Loanees already looking for a new club

137

With leagues across Europe finishing last weekend a host of Celtic loanees are left wondering if they have any future at the club.  Albian Ajeti and Vasilios Barkas, both signed for big money and both under contract for another year, have been told to find another club, as has Ismaila Soro, whose contract also expires next year.

Osaze Urhoghide and Liam Shaw are both 22-years-old and young enough to still have development opportunities ahead, but are unlikely to see Celtic Park action again.  Expect them to attract loan and permanent transfer interest.  Our Sheffield raids from 2021 have not been fruitful, maybe stick to United next time.

Liam Scales is wanted at Aberdeen on a permanent contract basis, while Johnny Kenny and Yosuke Ideguchi remain on loan until the end of the year.

Adam Montgomery’s season at St Johnstone was fruitful for player and club.  Still only 20, Adam will hope to kick-on next season.  With Saints staying up, a return to Perth would be good for the player.

Mikey Johnston (24) has another three seasons on his Celtic contract and returns after a year in Portugal, where he was on the periphery of the Vitoria Guimaraes team.  On the plus side, he is now a full Ireland international and has that dribble on his highlights reel.  His breakthrough season at Celtic started five years ago, since then the positive signs have slowed.  He is a player, but it looks unlikely he will return to the fold.

Families sometimes bring out the best and worst in us, but they’re all we have. So happy for you and your da that you’re in touch. I really hope you get to spend good time with him; once a da, always a da. And No. 1 son it seems!

Hail, hail to you and your da

Where does MJ fit in? We already have 5 regular first team players for two places and they are all better than MJ (in my opinion). JF is obviously past his prime and will not get many games in 2023-2024 but he is not likely to move to another club or retire just yet. Young Summers, I guess, is liked by Ange and will be given chances to play next season.

I cannot see any real likelihood that there is a space for MJ in the squad.

A talented ball player for sure but his time at Celtic is probably over.

  5. The last time I saw. Young Scales in the hoops was a home match versus Well ( I think) , he got hooked at half time , essentially because he found it impossible to get the ball out of his feet quick enough to play in the left midfielder, Reo , our whole left side was dysfunctional for that 45.

Young Scales will he sold to the highest buyer

  7. A Massive ” Thank You” to all on here who have Posted good wishes about my DA etc.

He was always a ” Larger than Life” Character who enjoyed following Celtic, and the Vodkas and the ” Wummin”, with a wee Bet on the Horses thrown in.

Despite being a Big Celtic Man, there were many Huns who liked and respected him over the years.

Some of the other Huns were just probably ” Feart” of him, although he was a Gentle Giant, who would only react…IF Provoked etc ?

I will miss him IF he doesnt survive this latest illness, but hopefully he will be out of any Pain he may be in at this time ?

He was the Glasgow Hackney Taxi Association ” Chairman /Ticket Convenor” back in the day, and he NEVER FAILED to get Tickets for any game.

He even took me as a young 13 year old to Ibrox one European night against GORNIK of Poland. We had seats in the Main Stand, and we really enjoyed watching Gornik tear the Huns apart that night, by winning 3 – 1.

He also took me to my first Celtic game at Celtic Park against Stirling Albion ( I think)…the Celts WON 5 – 2 IF I remember correctly. I think it was Season 1962/63 ?

Once again Thanks Bhoys…..and Thank You to my DA for ensuring that I was a Celtic Bhoy for all my Days.

    ______

I might be wrong but I Think Summers is a midfield player. He’s certainly played there on the few occasions I’ve saw him and has looked good. Jamsie has contributed very little this season and he isn’t getting any younger or less prone to injury. Haksa has only looked good, coming on as a sub. Abada has been linked with a move in the past several months. I think and expect we’ll l recruit at least one other wide player.

  13. Big Jimmy: Enjoy your visit with your da tomorrow. Delighted you got a chance to reconnect.

  14. Evening all.

Just catching up with the blog.

Big Jimmy, enjoy the precious moments with your Da.

You have recalled lots of stories about your Da. like yourself, a bigger than life character.

AS BRRB mentioned, I was not aware that your Da was still alive.

At heart I know you’re a big softie. I’m so pleased that you have this opportunity to meet up with him after this long time.

    Your pal,

  18. Mrs TET has been making me sad, she has had me have a clear out, being a hoarder, trust me it’s hard, still, made a few bob today selling stuff that has been sitting in the garage for years doing eff all, so it has it’s positives I suppose, but still hard getting rid, nothing surer that I will need the things soon enough, hence the hoarding, what a vicious cycle.
