Limited time to build fitness for new recruits

Celtic have only one game before they meet Benfica in the Champions League, away to St Johnstone on Saturday.  The Perth team are bottom of the SPL without a win so far this season, so will not present a significant challenge, but Celtic could do with a sterner test.

Lassad Noiuoiu, Efe Ambrose and Miku Fedor each need to be stretched before they will be ready for Champions League football.  Even if they get a full 90 minutes on Saturday, so I can’t see either starting against Benfica a week on Wednesday, unless they possess uncommon natural fitness, or our injury crisis steps up a level.

Match packages go on general sale from Tuesday 11th.

    Thanks El DiegoBhoy

Some clients and their numbers are so old ;-0

I don’t blame them for the package thing, but I will need Barca tickets for folk that can genuinely only make the one night, and that’s the obvious game, if they want to pick a game.

  3. BSR

i understand that they don`t have any plans to sell single CL match tickets

their intention is to sell three match packages

re the TO …i always go in personally as well …despite my location i consider the drive much less hassle than phoning in

i`ve always found the folk in the TO to be helpful

  4. PF

Agree, better to go in, it’s got something to do with the ole client codes not transferring to the

    phoneline sellers, as AKB says.

I don’t know how they are going to pull it off, as I can’t see them selling 60,000 three match packages, though I hope they do.

there has to be an appetite for change

i believe the ordinary football fan is sceptical of their fitness for purpose

however, there are too many vested interests for change to be achieved without resistance

Deepest sympathies with you lads and your families at this very difficult time. I still have my Mum alongside me fighting the tribulations we all have to fight and when I hear of these sad moments, and the passing away of that person who always makes things feel not as bad as they are, it makes me cherish her ever more.

I hope The Celtic Football Team put smiles back on your faces over the next few weeks, months and years.

You will be able to buy individual match tickets for the CL from this coming

Tuesday onwards and your right they will probably not sell out the all the said

CL matches either I would imagine they will probably get 55K for both the

Benfica & Spartak match I would also imagine that they might sell out the

Barcelona match although that remains to be seen, because don’t forget

probably the said three matches will also be shown live on Sky Sports

The Benfica match is being shown live and no doubt the Barcelona match

will be the same too as for the Spartak match that will probably be on Sky

    as well

Do you think there will still be packages to buy by the end of that day? I usually just buy tickets online in the house but if the tickets are going fast I’d have to phone from work that day.

I can’t see the packages being sold out early but I can’t be totally sure.

I think we’ll see all the outfield players get a debut against St Johnstone to get them a feel for the team before the CL game against Benfica. Btw pure raging that Danish FC Nordsjælland are playing the same night as us, as it will be shown live and I just don’t see our game against Benfica as the premium game that will be shown on the oher footy channel.

I use Celtic tv but as usual they say they can’t shoe the game live so I’ll be stuck on some pirated stream on vipbox. Hail Hail from Denmark

  27. Afternoon all.

First off, deepest sympathies to the fine cqn’rs who have experienced horrible loss this weekend. Take care of yourselves and your families.

On matters football, I think BBC Alba deserve enormous credit for their coverage of Scottish football. They have just broadcast a superb interview with Jackie and Simon Donnelly. It was remarkably insightful and was framed around the professional relationship of two best friends.

The warmth and trust they exhibit towards each other was genuinely heartwarming and the way they dovetail as a management duo is looking as seamless and telepathic as their combinations down the wing, under the late great Tommy Burns.

They have also built a very, very good team at Firhill. Their football is mostly played on the floor, good ball players, youthful exhuberance, full of attacking intent. I spent five years on the books of the Jags as a youngster, signing for Murdo MacLeod and I retain a great affection for that club. It’s heartening to see the great advances Jackie and Sid have made with Thistle and I hope they get into the SPL and defeat Sevco in the latter stages of the Ramsdens Cup !

Celtic could do worse than farm out some of our young gems to Partick over the next few years. I attended the pre season game where they defeated a Celtic team including Blackman, Ibrahim, Twardizc and Tony Watt. I was disapointed but didn’t realise the quality Jackie had brought in. Lawless, Erskine and Welsh in particular have looked terrific in the early part of the season.

I don’t think it’s inconceivable that McNamara and Donnelly could end up managing Celtic in a eight or ten years time. They are both in their late thirties enjoying a terrific grounding at a great club. Their bond looks indestructible, they have a wealth of playing experience having worked under managers such as Tommy, Martin O’Neill, Jansen, Venglos and whisper it, Craig Brown.

As Scottish football is talked down, denigrated and apparently devoid of any type of future, we have a dynamic, enthusiastic management duo who have a good team playing in the correct manner at a fantastic community club. Its worthy of comment and I think they could be one of THE stories of the Scottish football season. I for one, will be making the trip to the West end more often this season when their games don’t clash with Celtic.

I wish two fine Celtic servants all the best in their endeavours over the next few years.

    TJ

I’m not so sure, I think people realise these are the must see games this season and not just Barca. Spartak and Benfica will be quality to watch as well.

The carrot is definitely Barca and I have to make sure the wee man sees them.
