Let’s have a change

375

Since Martin O’Neill arrived 15 years ago, the number of games Celtic have played with truly no pressure on is less than 30 (or about the same number we played the season before he arrived).  There’s almost always an angle when Celtic take the field, even after the league is won, whether there’s a cup final to prepare for, or a close rival to take on (as last week), or a trophy to collect (as next week).

But not tonight.  Tonight Celtic can take the field with a broader agenda than simply winning the game, we can experiment.  Hopefully we’ll not see players the manager doesn’t want, and there’s little point filling the team full of mainstays of the side.  Tonight is a chance of Darnell to continue his rehab, for Lukasz to give Gordon the night off, for (deep breath) Stefan Scepovic to lead the line!

Big Jason has had a fantastic season, but unless there’s enormous changes in Manchester, he’ll wave goodbye next week, so give Eoghan O’Connell a start.  It’s also an occasion when Ronny might want a look at Tom Rogic.  In fact, I want a look at Tom Rogic.

A change at goalkeeper, right back, central defence, centre mid and striker would give all areas of the team a fresh feel.  Let’s have it.

corkcelt – Reading John Kennedy’s comment this morning there wont be wholesale changes, he reckons only 1 or 2 will come in with Mulgrew on the bench. No idea who the 1 or 2 will be although I’d like to see O’Connell as he signed a new contract this year so they must see something in him….

    Agree to differ.

The real problem with this one is that should THEY win the play offs neither of us will ever know.

  7. Oops..geordie, using my phone while waiting for grey headed or bald blokes to arrive in the BV.

Minds of Saville this waiting game…i asked my mate at ten in the morning to watch my chair while myself and another mate went to get presents for our kids.

Being a good friend that he is, he sat for six hours waiting for us to return, I still feel guilty about that…but what a day:)

These guys who constantly talk about he SPFL rushing through league reconstruction if Rangers don’t win promotion, I’m starting to believe it is borne out of wishful thinking.

I see the telegraph reporting that Jake Livermore, the Hull City midfielder has tested positive for Cocaine.

Shamelessly stolen from the comments on the article

Meanwhile, at Old Trafford, Rooney, Jones and Shaw have tested positive for pie.

Having witnessed some dire performances this season from Guidetti , Stokes etc masquerading as a CFC striker ….it has surprised me how few opportunities Scepovic has been given ….the guy scored is a goalscorer …..give him a chance

The SFA tried to push Newco into the SPL but the clubs, including Celtic, voted it down. They then tried the Championship and again, the clubs kicked if into touch.

Now you are saying that if Rangers fail to win promotion, the SPFL will go against their own rules and push for league reconstruction, and the clubs will happily vote it through, and according to you, Celtic will be first to sign up for it.

    It’s all just wishful thinking.

  15. On Google maps when you zoom in on Ashley Park the screen also pinpoints the stadium John Brown used to play in.

  16. I’d like to see the strongest team possible tonight. If there are too many changes followed by a defeat, we’ll have Ronny being slated, calls for the ‘dead wood’ to be cleared out and PL to break open the piggy bank.

Nah, always play the best team. Training sessions and bounce games should be able to sort out who’s good and who’s not.

  17. I think Google recently gave the public the facility to annotate things on their maps site but had to withdraw it again after some wags added spoof names. That’s probably what’s happened with Minty Park.

  18. “Retreat” said Peter

“WHAT” said all the SPFL teams

“Retreat” said Peter “It’s tactical, think of the coin and bugger the innocent casualties”

“Oh! yeah the money, that’s what it is all about” said all the SPFL teams

“that and keeping the huns on life support”

But who is paying? Not the clubs, not the clubs chairmen, and if not them who is paying for Scottish football to survive the cheating? Who?

It couldn’t be the stupid fenians could it?

Hey! Stupid fenians are you really that stupid you are paying to be shafted and whored?

Naw… we are Celtic Supporters, we are clued up.

“Thank feck for that” said the SFA.

  19. An tearmann…

You know although most of my family came over from Donegal all those years ago, I’ve never been…It’s on my bucket list though. HH

Tom. If THEY fail to win play offs and are not playing in top flight next season, I will be first to put up my hand. That is a promise.
