Let King get on with his work!

329

The SFA may well find Dave King not Fit and Proper to be a director of a football club but, if it happens, it will only be a token gesture.  King would be forced to resign as a director of Newco, but he would remain the major shareholder.

There is nothing to stop him activing as a shadow director – exercising all the power but without the legal liabilities.  There is nothing to stop him attending board meetings, or from appointing his own placemen on the board.  Football’s Fit and Proper test is no more than a token curiosity, it is not worthy of the column inches it is regularly attributed.

Newco will remain a basket case as long as King remains in control, as director or otherwise.  There is a chance this will change when he leaves, but no more than that.  For me, anything that inhibits his ability to remain in control is unwelcome.  Never interrupt your enemy when he’s making mistakes, as Napoleon almost said.  Let the man get on with his work!

  1. Once run 10k in 32mins, that was a while ago whilst in SA and super fit

Done the great northern 10k ( Edinburgh) in just over 34mins

  2. Some great posts on the read back on previous thread.

It’s the ads that drove me away – ad blockers worked for a while and the need to spread some positivity after BR left and the nonsense Lenny endured when appointed is what brought me back.

The ads are getting worse again though.

I really cannot see the reason why there are so many. It’s beginning to rival so many sites that I just avoid like MSM.

    Hail Hail and COYBIG 🇮🇪

    💚🍀

  3. I blame Paul 67 for getting me together with the scoundrels ACGR And DELANEYS DUNKY amongst many others, too many to name.

I reckon the blog will kick in again as the season goes on.

Maybe controlling the pop ups and the difficulty on logging on would help.

Personally I’ve not had any problems with it.

  4. Also if you stay permanently ‘signed in’ it cures the mess no posts and re log in issues.

I’m using safari on iPad 9.7 2018 with 2 ad blockers running. Very seldom do I use any other devices for CQN due to the ads.

    Hail Hail 💚🍀

Have you tried it without being in your car yet.😂

Good to here the Irish supporters singing GRACE. 🍀🍀

I was being vague as a courtesy, as not everyone wants their details all over the blog.

Like you I listen to many topics being discussed on the bus,and the level of business knowledge is staggeringly low, as I stated previously, despite hearts being in the right place.

Even at Celtic Park Main Stand long term ST holders you would expect a more informed group, but not so.

    Hail Hail Sips…

    No problems 🤔🤔

What device do you use for CQN?

    ————–

I also have no problem with ads.

Laptop I’m using Firefox, UBlock Origin and NoScript (I don’t see add on any sites)

Phone I’m using Chrome, no adblocker installed, just turned off Javascript

    as she died at birth.

Visited the Greenock CSC many times and was a good friend of John Campbell

who was president back in the 80’s i think, great club and still communicate

    with many of the members.

Are you making the An Gorta Mor night in the kerrydale, looking forward to it, hope to catch up with a few old faces. 😂🍀

  10. Melbourne Mick were you born in the Castle, where the training ground is now, or in the village itself? My father was the Irish born member of my family.

  11. MELBOURNE MICK on 12TH OCTOBER 2019 2:48 PM

Born in Lennoxtown too due to the baby boom in the sixties.

Mind my Ma telling me how she was having a bath and someone was tapping the window saying… I can see you.

As you will know there was some strange people allowed to wander about there.

  12. Melbourne Mick,

    Yer a Superstar.

Being a Celtic Supporter is a blessing. That means accepting others that are way aff yer own thinking.

Yes in the castle, and it doesn’t make good reading, but there it is.

  14. What drives posters away…..hmmmm

I posted a tale recently about a racist and it was deleted. I wasn’t racist, the subject of the tale was……but it was deleted. I asked whoever deleted it to let me know why but I never got a reply. My thinking is if you post something, anything that’s deemed “bad”, or, if it MIGHT offend some snowflake it will be removed without a reason being given. It will get to the stage where the mere mention of a name or event will offend some arsehole and the post will be removed. God forbid you relate a news story about racism/bigotry/homophobia or whatever, some choob will find something to be offended by. I could if I choose, dissect every post on here and find something to be offended by and ask it to be removed. I might just try that……,,

  15. 31003….I just posted an informed (hopefully) appraisal of the performance issues, adverts etc….I don’t think it has appeared as I have been informed that it is awaiting moderation….WOW!

    So that’s me told.

    Hail Hail and bye bye

    Matt

  16. 31003

I remember seeing you asking about a deleted post about a week ago? I hadn’t seen original post. Subsequently I saw a post about it from Paul67 (yes, a post!) along the lines of sweary words with asterisk are still sweaty words, the reason for the deletion. Apologies if I’ve mixed up your deletion with someone else’s.

I’d add that I thought that reason for a deletion was inconsistent at best as I’ve seen many similar posting styles over the years. But glad you e posted today ya auld b***a*d ;-)

  17. 31003,

It will then become an ever decreasing circle.

    Dinnae dae that.

Ryan must be the fittest player in Scotland or is just mega eager to please the crowd.

What Celtic fan would twitter to Ryan that he’d shut it down (no Celt should be on that trap)?

Have a private wan for sure.

Ryan has rocked just about Every game – sad any Celtic fan has made him do that – if thats true.

I Love the RC – he just epomises a Celtic midfield player for me.

  18. Sips

The 32 mins was actually just under 33, but started with 32

Likewise the 34, nearer 35, but started with 34

    Sounds better 🤔😂😂

Seen Delaney’s was out with your pal the Bhoy Jinky last week 👍

  19. Jobo

No sweary words involved that I can remember. The reason I told it was it was in my mind reverse racism, ie, not white supremacy. Any way…… I found the actual story funny…..just because of that…..a taste of our own medicine so to speak.

You know that paddypower ad on tv with the football manager telling his team tactics “man on man, man on woman…” it’s getting like that on here

  20. 31003 – my apologies, it must have been someone else who also had a post deleted for the reason I described.

  21. Petec

Fear not…..I have no intention of asking for deletions…..I was just being arseholian

  22. Somethings Brewing @ Celtic.

Gdansk is miles away but I got a feeling.

Need the squad to really do it over the next 2 months Domestically.

The location last year suited the 2 teams who contested the Final. Arrogant for sure but a CL place was as big a carrot as winning it itself.

    Shocking sadly.

    Lets do this Neil.🇮🇪

  23. no problem with adds. i use a hp chrome book and add blocker.

Enjoy Dubrovnik. I am 400 miles up the coast in Porec. My first visit in 16 months. Lovely day it has been here.

Going to Mass in the World Heritage site that is the basilica in Porec tonight .

Then Bacchus wine bar and a favourite restaurant to end a perfect day.

    Long live the Dave King.

  25. Matt, You are one of the top posters here, you should flit in more often

Tour talents are appreciated & needed.

  26. Tour should of course read Your, I could blame predictive text but it wasn’t. it was me just hitting the button next door to the Y & then not taking the time to read what I had written.

  27. Some CQN stalwarts/legends posting today.

    Excellent reading guys. Thanks.

I am not the cunning linguist that some are on here.

Phew thank god I got that out before I have a drink.😂

I said to the good lady (well the wife😂) that I was staying off drink for a few weeks.

Feck that I’m aff oot for a pint.

By the way just started watching Spotlight on the troubles, astonishing.

    Hail Hail

  28. Matt @ 3.30

Thanks for the simplified explanation, Matt. Believe me, anything more technical would leave me more bewildered than I am. I too, have seen the message that this site is using significant levels of something and slowing down my Mac.

And the ads and slowdown are the least of it. The site jumps so, if you are typing and do not watch the screen, you will find that your keystroke is not producing a letter in the comments section but is clicking on an Ad that you have no interest in. It takes me ages to type a post now and I then find spell check has made mincemeat of any meaning it may had.

The worst time for me was when 2 similar ads in separate blocks down the left and right hand side of the page decided to march to meet each other and obliterate the complete CQN content for a period.

But, it did not use to be this way. Paul was always adamant that he wanted to refuse to seek payment or subscription to the blog and I can understand his reasons for not wanting to go there. But, if the current restrictions and inconveniences are the result of only being able to afford a Fiat Cinquecento rather than a Volkswagen Golf, then custom will be lost.

We do need better than we currently have. Some techie guys should be able to fix this for us- just don’t bother trying to give too detailed explanations of how you did it :-)

BTW- your own site contains one ad on my screen which reads “City Mum earns $450 Per Hour From Her Couch!”

One can only speculate as to how

    Good luck to you all!

  29. Timhorton , like you I use an Android tablet (LG) and chrome with very little problem with pop ups. Gets out of hand just restart and back to normal. I think most complaints are from Apple users bit I’m no geek so only guessing.

    Marathon runs:

Early 90’s worked on the Claymore. Ran morning/night training for Glasgow Marathon.

Big day. 3 hours 37 minutes still running round in circles in Glasgow Green. Back to drinking Export.running career finished

  30. Fess19,

It mos def isnae just apple users affected, Matt has pinpointed things, hopefully this helps Paul in sorting things out. Not everyone is tech savvy after all – and I include the Young Brigade in that.

  31. Read back to see what abuse was being aimed at Paul. Don’t think there was anything that would keep him awake at night.

If you take out the name calling, the main point is that the blog has become bogged down with ads. That is a fact. It causes the page you are reading to jump about all over the place when using a tablet or a phone.

If you try to write a comment you can’t see what you are writing without scrolling up and down.

Yes, there are workarounds, ad blockers and switching JavaScript off (the latter works fine for me).

But the crux of the criticism by Jimthetim is valid – this has been happening for years now and Paul has not come on and addressed it or explained if he is doing anything to improve it.

I recall in the beginning he would often explain why things went wrong, usually too much traffic for the servers. I guess as a bit more money was invested in the infrastructure he decided to recoup the costs with ads.

I also recall many posters saying they would have been prepared to contribute to the costs of the site to keep it ad free.

In hindsight, that would have been a much better solution.

Many blogs have ads but there are ways of doing it without driving your audience away.

  32. SFTB,

I read about him a while ago. It seems like he is a Natural athlete and definitely has that Donegal gene.

I hope he comes to Celtic Park – to do the draw. ;)
