  1. Tom McLaughlin on

I honestly thought James Forrest was finished a month or so ago. I’m delighted to be proved wrong.

He was excellent yesterday and has been for a few weeks.

    Thanks for the goal links!

Had a busy day yesterday so just on now.

    Watched Sportscene too.

    Thought we looked good.

Mibbe we are getting used to the pitch.

  3. Ange came in and realised the enormity of the task. What was left was bad, very bad. So much so we made our worst start to a season for 23 years.

Slowly but surely Ange sorted the mess out. No more excuses, talk of hoodoos and fear of opponents.

Without complacency we went to Livingston. We treated them with respect, but not too much respect then put them to the sword.

    Was there any doubt.

    HH, the journey continues.

  4. TOM MCLAUGHLIN

Jota, Abada, Biton, Starfelt, Taylor,Maeda, even CCV, have all been reported as finished and that’s just in the last fortnight!

Form will dip, now and again

    .

We need to be more patient.

Good things are happening at the club.

    C’MON THE CELTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A reminder of the word ‘ultracrepidarian’ (19th century): someone who loves to hold forth/criticise on matters they know next to nothing about.

I think that’s what the Yanks call a Monday morning quarterback opinion.

Because going by the comments on here yes there were those who had doubts about how the match would go.

  7. Ernie,

I my opinion there was no doubt as I had previously stated on here.

Couldn’t understand the negativity from some as you rightly point out. It was Livingston not Liverpool etc, etc.

    In Ange we trust.

  8. I suppose I was one of the cautious ones when I seen the team I was a bit apprehensive . We were playing a side we have had trouble beating over the past few seasons ,without JJ abada hatati big gg but I know nothing as we buried our bogey team yesterday . Are celtic fc its supporters ever going to take on this bbc network. It has been beyond a joke for years and its getting steadily more putrid .

  9. Tom McLaughlin on

I noticed Joe Hart resorted to the big hump up the park a couple of times yesterday. I suspect Ange has had a word and told him it’s ok to do it now and again as he sees fit.

  10. I posted this during the game. I meant it sarcastically. I was too close for comfort

    “6TH MARCH 2022 12:20 PM

BBC producing a 2 hr special as to why we shouldn’t have been awarded the corner we scored from

Alex Rae stars as an anxious bystander”

  11. Based on the current top 6, mirror fixtures would give us 4 home after the split (Rangers, Hearts, Hibs and Livi) with Ross County away. To balance home/away, don’t rule out another trip to Livi.

  12. Uncle Jimmy, I don’t have the pleasure of watching ‘Sportscene’ here in Ireland but I can only imagine. While I thought the penalty was harsh, but did his arm not change the direction of the ball? I thought too that the corner came off Ralston last. But was there any comment, please note this is a rhetorical questions, about the number of times Rogic and others were clearly fouled and nothing was given. As well as that the incredible instance of Taylor being pushed in the back, then tripped all of 5 feet away from the linesman and Taylor was penalised for handball?!

  13. Eight games in February gives way to half that in March, and we have played and won two of them already. Might be some International football for some of our players, not sure about our Portuguese bhoys though. Perfect result for us yesterday, achieved via a good all round performance. Got to hope we really benefit over the next couple of weeks or so, in both the cup and the league. Fair play to Livingstone for making so much of their ground available to our supporters, though it really is a pity they do not have to have a decent grass pitch, given that it would catch more sunshine/daylight than probably any other SPL ground. Special mention to our own Old Firm supporters, keep up the good work on the bigotry, and especially on the sectarian ditties, chants and songs. Not sure If I heard ‘Roamin’ though might have missed it, if so I’ll be looking forward to hearing it up at Dundee a week today. You are doing us and your families proud. We are not half of anything, we are a whole lot more than that. We own the copyright.

  14. Wonder if the hype around how long it had been since we won at Livi had an effect on them. Felt we very comfortable from the beginning and they weren’t in our faces , maybe we were too quick. Only really at set pieces did they threaten.

Still haven’t seen a good game on that pitch but I reckon that’s as close as we’ll get.

  15. McPhailBhoy

Yes ,big TR was continually fouled and at least once had a go at Walsh.McGregor also pulled him up in the first hjaalf for NON FOUL.

Cheets today. Cheats tomorrow. We just need to concentrate on what we can do.

  16. Delighted with both yesterday’s result and performance. Celtic were immense. Great performances by all of our players who got wellied in and matched Livi blow for blow and then beat them with skill. That’s the way to do it!

On another note, for years it seems everybody connected to Celtic has become obsessed with these horrible plastic pitches. Every season it’s the same old story. We’ve got to live with it folks. The SFA/SPFL aren’t going to change anything soon. I would ban all talk of the pitch on the build up to these games. As soon as we start moaning it undermines our effort and it hands the opposing manager and players a huge advantage. They know we have reservations, worries about playing on the artificial surface – on other words we are FEART. No wonder our record at Rugby Park, Hamilton and Livingston is poor. It galvanises them and they make it a physical battle for 90 minutes where we don’t get a chance to show our skill. We also give our players a ready made excuse for a poor performance. It has become a bit of a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Yesterday Ange showed how it’s done. Win the physical battle and then win the game. Every time a Livi player got the ball, he seemed to be immediately surrounded by four Celtic players who won possession back quickly. In future we should bloody well just get on with it like every other club in the league.

The famous NY Jets quarterback, Joe Namath, when asked if he preferred grass or astroturf said, “I don’t know. I’ve never smoked astroturf.” That should be the attitude of our players. Shrug it off, ignore the media, and get on with the game.

  17. I also think the weather played its part yesterday. A bright sunny day certainly enhanced the feel good factor. ( Even in the pub )

Was expecting to see a white Summer ball yesterday instead of the winter yellow one 🙂

Cue Frank Haffey and the orange ball pun.

    HH.

  18. The referee got the big calls right yesterday, but the BBC was also right to highlight the things he got wrong. and referring to the rule book was a master class

The penalty was not a penalty, the rules clearly state “the ball struck johnstons hand just once, and he didnt block it with two hands”

The first goal, clearly Aitken stole the shy.

The 2nd goal, Both Maeda and an on the ground injured McGrory were ahead of the play and blocking the goalkeeper from saving the own goal.

The 3rd goal, the ref should not have played advantage. as Patsy Gallagher having been hit 3 times should have done the decent thing and went to the floor, but no he keeps running as the livi players stop waiting on a whistle than never comes.

Other than that celtic can count themselves fortunate to encounter theit favourite referee again, do they get to pick the officials themselves.

I’m sure it did. They had a point to prove and they rose to the challenge with the best performance since the huns game. Just hope they can sustain that form.

  20. At the second foul on Rogic by a player who had already been booked the referee played on to give celtic the advantage. When play stopped he should have booked the Livingston player and then red carded him.

We played sevco last season and Beaton booked Callum. Callum then committed a second foul and the referee played the advantage. Sevco scored and then he booked Callum and sent him off. Neither of Callum’s fouls were any where near as bad as the Livingston player’s fouls yesterday.

Was this highlighted in the media? I don’t take my news from glasgow.
