There are truisms in life. The sun rises in the east and sets in the west, night follows day and Hibernian Football Club will not win the Scottish Cup. However, a failure to lift the trophy since Orville said to Wilbur, ‘I bet this thing gets off the ground’, does not guarantee subsequent failures. Hibs have already beaten Celtic this season and are perfectly capable of doing so again on Sunday.
Before this season Kilmarnock hadn’t won at Celtic Park since 1955, but it happened. St Johnstone, Motherwell, St Mirren, Inverness and Ross County beat us too. All these defeats were against the odds; no more so than Hibs are on Sunday.
Celtic need to get in touch with how they felt after their League Cup semi-final defeat to St Mirren, a day of so much regret. The 90 minutes will pass quickly, there’s no point leaving something in your locker for next week. Let’s get off to a flier.
Many thanks for sending over your Seville photographs, we are planning to pull photos and your comments on the event together into a special publication. If you have any more please send them in, celticquicknews@gmail.com.
Willie Wallace will be signing copies of his book at Waterstones on Sauchiehall St between 2pm and 4pm on Saturday, 25th May. Bet he knows what he was doing that very afternoon 46 years earlier. Get along to see him or order your own signed copy below. This is going to be a great weekend.

The ‘marquee’ signing is Davie ‘granpa’ Weir.
Been turned down for the Everton job.
He is to be a player/assistant reserve coach, and will help Jimmy Bell wash and iron the kit.

Yet again Porto do the buy cheap/sell big plan to perfection whilst also winning trophies.
Portugese media now confirming that Moutinho + James Rodriguez have left Porto to sign for Monaco in a £60m double deal.
Can anyone confirm that if Hearts have an insolvency event before the start of next season that they would have a points deduction imposed at the start of the season?
Ten Men Won The League
From wikipedia on Rodriguez:
—————————————————–
On 6 July 2010 Rodríguez was signed by F.C. Porto for €5.1 million, with 30% economic rights retained by other parties. He signed a 4-year contract with a €30M release clause. Porto later re-sold 10% economic rights to third parties. On 18 July he played his first game and scored his first goal in a friendly against Ajax. In November Porto sold 35% economic rights (half of 70%) to Gol Football Luxembourg, S.A.R.L. for €2.5 million.
On 15 December 2010, Rodríguez scored his first goal in European Football in a 3–1 home victory for Porto against CSKA Sofia.
Rodríguez also scored a hat-trick in Portuguese Cup Final against Vitória de Guimarães in a 6–2 win of Porto. On 17 May Porto bought the remaining 30% economic rights from Convergence Capital Partners B.V. for €2,250,000, made Porto once again held more than half of the economic rights of 55%. On 13 June he signed a new 5-year contract and the release clause had increased to €45 million. In just 24 appearances, he scored 6 goals and 8 assists also playing a part in the Europa league.

I thought there was some rule against third party ownership of players. Obviously not in Portugal. Also with their immigration rules laxer than in UK, easier for them to buy up top talent from South America.

I don’t think Porto can be compared to us at least.
They will have half a dozen Sth Americans lined up to replace them already.
RalphWaldoEllison
Yeah, an insolvency event during the close season would mean a points deduction for next season.
Mort
RalphWaldoEllison remembers ALS victims Jimmy Jonstone & John Cushley
If that becomes reality they may be unable to start the season at all.

The points deduction would be based on this season 2012/13 rather than 2011/12 which would mean a lower points reduction. Cheating Jambo’s!

Ten Men Won the League. Yes you have got to hand it to Porto they sell players for really big money and unearth quality replacements. While at the same time doing well on the park this is the type of model we need.H.H.
Duff and Phelps= another example of the teflon nature of yon deid club and those associated with them
I hear the fat apprentice hopes the marquee signing is Mr Kipling

FACT.
Even the old ‘teflon don’ – John Gotti – would have been impressed by the ‘business acumen’ of Duff & Phelps.

A club that is meant to be enduring a transfer embargo billing a dodgy deal with an ageing haddie who is out of contract and unwanted by anyone outside the third tier of Scottish football as a “marquee signing” is like telling your weans a long weekend at Saltcoats is “the holiday of a lifetime”.

First Division clubs are set to apply
to join the Scottish Premier League
after failing to get sufficient backing
for proposals at a meeting of Scottish
Football League sides.
Hamilton Academical chairman Les
Gray has told STV a “42-club solution
is dead” after just 16 of the 29 clubs
eligible to vote on change showed
their support in an indicative ballot
on Thursday.
Twenty-two clubs are required to
back the plans when a formal vote is
held on June 10.
“The 42 club solution is dead,” Gray
told STV. “We are really disappointed
that the show of hands went 16 to 13.
“Now the SFL board has organised a
meeting in two weeks to formalise a
failed vote.”
Second and Third Division clubs had
sought an extra £270,000 per year in
prize money from the First Division as
part of new financial distribution
plans.
The 10 sides in the second tier had
been open to that idea, and a tweak
to the governance structure, but both
were rejected by SPL clubs when
they met on Monday.
After Thursday’s failed vote, First
Division clubs met privately to decide
their next course of action.
The 10 clubs threatening to
breakaway are Alloa Athletic,
Cowdenbeath, Dumbarton, Dundee,
Falkirk, Greenock Morton, Hamilton
Academical, Livingston, Queen of the
South and Raith Rovers.
SFL chief executive David Longmuir
has previously stated that his
league’s rules expressly forbid any
club resigning its membership
without giving a two-year notice
period, unless 19 of the 29 clubs give
their approval.
Gray and his fellow First Division
rebels believe that SFL rule 15.2
relaxes that requirement as it states
they would be free to leave for the
SPL if they are admitted in a 10-2
vote of top flight sides.
The rule states: “Notwithstanding any
other provision of these Rules, the
membership of any football club
promoted in accordance with Rule 92
(Champion Clubs – Promotion and
Relegation) to The Scottish Premier
League (or otherwise admitted to The
Scottish Premier League), in
accordance with the Rules of The
Scottish Premier League, shall
automatically terminate upon the
admission of such club to The
Scottish Premier League and such
club shall not be obliged to give any
notice of its cessation of membership
of the League and shall be permitted
to depart from the League and
become a member of The Scottish
Premier League (in accordance with
the Rules of The Scottish Premier
League) without restriction.”
Gray added: “Our legal understanding
of this as a First Division is that we
can apply to join the SPL with no
notice period required.
“That would allow us to take our
share of the settlement agreement
with us, circa 10/27ths or 10/30ths,
although there is some dubiety about
that.
SFL chief Longmuir said of
Thursday’s informal vote: “We took an
indication today to see how clubs are
feeling about the change agenda.
“16 were in favour of the package of
change as it stands and 13 were not
yet ready to agree to it.
“The 14 day lead time at least gives
clubs a chance to contemplate the
due diligence process, which we are
working on in parallel, to give them
the opportunity to decide on June 10.
“That is the proper, constitutional
thing we need to do to get to the
point where clubs can vote.
“We will furnish them with as much
information as we can to make the
best and most informed decision they
can.”

That’s a good shout, but Misser would be odds on .
As long as Sevco are in that 20…
Raith chairman Turnbull Hutton
told the Press: “I think there
will be change for next season –
one way or another.
“If an indicative vote at
Thursday’s meeting goes in
favour of the proposed league
reconstruction, then fine.
“If it goes against, then the issue
of a breakaway will raise its
head again.’’
The reform proposals put
forward by the SPL would see
the current 12-10-10-10 league
structure retained, but under a
single merged league body.
First Division clubs stand to
benefit financially from the
changes, while promotion play-
offs between the top two tiers
would also be introduced.
Hutton added: “The first division
and SPL clubs are both keen on
these changes being in place for
next season.
“The danger is that instead of a
42 club solution, we’ll have 20
lower league clubs left high and
dry.”
It could be Doreen Goian who is coming back.
Know a lot of people here – in La Spezia – who hope so.
Been here on loan and has contributed greatly to the club finishing in mid-table mediocrity in Serie B.
