Lessons learned from Friday experiment

828

After every experimental line-up (such as Friday’s), it’s tempting to ask what the manager learned from the experience.

The partnerships on the left and right wings didn’t look right.  Emilio Izaguirre didn’t overlap as often as usual and Stuart Armstrong was less effective than normal.  A lack of space impacted the James Forrest-Adam Matthews partnership on the right.  Forrest was manhandled until he switched left or got inside the box, when he was able to play unhindered.

Ineffectiveness on the wings led to the same up front.  Anthony Stokes doesn’t get to play centre forward too often and didn’t really get much of a chance on Friday.  Stokes anonymity was the most glaring aspect of the game but I suspect the responsibility lies elsewhere.

    Wilson:

Is he a talker on the pitch. His captaincy would suggest a yes.

Surprised he is Hearts captain at 23 years of age.

    The

Think it’s difficult to gauge a players worth in a lesser team. Best left to RD, who had an eye for a player, fitting into his aspiring team.

  2. Regardless of today, I still think D.Wilson is a good player…. If Denayer and Van Dijk vacate Celtic Park this summer, I wouldn’t be adverse to Wilson being signed.

  3. Ruggeyman….Ask Strachan…Who would you have for Scotland ..Wilson or Mulgrew…it would be Mulgrew…even at centre back…Wilson ..Wayyyy overated…

  4. Delanys Dunky….Not even Under Jose Mourinhos Armani Suit would he be a Player…Overated to the Extreme..

  5. Bgx….

    Ask Strachan, Wilson or Mulgrew….

    Really.

When was last time Strachan played Mulgrew as a centre half.

    Has he ever.?

Excellent, the bush with faces in it was clever, looked like my cat at the bottom right…then again I might be hallucinating…and Delaneys or Petec aren’t even here….

    No offence bhoys:)

    What a lovely voice.

Went to fridge and had the awe naw….one can left..:(((

    Not sure about Danny Wilson.

Seen him a few times against us, and for Scotland, and he didn’t stand out.

We have had a habit of recent years, of letting names of supposed transfer targets float around in the ether, whilst our actual targets are elsewhere.

    We shall see.

  8. Danny Wilson has impressed the Celtic scouts consistently throughout the season and he has been watched often.

Two young Aberdeen boys have also impressed – the number 10 has a “low centre of gravity and is extremely skilful” and the number 9 is “a natural goal scorer” as we found to our cost the last time the teams met.

  9. Ruggeyman…He would play him before Wilson…Wilson cant even get a lookin for Scotland, …he is never better than Mulgrew…Never…And we wont sign Him…100% convinced of that…

Danny Wilson definitely a no no for me.

In fact, the guy who plays alongside him Ozturk looks a better player.

Not that I’d sign him either mind you.

I assume the scouts recognise the level of football he is playing at?

I mean the jury is still out on VVD due the level he is playing at

  12. It’s all speculation…

If he did sign, I’d be willing to give the boy a chance.

Personally, the Liverpool centre half we have been linked with, would be my preference.

  13. Winning Captains…Deila said ..Good player..its nothing more serious than that…although he does fit the bill….rated as a young player…moved to a big team…didnt work out…goes to a smaller team…plays well…GMS…..but na…not for me…

  14. I’ve a feeling we might still have Van Dijk next year.

Van Dijk needs a buyer, and I personally don’t see any Epl team rushing to sign him… I really don’t.

I know your a big chap but by feck how long does it take you to put your Jammies on?

Your mrs will be waiting in bated breath…where’s my Jamesgang…on that Feckin CQN again :))

We had a game last week v Hamilton – As well as the coaching staff for development squad, Ronny turned up with Scott Brown and the manager took a very big interest in what was going on. Celtic have an Irish boy in defence who is huge and impressed the boss. He’s tipped for first team.

Danny Wilson is a Ronny type player. He will be a Celtic player who surprises you when he signs for the club he loves.

Yip, he’s got a good pedigree… Highly rated youngster, just not been able to secure first team games ahead of Skertel

Wilson has nothing about him to suggest he could be a Celtic centre half.

He lacks strength and composure and presence.

I see that Mr.Madden resorted to the Craig Thomson version of the advantage rule in the first half, at 0-0, Walker was through on the keeper on a pass back header, after a Jambo had been clattered by a hun.

He pulled play back for a FK to Hearts.

  21. Either way, I hope we have a partnership in place for when the champs league qualifiers begin.

    Ronny’s planning already.

    In Ronny we trust

On transfer targets, we should put in a bid for Harris Vuckic

About £500k should do the job

  23. Harris Vuckic…

Nah… A poor mans Kris Commons.

    let the newco sign him.

    But they canae

    coz they’re skinto.
