Lions Roar, the last giant standing, CQN Mag is out!

824

Issue 16 of CQN Magazine is out today and (in my never humble opinion) is our best yet.  We are right up to date, with coverage of the Scottish Cup final.  Phil Mac Giolla Bhain gives historical perspective on Celtic’s position as the last apex in the game.

You’ve ready plenty of great stories of how people got their tickets Seville and we bring you a very Celtic story on how one man got his.  Did you notice we’ve mentioned Willie Wallace a bit recently?  Some of the reasons why are covered by two of Scotland’s best writers, Brogan Hogan and Archie MacPherson, excerpts of their contributions to Heart of a Lion are here for you.

There are lots more great articles….. including our cover theme, The Lions Roar Again Event.  The remaining Lisbon Lions are back at Celtic Park for a Q&A and Lisbon film show, in aid of 1254125.  The first event was one of those special Celtic occasions, if you missed it, make sure you get along this time.

Opportunities like this don’t come along often.  Book your tickets for the event here, bring the family.

DON’T TRY TO READ THE MAGAZINE FROM THE GRAPHC BELOW, that is just a teaser.  For a proper read, go here.  Use the navigation buttons at the bottom to flick through pages or zoom in.

Was in Woolongong on a trip to see relatives recently.

A truly beautiful area, mile and miles of beaches and picnic areas. within a train ride to Sydney.

Were I younger, I would move immediately.

  2. After listening to the CF tapes of our hero and Duff and Phelps and the numerous times they mention Green one wonders how an “independent tribunal” can consider Green and Whyte were not involved in the acquisition of Sevco(s) and RIFC. It seems to defy all logic based on these audits alone.

Or could it be that the Company came to a very different conclusion than Pinsent Mason who have just picked up their fee and walked away? As I recall PM have said nothing publicly. The AIM announcement came from the Huns themselves.

  3. So the old AIB, Allied Irish Bank, took the huns to court according to Charlotte and reveals Ogilvie knew fine well about the EBT’s. I used to have a wee account with that AIB in Jersey but the difference was I paid my tax. I banked with the AIB for over 25 years but they turned out to be like every other bank A Wunch of Bankers.

    Banned?

Who gets banned off here these days?

In the ole days you could post ‘ Mr Lawell should blinkin’ well sign a left- back, the scoundrel ‘ and get a yellow card for your troubles.

And now look at some of the contributions from the John Birch CSC- unpleasant, obnoxious and the most gratuitously offensive material I’ve ever seen on here.

I don’t know which Celtic they claim to support but I don’t recognise it.

Blantyre is not too far away from the school, I remember a lot of Tims from Blantyre who I would travel to some of the games with, what a scream :>)

Completely agree with your comment about Mr Macari. It does my head in when he’s cosistently wheeled out by Alan Brazil on TalkSport as if he’s some sort of authority on Celtic Football Club.

You could write what the two of them know about Celtic on one of Joe Miller’s boots!!

Really looking forward to it especially if that’s the song sheet.

  8. Jonny the Tim,cheers for the reply,I spoke to the garage and it looks like they will take the car back and I can just buy another one ,they have promised me an excellent deal, here’s hoping, thanks again to everyone who replied

Afraid I have to disagree with you

I have all the time in the world for Dalglish as a Celtic player,he was magnificent. But he was agitating for a move long long before he got it.

And he knew the mess it left for Big Jock-though no-one could have foreseen the injury problems which would befall the club the following season,of course.

I am grateful for the years he was with us.

But Davie Hay left because he was taken off first-team wages any time he was injured-and his style of play,so necessary to the team made that an occupational hazard-while other players who would not have the heart to tackle a big breakfast never suffered that problem.

As for George Connelly,a tragic loss. My all-time favourite, even more than Bobby Murdoch (due to my age) and I was distraught when he walked away from football.

But it had nothing at all to do with a lack of loyalty.

But your opinion is obviously as valid as mine-I might be viewing the actions of two of my favourite players through rise-tinted glasses!!!!

This is pretty much the only blog that I visit regularly ( I occasionally dip into the GB site just to see what the young ones are up to!). I have to say that from what I’ve seen of other sites of this nature, CQN remains remarkably free from the profanities, personal abuse, smut and gratuitous ramblings that I’ve witnessed on my odd visit to less illustrious places.

Thankfully todays self policing is evidence of that.

I was sad to see Davie Hay go he was class, but you are correct he left because of the pay structure. In those days the players were paid a basic wage which was supplemented by win bonuses, so if you we’re out of the team due to injury you lived off the not-so-great basic pay. I say bring that system back and you’ll see how many lazy feckers recover from injury and also try harder to secure a win bonus!!!

I used to go on a supporters bus from Blantyre when I was a wee bhoy.

The bus left from big John Fallon’s pub on Glasgow Road, that was the happiest time as Celtic supporter that I remember. The fholk from Blantyre are cut from the best quality of cloth.

There was also a bus called – the broadway bus – I think ?

They were also of the best to be found.

Some of the folk from school that day at the SCF, was the last time I ever seen them, so ‘that’ game has a lot of memories for me. I hope to God that their all well and good.

I thought Resistance D were superb way bach in the ole day and I wonder what kind of music those guys are making now, it would be very interesting to know as the tempo of their music was quite pacey then and they would have really refined their sound by now.
