  1. Lennon’s comments regarding Ajer are a bit concerning. We already look shaky at the back. Not sure we can afford to have Ajer and Julien out for too long…..fingers crossed.

  2. Thought Duffy played very well. Subs should have been on much earlier. We are crying out for a good defensive midfielder, because it ain’t Scott Brown.

    Top3

    Laxalt, McGregor , Elyounoussi

How was a 2-2 draw away to the French league leaders a “poor result”? Yes, we were 2-0 up but they had more shots, more possession and missed a penalty.

On the whole, the performance and result were encouraging. Play like that week-in-week-out, we’ll be fine.

  4. Laughing regarding the comment about CMcG covering every blade of grass — if he actually learns how to tackle he would only have to do half the work.

Also the ref was very much into the EUFA vibe that big media markets need all the help they can get.

Not a great performance especially in the first half.

Consequently tonight was 2 points lost.

  5. We carried a bit of luck in the 1st half but it ran out in the second. This might sound silly but at no time tonight did I think we were losing .

That’s why it was strange but encouraging to see Soro come on. Looks like he’ll give us legs in the middle.

Let’s hope we see him a bit more often from now on.

Still not sure what Turnbull has done wrong though.

  7. MADMITCH,

What a load of pish your summation of the game is.Calmac was immense, battling everywhere.Christie, very average.A poor result.Gtf.

  8. I’ve got to say that with better coaching , and tactical substitutions, we would have won that

The first half was fine. When it we t to 2-1 it obvious to everyone, well almost everyone, that we needed to make changes.

Ntcham and Christie were done by 60 mins but Lenny waited another 20 mins to make changes – as usual too little too late!

Its frustrating that he seems to be almost the last to see that change is needed. Words fail me.

I’d have taken 2-2 prep match but that feels like a defeat.

    You answer your own question.

The performance included a lot of good play but the result was poor.

2-0 up at HT — anything less than a win is a failure to me.

We matched them for talent but we lacked their drive and confidence.

Last year we would have won the game because we would have scored in the 2nd half.

This season the team are playing as cliques / individuals rather than for each other.

We are playing without a proper DM — SB is filling a jersey and had a good 45 minutes.

Plus SB has everything a good GK needs apart from presence.

  10. I thought our loanee centre back was brought in to protect our goal during corners , free kicks , but set pieces we are extremely poor and most of goals conceded are from the set plays.

    I 100%

    agree

In terms of general play I thought Cal Mac was outstanding tonight.

And I also think he has been quietly very below standard all season.

But tonight he was superb….Surprised that someone who watched that game could think he was rotten

  12. McPhail Bhoy at 8.11 I was fearing a defeat tonight but a 2 each draw away to a team like Lille is a really good result which could have been better.

It might just be a coincidence but since yer man Dallas from Bonkle became involved with UEFA referees , the match officials in our European games have been of similar quality to the Scottish ones.

    TOSB-me me me😉

    Oi, noooooo. It’s me. Isn’t it ?

    :)

Yes, not disagreeing that Calmac covered a lot of ground but constructive wise he created little which I felt was disappointing. It may be argued of course that given the opposition the role assigned to him was more that of a defensive midfielder . Still think he functions much better for the team in a creative role though.

  15. CalMac’s best performance of the season. Long overdue and very welcome.

    Laxalt is a player.

Would love big Duffy to be a star. Only really seen him in a Celtic top, so judging only on that… he seems a bit too 1970s stylee!

Would have made the subs earlier and it would have been griff, not Eddie.

Blow it oot yer erse — ya zoomer.

We played well for 45 minutes and then the fear set in.

Earlier substitutions would have helped but we sat back and defended too deep.

Even in the second half — three good passes and we had them under pressure.

The final ball was too often very sloppy and we didn’t get lucky.

CMcG did a lot of running but rarely impacted the game.

He seemed to be playing chases in a primary school playground — and not very well.

RC put in a good shift on the right — he won tackles and he impacted on the game.

Not enough but he was positive where CMcG was passive.

  17. Sorry Madmitch, disgaree.

2-2 away in Europe to a team top of the French league is never a “poor result” even if you’re 2-0 up.

On another note, does Barkas come back on Sunday or has Bain done enough to keep his place?

  18. There is something about Walsh I like…. Not sure at centre half tho…… I would start grooming him now for a DM role which I think he has attributes for….. All in all.. Fairly pleased.. Ajer is a concern

  19. MadMitch

Christie was subbed & it wasn’t a surprise.

He looked leggy in the 2nd half& I can only suspect that he’s still recovering from 14 days enforced quarantine.

He also left his man at the far post for their 2nd goal so he had a simple one on one with Bain.

He had flashes in the 1st half but wasn’t nearly as good as we’ve come to expect.

  20. I don’t think cal knows how to tackle without getting a card.I thought Christie was average tonight, running about doesn’t mean he played well either

  21. Christie was playing on rhs of midfield and supported Frimpong well

The 2nd goal came from the LHS, with Christie trying to make up ground on the gap

    In my opinion

  22. Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on

    Big improvement.

Shame we didn’t get a win.

    Plus points …..

Neil looked healthier and more engaged on the touchline

Terrific 60 minutes against a top team.

    Hunger and togetherness was there.

    Negatives?

    Second goal. Amateurish. Appalling.

(Can we do defensive drills PLEASE?)

Moi on 67 – why didn’t you shoot son?

    Hail hail

    Keep The Faith

  23. I share the reservations about Lenny but Lille have a 100 per cent record in France this season and thrashed the Czechs in Prague, so to draw there is obviously a good result. A pity we have to play European games at Celtic Park.
