Lessons learned from Friday experiment

828

After every experimental line-up (such as Friday’s), it’s tempting to ask what the manager learned from the experience.

The partnerships on the left and right wings didn’t look right.  Emilio Izaguirre didn’t overlap as often as usual and Stuart Armstrong was less effective than normal.  A lack of space impacted the James Forrest-Adam Matthews partnership on the right.  Forrest was manhandled until he switched left or got inside the box, when he was able to play unhindered.

Ineffectiveness on the wings led to the same up front.  Anthony Stokes doesn’t get to play centre forward too often and didn’t really get much of a chance on Friday.  Stokes anonymity was the most glaring aspect of the game but I suspect the responsibility lies elsewhere.

While I agree Craig is the best ( short term ) goalkeeper of my lifetime .. He must be so happy he’s playing for us . At hearts and Sunderland he had worse defences in front of him and much more activity . I am a BIG fan of CG … May he reign for another 5 years

I guess that Gretna are a metaphor for socialism. Spending too much and subsequently going bust.

Love the Anton picture. Just about to head the ball onto Walkers chest, deliberately of course and we still have the enclosure at Ibrox .Can you remember when we had the main stand/enclosure up to the halfway line and also the two end sections of the Govan?Huns couldn’t give us enough of their stadium. That was before they died.

Apologies mate, never mind the tax, the point of my post was Irish folk being offended by the wearing of the Lilley, or the green. Again apologies I should have taken the to explain the post.

4:56 am here. 3/4 of a good bottle of whisky gone and sleep still alludes me and still I don’t feel the need for attention or to offend.

There are many things in life I love, none of them simple, but the most complex thing in my life that I love is my football team and her history and my fellow supporters and their passions and their history and their hopes and their heart felt satisfactions.

As I said earlier I count my blessings and I do try hard to steer clear of politics.

My politics are simple, feed the children, educate the children, look after the elderly and leave me alone.

I eat humble pie today that he signed for us. Just another wee blessing he did. The bhoy is magic. He does himself so proud.

    Loving it.

In off Walkers chest. I had tickets for that game but couldn’t go as I was ill. Had a really bad virus, worse of my life, ended up of work for weeks. Anyway that game was live on T.V. which was not always the case in those days. That game perked me up for a few hours and the guys who I gave the tickets to were shown on t.v. Celebrating like mad after Andy scored. The power of Celtic.

  7. Kitabadi…That last sentence…its just something else….Feed The Children, Educate The Children, Look after the Elderly, Leave Me Alone…Says everything…I WILL remember that Mate…Thankyou….

I watched him after the league cup final .. The most delighted player at the club

I watch his desire for a clean sheet EVERY match and how gutted he is if he concedes one – even if we win

  10. Liked the picture of Harry Hood. One night I was full of the flu. Said to my mum I was going across the road to my pal’s house but really I was going to Hampden. Harry scored 3 that night against another team from Glasgow. It rained the whole night but it was a good night.

thanks for that . I don’t do politics either. I just thought I would point out the reason for the row.

Thank you for taking the time to reply.

I used to stay close to Ibrox in the 80s. When we couldn’t get tickets, 3 of us would go to Ibrox and always bung the turnstile operator to let us in at the govan stand. We would then sit in some of the seats that were empty for segregation. It was clear we weren’t the only ones.

Anyway at one game there was police at every turnstile and we thought we wouldn’t get in. Just as teams were ready to kick off a wee scuffle took place and a policeman left his post, we took our opportunity. At that time it would be about ten pounds for a ticket. Me and my mate offered a tenner and the turnstile operator let us through. My other mate who was last, gave him twenty quid and he was clicked to go through, he asked for a tenner change. The turnstile operator just said do you want in our not. How we slagged our mate. Two for the price of one etc. Celtic won 2.1 a great day. Oldco had started the season terribly and,we taunted them with chants of relegation. Bizarrely I can remember Sandy Clark scored for them near the end but I can’t remember Celtic scorers. I’m away to try and find details.

There are so many icon photo’s of moments in Celtic’s history. I have so many favourites it is hard to know where to begin but suffice to say at this moment in time my screensaver picture is a picture of Craig Gordon getting his cup medal. I know it meant an awful lot to him, it meant equally so much to me too.

All I was trying to illustrate was the farce of offence and how so many try to make coin from it whilst bearing in mind some things, on some days, might be deemed beyond the pale. Even the Dublin pale.
