Life truisms and leaving extra in the Hampden lockers

1052

There are truisms in life.  The sun rises in the east and sets in the west, night follows day and Hibernian Football Club will not win the Scottish Cup.  However, a failure to lift the trophy since Orville said to Wilbur, ‘I bet this thing gets off the ground’, does not guarantee subsequent failures.  Hibs have already beaten Celtic this season and are perfectly capable of doing so again on Sunday.

Before this season Kilmarnock hadn’t won at Celtic Park since 1955, but it happened.  St Johnstone, Motherwell, St Mirren, Inverness and Ross County beat us too.  All these defeats were against the odds; no more so than Hibs are on Sunday.

Celtic need to get in touch with how they felt after their League Cup semi-final defeat to St Mirren, a day of so much regret.  The 90 minutes will pass quickly, there’s no point leaving something in your locker for next week. Let’s get off to a flier.

Many thanks for sending over your Seville photographs, we are planning to pull photos and your comments on the event together into a special publication.  If you have any more please send them in, celticquicknews@gmail.com.

Willie Wallace will be signing copies of his book at Waterstones on Sauchiehall St between 2pm and 4pm on Saturday, 25th May.  Bet he knows what he was doing that very afternoon 46 years earlier.  Get along to see him or order your own signed copy below. This is going to be a great weekend.

    What’s a D notice?

A DA-Notice or Defence Advisory Notice (called a Defence Notice or D-Notice until 1993) is an official request to news editors not to publish or broadcast items on specified subjects for reasons of national security. The system is still in use in the United Kingdom.

Not sure if it.s the same thing in relation to stocks.

Tallybhoy – I think we should ask her and Mulder to investigate some very strange activities in this country. I don’t mean Bonnybridge UFO sightings….

I was thinking more of administrators getting away with Blue Murder and trousering about £4M in the process!

Or a learned judge saying that £41M extra funding gained through tax avoidance is not a sporting advantage for one former club in a two horse race!

Or liquidation for an incorporated club not meaning THE END….etc., etc.

    You get my gist….

I was hoping someone may be able to tell me if half season tickets are available for next season.

I was thinking of getting a full season ticket but with working every other weekend, I would be lucky to get to ten league games in a season.

I know the Club do overseas season tickets which are a great idea and a scheme I would love to participate in, unfortunately the ticket office don’t view Ireland as being overseas – they should trying walking it…

Anyway, if someone could enlighten me about the half ticket scheme, it would be much appreciated. Is it still available ?

Off out now but promise to get on later to thank those who get back to me.

If I don’t get one for the Celtic end by about 2.40pm, I’ll head on up to the Hibs end to see if there are any spares.

  10. Snake thanks for sharing that article – very good rational analysis by whoever done it –

    I liked the summary –

It’s only possible to draw one rational conclusion from the evidence – “Armageddon” is in fact the best thing that’s happened to Scottish football for decades. Somehow, just about everyone seems to have come out a winner. Celtic are richer, most other SPL clubs are richer, and SFL clubs are richer.

(And of course, even the new Rangers is far richer than the old one was, having walked away from tens of millions of pounds of debt and a whole heap of wage bills and then somehow persuaded fans and investors to cough up another £20m, no matter how much many of them might be regretting that particular decision now.)

We’re not saying that Scottish independence will definitely work out the exact same way, of course. We’re just saying that perhaps it’s worth bearing in mind that people in positions of authority don’t always tell you the truth.

@TicV67 The web linking spivs like Whyte, Ahmad, Aiden Earley & Kevin Sykes- and IPs like D&P shows that the system is rotten to the core.

Season Ticket renewed,26 years in a row, with £100 off the Club can’t do much more than that IMO.

Has that fud Wotte apologised yet? You can be sure if it was the other way round, the charge sheet would be at CP now by Registered Post

    Stokes’ Charity Gesture…

    By Fanzone

    Selfless Act From Bhoy…

Celtic striker Anthony Stokes has made a wonderful gesture by offering to donate his special edition customised Dr Dre Beats headphones to the clubs charity 1254125.

The club had only 30 pairs made specially to celebrate the clubs 125th anniversary. Yesterday several players used social media to show the support their commemorative gifts but only Stokes offered to put his up for auction.

Now Stokes gets a lot of stick, not least from me but this gesture shows a different, more mature side to the Bhoy. Hopefully he’s learning what it means to play for Celtic!

And if it all goes well, there might even be an article in the MSM or would that be asking too much…

Well the most important fact is that in terms of paying customers 4 clubs have seen an increase in revenues and attendances and we’re all still standing despite the hyperbole last year.

If Hearts go down then it’s their own fault but there appear to be people interested in buying them though who knows why.

The last bit is good to – don’t listen to what people in authority tell you – they have their own reasons for what they say. Very transferable.

Still plenty of time before Sunday for the media to spin nonsense about Lenny’s ‘Hampden hoodoo’.

‘Hoodoo’, like ‘Liquidation’ appears to take on a false meaning in Scotland. Celtic have won approximately 50% of our games at Hampden under Neil Lennon. That ‘hoodoo’ is on a par with our European Cup final ‘hoodoo’.

Lenny’s domestic Cup record in two competitions since April 2010:

    P 27

    W 20

    D 2

    L 5

    F 57

    A 24

Obviously, if the meeja wanted to apply the word ‘hoodoo’ in a proper context they could examine the record of the man with the Cathedral Steps chins.

Ally Absolutely’s record in record in three competitions since September 2011:

    P 14

    W 9

L 6 (1 Ramsden Cup loss on pens!!”

    F 30

    A 14

That’s not very good. But his record in the League Cup and Scottish Cup from the point when the big team’s like Falkirk come in is an utter disaster:

    P 7

    W 3

    D 0

    L 4

    F 9

    A 13

    Oh dear…
