, thanks. I’m saying hello John how you doin, a I never looked at who posted it, PM loosing it a think.

  29. Apparently….. Galatasaray have been suspended from European competition for one year for breaching financial fair play rules, according to Turkish news reports.

European football’s governing body Uefa said in January that the Turkish champions had broken regulations on the permitted level of financial losses, paving the way for a potential ban.

Aside from more local comparisons, seems that UEFA are able to cast a blind eye to larger clubs, but pick on one that no-one will really mind getting hit.
