  1. I would feel far worse right now had we been sitting here talking about Neil Lennon making 7 or 8 changes.

These games away on a plastic surface are about winning, nothing else. You do that by playing your strongest team. Neil did that so I’ve no complaints on that score. The players need to take responsibility for today, just as, Neil had to take responsibility for that game against Cluj.

I hate them squatting in top spot but we need to get back to basics. Ajer in particular has made some very costly mistakes lately and a wee break will do him no harm.

Not panicking but the ultra confidence on here after Ibrox (P67 called time on Davis’ career !) needs to be checked.

Disappointed but still hopeful that we will prevail on most fronts in Scotland this year.

As long as ‘most fronts’ includes the league . If we come back from midweek European games and perform like this there is a danger we might not .

  3. Setting free the bears. I was shocked when I saw the financial results. All that happy clapping when we beat cluj. Poor team but we should have scored more But we can’t afford a striker We should be streets ahead but we are run as a cost cutting company

    Poor poor. #lawwell out

  4. We should be streets ahead

We’d be exactly 3 points clear if we had of won all our games.

  5. we have the players to win the league.

how much money would you want celtic to spend to beat hibs and livi.

i think we have spent 13ml on players plus loans.hibs and livi about $1.50.

    Things will remain tight.

In January the board will panick.

    A couple of loan signings.

    ÂŁ50M in the bank.

    —————————————-

Not sure Westcraigs what having ÂŁ50m in the bank has to do with losing today’s game. Manchester City lost at home to Wolves today and they have the GDP of an entire country!

No club has a right to win every game, I know you weren’t suggesting that put I put it down to a bad day at the office.

  7. ulysses mcghee - a demographic of one on

An Dun – Have to agree. A lot of people are not paying attention. 5 points is massive in the context of who we’re playing. Someone above pointed out that when the midfield struggles, the defence then seem to expose their weaknesses more. We’ve a lot of work to do yet and scoring lots and winning are habits that teams and players get into. Nothing should be underestimated. No team.

  8. PETERLATCHFORDSBELLY on 6TH OCTOBER 2019 5:00 PM

Take Ibrox out and their form is miles better than ours.

Why would you do that? What about cup snd European games? We were excellent 3 days ago, why ignore that?

  9. Today was the First Anniversary Mass for my brother, between Mass Travelling & meeting nephews & nieces I hadn’t seen for a year, I didn’t get to see one kick of a ball today.

However anything I read sounded horrendous, I always expected today to be a hard shift, between playing a big game Thursday & the dreaded plastic pitch, but Christie’s rush of blood seemed to be the last straw.

The Huns are on their way to a big win & at close of business we will be 2 points and 6 or 7 goals behind,

Not a position I am happy about but we have played 3 at home & 5 away including 2 away on plastic pitches & 1 away at Castle Greyskull.

The Bookies still have us at approx 4/6 & The Huns at 6/4 in a 2 horse race.

There is no room for complacency & there is little doubt we face a genuine battle for the Title this year & we will need to win the head to heads,

I thought Thursday was as good as I have seen from Celtic for years but by all accounts today was the Polar opposite.

I cam’t believe we have become a bad team overnight, it’s a bad bad time to go into an International Break as we have no early chance of redemption but there are worse things in life. We have experienced unparalleled joy for past 8 years but it is in adversity that real character is shown.

Already there are some on here who seem to enjoy baiting fellow Celts when they are obviously hurting & vulnerable.

I will never understand that mentality. I don’t mind Huns doing it, we would do it to them so if you give it out you must be able to take it.

However coming from our own defies my understanding of what it means to be a Celtic Supporter.

I still remain cautiously confident we will win the League but for the first time in 9 years I do accept there is a possibility we won’t. Either way it won’t affect my enjoyment of following Celtic or my attitude on here.

Don’t think we will win the treble this year but hopefully we will win the most important one.9 must be priority over anything else, including Europe.

  11. Away to Livingston, who we have struggled against recently, down to ten for 70 minutes in plastic

If we’re ever going to get beaten it’s on a day like today

  12. Didn’t see 1min of today’s game as MissGFTBs receiving mass was today at 12pm… didn’t get out until nearly 1.30pm !!! And all the phones were getting turned on and 1-0 & down to 10 men soon got about …. again canny comment on the game, a bit shocked by the end result … BUT sometimes this season we won’t win … our league rivals are now above us (5 home games & 3 away games compared to us 3 home & 5 away) but we will have 19 home & 19 away come May ….

At least the ole blog will be busy :-)

And congratulations to Seethin Gerarrd as I think he seems to be the first manager ever to have won the league on the 6th October …

  13. That’s four league games in a row not a booking for the hun .

    Rangers 11 fouls no cards

    Hamilton 7 fouls 1 yellow

    —————-

    Livi 19 fouls 3 yellow

    Celtic 11 fouls 2 yellow 1 red

I wasn’t ignoring it. We were brilliant on Thursday. I’m just presenting the facts. Ibrox apart their league form is superior to ours. That may change. But it may not. For the first time since liquidation of RFC we’re in a fight.

Our recent league form is concerning. Pretty much rotten against very bad Hamilton, Hibs & Livi teams. Developing a bad habit of conceding first. Sevco banging the goals in, we’re not, Eddy is fantastic, but our back up options are non-existent. Bayo is a trier, but mediocre. Griff consistently unavailable. It’s an area of weakness.

  15. STBF

The blog was struggling for comments, so I will welcome the return of , Ron67 wonder what brought them all back on today of all days?

    “SFTB

what brought me back on today of all days?

to give my opinion on what i watched .”

Those are answers to the question of “What are you wanting to say?”

They are not answers to the question posed- “Why post that today but not when we are winning?”

    the question you asked was

wonder what brought them all back on today of all days?

  16. Peterlatchfords

“For the first time since liquidation of RFC we’re in a fight.”

Were we not behind to Hearts and Aberdeen in 2 of the titles on the way to 8iar? And I believe one of them was long after the current 8 game season where you say we are in a race.

All we are seeing is the predicted angst that this time it’s Sevco that are chasing/leading.

It’s a bad case of Rarangersurcumminophobia

Today was the First Anniversary Mass for my brother, between Mass Travelling & meeting nephews & nieces I hadn’t seen for a year, I didn’t get to see one kick of a ball today.

Easy to pick out good posts CSC

  18. They will not continue to win every single domestic game against the full league[exception of us]

They WILL drop many points this season.

And we will drop more points too.

I did not subscribe to the theory that the old firm games would settle the championship as celtic and sevco will win every week.

It is an insulting premise and has always been proved wrong.

Believe me sevco will have a domestic wobble at some point.

In the grand scheme of things the league gap is still tight enough to change hands after any round of fixtures.

  19. LazyDynamite, I agree absolutely the Huns will drop points but I don’t expect them to drop as many as in recent years, consequently I think the Head to Heads will need to be won. 3-1 to us should be enough and we are already 1 up.

  20. PeterLatchfordsBelly on

    Setting the Bears

I’ll be staggered if we don’t win this league. Heads should roll if we don’t.

However, neither Hearts nor Aberdeen have Sevco’s (borrowed) resources, establishment support or have ever demonstrated the same level of form they’re now showing. Aberdeen at no time were even Europa League standard and weren’t battering teams week in, week out. Sevco are at a significantly higher level.

  21. Corkcelt.

    Good post.

There is no doubt, for me, that Sevco are serious challengers, this season.

I feel that other teams have regressed, so that they will drop less points.

Today has to be a,huge wake up call for us.

The odds you quoted, that must be the shortest odds Sevco have ever been, to take the title.

The baiting, I agree with you, but I would add, it works both ways and is a huge negative for the blog.

Posters on Thursday, instead of enjoying the victory, were making comments like it will be quiet tonight etc

For me, I wish the blog was like Twitter and you could mute words.

First one, I would mute, bedwetters.

  22. PeterLatchfordsBelly on

    Jimmynotpaul

I agree the league is significantly weaker this season. We can’t afford many more performances like last week and today. Sevco won’t drop anything like what they have in recent seasons.

  23. SFTB.

Celtic were still about 1/14 – 1/20 when those teams were challenging.

The fact we are now as big as 4/6, tells me, that the money men think we are in a proper title race, this season.

    We shouldn’t be complacent.

  24. JNP 5.50pm

The bookies will be offering Celtic at 4/6 for one reason … the Sevs must be backing their team … probably zero pounds or euros on Celtic at any price

By the way I have never read in betting terms … “we are now as big as 4/6”

    I like it :-)

Odds on is still odds on

  25. Plastic pitches do not suit our game. I feel they should not be allowed at the top level in Scotland.

    Cheerio for now.

  26. Good evening CQN from a despondent Garngad

How hard can it be to compete with a bunch of cluggers?

Then again the referee let them away with murder.

I don’t know if there was any positives.

I still think we are better than the rest.

    Hail Hail

    D. :)

  27. Remember……………the huns shouldn’t be at the top o’ the league…………

partial officialdom ie cheatin’ has ensured they are there.

    Don’t forget.

    HH

  28. I hear what you are saying Jimmy and I agree with you about offensive terms like bedwetters.

There are obviously a few Huns in Tim’s clothing who do appear on bad days, having said that, I must say none of the few I suspect have been on today.

I actually don’t mind those guys, in my younger days when I was in my sixties I did the same to them.

However I’ll never understand why genuine Tim’s pick down days to throw their barbs.

You can have an up & down relationship with a pal but if there is a day when he is down & hurting you forget the last argument & put your arm around him & try to cheer him up.

The cyber world is a bit different for the most part we don’t really know each other, all that binds us together is a common love of Celtic.

However I think that should be enough to make us band together in defiance on a bad day.

Anyhow tea calling so I’d better go.

I wasn’t ignoring it. We were brilliant on Thursday. I’m just presenting the facts.

You also ignored the single biggest indicator of us vs them to make your point. In a game at their ground we outplayed them.

How is that presenting the facts?

  30. Bankiebhoy1 – but they are.

    History does not show cheating.

We need to realise this and score more than the opposition.

    Simples.

    We outplayed them at Ibrox.

Their league form is otherwise superior.

These are both facts, not opinion. They’re not mutually exclusive.
