Livi will arrive at Celtic Park confident

386

After a home defeat to St Mirren in November precipitated Gary Holt’s resignation as Livingston manager, the West Lothian club have won all eight games played, by any measure, they are the form team in Scotland right now.  They were 13 points behind fourth placed Hibernian after that St Mirren defeat.  Hibs have played three games more than Livingston since then but the gap has shrunk to 7 points.

That should illustrate how Livi will be a more difficult opponent than Hibs were this week.  New manager, David Martindale, will fancy his chances of making a name for himself at Celtic Park tomorrow.

Celtic are still without their 13 isolating players, as well as the long-term injured, although Nir Bitton returns from suspension and will likely replace Stephen Welsh.  I expect David Turnbull to move into the middle at the expense of Tom Rogic, with Ewan Henderson starting on the right as he finished against Hibs.

Neil Lennon might be thinking long and hard about Diego Laxalt, who conceded the late foul Hibs equalised from on Monday, and did the same at Ibrox, preceding the corner kick Newco scored from.  It is not totally Diego’s fault that we cannot defend set-pieces satisfactorily, but we need to find a way to stop him conceding them.  Replacement by Greg Taylor is an option.

I have no suggestions as to what we do up front but would not be surprised if Mikey Johnston moved inside.  On the positive side, Livingston will not know what to expect from us.

the politicians have been picking and choosing which freedoms you are still allowed not based on doing everything they can to stop the virus as quick as they can, or on science, but based on political expediency

how could they have thought that allowing people to freely travel in and out the country for months or allow schools to stay open for months would do anything other than massively proliferate the spread of the virus, with all the associated deaths?

they didnt. they knew the consequences, almost to the point of criminal negligence.

the political leaders have got a sip of dictatorship

and they like the taste of it

we have had the pish ripped right out us for months now so yes, the politicians should be continually questioned about it, as they should for any other subject

We were dealing with a fearful and largely unknown situation last March. We were watching harrowing situations in Italy and basing many expectations on that. This country used a moderately strict lockdown appraoch but was far from rigourous in instituting PPE measures for front line staff, in restricting air travel, and in serious track & trace measures, and most certainly was confused and contradictory as to the benefits of mask wearing. It was classic half-assed British bumbling.

Those countries with more authoritarian governments actually did much better in getting on top of the disease and flattening the curve. Even a bolshie country like Australia was much more succesful in persuading its population to accept more severe measures.

Now whether countries accpeted the moderate lockdown restrictions of Western Europe or left it to the common sense of its population to follow the guidance without the threat of law (Sweden) or whether the country was culturally split in following the measures (USA, Brazil, Hungary etc;) Covid struck them down in a broadly similar pattern. Even poor Ireland which tried its best, reduced tourism and had only a small and spectacularly stupid anti-vaccine movement (remember the Constant Markiewicz guy) has suffered terribly. Liberal minded California is suffering worse then redneck hideouts like rural Arizona and Montana.

The main point to note is that all these countries relaxed their lockdowns at various points. The more authoritarian were among the earliest to do so. Contrary to the predictions, they did not hold on to these pwers to restrict for as long as possible and did not use them to introduce harsher social controls. Governments as radically different as the Chinese Communist Party and Nicola Sturgeon and Macron all relaxed and only re-instuted further ockdowns and further restrictions in response to an increase in the infection rate and a resurgent Covid. Now, unless you believe that they are controlling the flow of the virus to make it look like there is a need (and I’d have to ask you how they could possibly do that) then they are all reluctantly re-introducing measures they would prefer to do without. They are all, reluctantly, presiding over the tanking of their economies. Nicola wants Scottish Independence; this is no way to prpepare the grounds for anindependent economy. It is palpably against her political self-interests.

Now, if it was the genuine tyrants of the World economy, (Putin, Trump, Bolsinaro, Orban etc;) that was setting this trend then I’d get paranoid too.

But a world of tyranny led by Nicola Sturgeon, Jacinda Ardern, Justin Trudeau or even the more right wing Scott Morrison- gie’s a break.

These people want the covid threat to lessen, they want their economies back up and working (it will take a decade to recover what we already lost) and, despite my huge political diferences with Nicola Sturgeon, she cuts an unimpressive figure as a potential dictator.

Our freedoms will be restored, once we reduce the pandemic threat sufficiently. Sadly, real dictators in Russia, China, Saudi Arabia, Iran, and parts of Africa will go on as before, and the wannabe dictators like Trump, Bolsinaro, Orban and Erdogan will need a brave opposition to prevent their countries becoming Gilead, or owned by Mining/Logging conglomerates, or Fascist or Caliphate countries.

That was true before Covid and will remain true afterwards.

  4. I also like the statement that its unprecedented.

What amazes me is, its not even 15 years ago they found all that money for the bankers and the austerity between then and now and all of a sudden we can waste millions on a world class track and trace that doesn’t work or is being used.

The country’s that have returned to normality got there shit together in the first lock down and if this is the new plague God help us all with these clowns at the helm.

Masks dont work, that must be true because we’ve all been wearing them for months now and the numbers keep rising.

Lockdowns dont work unless it’s a real lockdown, but they need the economy to keep going. Therefore all they are doing is prolonging the outcome.

And now the vaccine that doesn’t vaccinate, it just might stop you from dying. Hard lines all you cancer sufferers and anyone else living in pain with or any other debilitating disease.

Pardon my language but this is a right royal f**k up and you should stop living in fear of death. That’s no life, hide behind the couch the rest of your life.

If you feel important for doing so, carry on, with respect it’s pathetic, but you already know that, it must be hard when you are told the truth that goes against all you have been told

Can you clarify what you mean by ‘don’t work’?

Do you mean, they have no effect whatsoever, or do you mean they are not 100% effective?

And can you explain what you mean by ‘the vaccine that doesn’t vaccinate’? Do you accept that the vaccine substantially reduces the risk of contracting Covid 19?

“The death rate is efing less FFS, the results of the lockdowns are causing the excess deaths.”

    ————————-

If only. Every country in the world had excess death rates and it could have been so much more if we had been persuaded by the Covid is a hoax crowd. We were predicting an increase in MH issues and suicides because of the length of the lockdown period but the last BMJ review of literature I read in November 2020 found the picture more cloudy- Lots of reports of an increase in suicidal ideation, particularly among the young, but no change in rates of actual suicide in reports from Massachussets, Victoria (Aus) and England, plus a fall in the rate of Japan. There may yet be a stronger trend to the effects of lockdown but it has nt come through as yet.

As for the Corbett Report, it is characterised by one of my trusted sources, The Southern Poverty Law Center as “Overall, we rate the Corbett Report a Tin Foil Hat conspiracy and Moderate pseudoscience website, based on the promotion of 9/11 conspiracies, False Flags, Chemtrails, and Deep State conspiracies. Politically, the Corbett Report promotes human-influenced climate change denialism and Socialism fear promotion. “

There are still some places where they tell the truth, places like YouTube are sadly a thing of the past, they have stopped folks telling the truth there for months now, FB and Twitter the same, it goes against the agenda, but it’s out there for now on some platforms, sadly day by day it’s getting eroded.

Not a mention of all the suicides, the domestic abuse, the skyrocketing abortions, the rapes, the child abuse, the deaths from the lockdowns, the acholism, the drug excess taking, the excess deaths from the lack of medical care, the excess care home deaths from Doctors not being allowed in to care for the folks, no it’s all the dreaded covid, and now there is no Flu anymore, UK government sites are saying it, even the WHO are saying that there virtually no Flu anymore, but they are obviouly lies and bullshit, but I am the ejit who knows nothing, yet they try and make me out to be the fool, it’s so hun like and pathetic, but it obviously makes them feel superior.

A few CQN’ers getting ridiculed for doubting governments and the MSM about weapons of mass destruction. Robin Cook getting pelters on here for being totally out of touch and a maverick.

How dare you question facts laughed the vast majority of CQN.

How did that pan out. ?

Was the government economical with the truth, and were the majority of the opposition clueless, complacent and or gullible.

  15. SETTING FREE THE BEARS FOR RES. 12

I read the Huddleboard regularly though it is a long time since I posted there. I don’t recall anyone being prescient in decrying the Dubai trip in advance, though I may have missed your unique response.

Celtic announced approval of the trip, by the JRG, on the 20th November- was it near then that you commented (I don’t need exact date and times to research this)? Or was it when the commnetator repeated that announcement in the Sevco game that you posted i.e. during or shortly fter the match? Or are you referring to some other “announcement” when you were informed of the trip?

Was your criticism largely based on the threat of Covid or based on the players not deserving a “treat” for their efforts, or both?

Which character in The Simpsons do you imagine yourself to be?

    Star sign?

    Do I eat crisps?

    Any of these?

My comment on the huddleboard wasn’t unique.

There was plenty being being said.

I never listened to the commentary of the sevco game, I watched it though.

I said when Sturgeon announced lockdown from Boxing Day that Celtic still going ahead with Dubai trip, especially with the new aggressive CV variation was unfathomable on the huddleboard and to friends, who all agreed.

  16. What is the Stars on

In uncertain times such as these, people are desperate for answers and guidance. However if the answers are “there are no easy answers ” a lot of people are naturally unhappy about that.So up pop the witch doctors and crazies.

Back in the 1300s during the bubonic plague they would have been meandering from village to village telling people to repent, that this was gods punishment for turning your back on him (actually some nuts still peddle that line).

But today they can set up youtube channels and peddle equally crazy nonsense.

This will pass ar some stage, vaccines will play a major role, life will go on.

    Dont listen to crazy people..

Of course not, why would I take a vaccine for something that has a 99.7% survival rate, that would be foolish would it not, especially when it’s still in it’s experimental stages, that would be even more foolish in the world I live in anyways.

What’s the survival rate of Covid19 for someone of your age, and any existing comorbidities?

Btw Both Popes had their first jags yesterday.

  20. Ernie I now as much as you, but if its true that we wont get back to normal and we will need a new vacation every year. Then you tell me does it work?

The point is no one knows yet, far to early and I don’t t want to hear the line that everybody has been working on it. When even you must admit, All big pharma companies have been working on their own and thats why we have so many different types of vaccines. This also frightens me that we have so many so called vaccines and if you dont think that any of these were rushed through because of the $ and investment involved, well that’s your choice.

I was brought up to always question authority, always have and always will. I may very well be wrong, but no such thing in a stupid question. And I know I’ve opened the floor but so be it.

Live and let live, but only how we are told.

Let’s get one thing straight, I follow every rule, I go to work, but I will not take the vaccine and neither will my daughters as these thing have not even had 9 months of trials yet and form that I would rather wait and see.

  21. Stars

No you didn’t, you never asked me to explain anything, all you did was to tell me I knew nothing as you expected, a wee bit different to what you are saying is it not.

Educate yourself, read the Great Reset book, the PLAN is all in there and it’s being executed as we speak, even Biden had it’s slogan as his campaign slogan, if you are honest with yourself I’m sure you will recall a few months back the great reset was a con theory, what a turn around eh.

  24. Ernie

Off hand without looking at the government stats I don’t know, what I do know is that the overall survival rate is 99.7%

Jags of what ? sure wasn’t the stuff they are pumping to the general population, unless you know different that is

  25. And that’s the point, its each individual’s choice, but it shouldn’t be forced upon anyone and people are entitled to their own opinions. The same way if I want to believe the world is flat, that’s also my right.

That’s life, we need to start to try and get back to enjoying it. Rather than sitting in our boxes waiting to be let out. As I said I follow all the rules but I’m sure everyone is feeling the strain and stress and if you ask me we are all missing a good fucking sing song
