Celtic loanee Gustaf Lagerbielke made his debut as a late substitute for FC Twente last night. He helped the Dutch side secure a point at Manchester United, after Sam Lammers equalised with his fourth goal of the season. Lammers has now scored more goals in two months for Twente than he did during his time in Scotland, which saw him arrive for €4m and leave for half that amount. It would be a great irony if Michael Beale’s eye for a striker proved more effective than his successor’s.
Tonight, our Coefficient Monkeys are in action against Sead Haksabanovic’s Malmo. Sead left Celtic in the summer and has played only 23 minutes for the Swedish club after an uninspiring spell at Stoke last term. A Pavlovian Response will kick in during the game, but right now I’m indifferent about how this game turns out. The coefficient points have proven hugely beneficial in recent years. More of the same would be handy, it’s not as though Hearts are likely to step up.

QUADBHOY – re bikes etc
Same as you, I use the bike as a recreation/mental health tool. It’s a Bolt CR (for cafe-racer) model and that’s pretty much what I do most; jump on, drive an hour, grab a coffee and return. Some half-day rides w pals in Melbourne’s Yarra Valley and Mornington Peninsula (where MELBMICK used to live).
I don’t drive for speed much; but the sound on the aftermarket Delkevic pipe is pure kwality.
Will it make me happier to wake up finding the currants have nudged the co-eff up a bit higher, or finding they got horsed by Malmo ? The latter. Totally. HH
Labour now getting DWP to snoop into Pensioners bank accounts, with the help of the banks,to see if any” Fraud” ” is being commited.Like having a bit extra, which if you declared, would cancel you from any benefits you might be on.You know, that we bit extra to survive.Bastards.While Starmer and cronies stuff as many freebies as possible in the boot of their Limos.
This across the board withdrawal of the ” Heating allowance”.How is fair that Pensioners in the North of Scotland, sitting in minus temperatures in Dec- Jan,can be put in the same boat as those in the South of England,in same period with temperatures around 8 -12 degrees warmer?.
BETTER TOGETHER?.
I am with those who ALWAYS want to see the Huns lose.
All I can say is that if any success by them in Europe helps us then it softens the blow a little but it is still a blow :-))
Don’t know about you, but I saw a headline somewhere asking if Engles is the best player in Scotland.
FFS, the guy has played about an hour in total. I am 100% confident he has all that is needed to become that, but give the guy a break
KINGLuBO
Did Henrik score 3 at aorld cup will being a Celtic player ?
I suspect most of us are like the scorpion that stung the back of the frog when it comes to the Huns winning matches. I want them horsed tonight.
TURKEYBHOY
Could not agree more. I’ve been a Socialist most of my life , but this current shower of shit, are TORIES in disguise by my book. And I thought Sunak was bad ffs
KINGLuBO
Meant to say, I still fancy a Scotland free of those bastards, but getting good Scots is a difficult challenge, to run the place

I think he way the new coefficient points system works – you get a 6 point bonus just for being in the CL group and bonus points for where you finish in the group means that we’d probably get roughly similar points from both competitions from relatively similar performances.
With all that has been said about our co-efficient points, or, should I say the lack of them, it is more important than ever that the club is in good financial health and in good hands.
There will be chances to add to our tally and hopefully turn the corner as the relevant bad years drop out of calculations. However unless and until that happens, we will need the insurance of the cushion of our financial stability should we routinely face 2/3 CL qualifiers and fail to overcome. This is a prospect that those who run our club will be well aware of and will have loomed large in their budgeting going forward.
In hoping for the best possible outcome we are all on the same page, planning for an alternative scenario well in advance is prudent and what differentiates Celtic from its rivals.
Finally, the Ibrox club ‘ploughing away’ in the Europa, or, Conference, Leagues and picking up co-efficient points that could be to our advantage bothers me not a jot.
Hmmmmmm…….., I see the logic but I can’t see “c’mon the huns” catching on with many 😂
The list of Celtic players scoring at world cups is a short one.
Henrik scored 5 across 3 tournament a only. 2 while a celt.
i hope the huns get pummelled
Gerrintaethum Malmo!!!!
Does Tom Boyd scoring for Brazil count?
GGH
Oh I say…..
OK I’ll admit it – I chuckled out loud when they lost to kyiv.
But that was about money and the fact that they do much better gathering coefficient points in the EL than the CL.
Plus a wee bit about them losing.
In terms of EL wins? Financially marginal. 0.4 national coefficient points would be welcome.
Hrvatski Jim – I really enjoyed your post.
Thanks for sharing.
Turkeybhoy – agree with you re Winter fuel payments.
Marginal economic value.
Poor politics.
Terrible optics.
Strange first stake to drive into the ground.
I cannot see any logic at all other than “sod them, they don’t vote for us anyway” … and I can’t believe it is that.
BTW reading back last night’s comment by me about the leader article … I think I might owe Paul67 an apology.
On reflection it sounded more aggressive than playful.
Soz, Pablo. Absolutely love this site.
As for the point made – I think others developed and framed it better than I could.
By now the pathway is clear.
If we win the league we’ll play 2 qualifiers to reach the group.
With a bit of luck we’ll be seeded in the first.
If we get through that? We need to be ready for the second in late August.
I don’t doubt the difficulty or the peril.
But still achievable.
Footballers should enjoy the moment.
You never know what is round the corner.
Take this guy?

Now? Merely someone’s dinner.

……..…
Only one man speaks the truth about that and if Tims had voted for his Workers Party instead of all of the anti workers parties then you folk in UK wouldn’t all be sitting on death row waiting for the dreaded knock on the door.

Huns…..
They lose today:
Co-efficiant points to help us. GOOD.
They get a confidence boost. BAD.
They are less likely to fire Clement in the short term. GOOD.
They get a money boost. BAD.
So, yeah….I could go either way. But I’d prefer they get thumped.
Weeron.

Of course it is achievable – agree 100%
This squad has the potential to consolidate and improve, plus we have the scope to strengthen with additions in January ’25 and in the following summer window.
However if we fail, the Europa League will not be a disaster although we will have to dip into the bank balance – that is what it is there for!!!!
As you infer, winning the league title is what makes all other routes possible – I
Mom the Malmo!

That was funny!

I’m firmly in the Fek the huns camp. Want them to lose every time that horrible strip sets foot on a pitch.
Thought I heard on the ol’ wireless today that the huns old and new have never won in Sweden….
Turkeybhoy,
The WFA removal is a disgrace and is frankly indefensible.
It is good to see the Labour movement give the government some common sense at the Labour conference. . Non binding, maybe , but as we all know there is no such a thing as a good defeat.
However you are aware that It is a devolved payment in Scotland.
The SNP government also had a choice.
They chose to continue with pretendy Scottish Embassies, the hate crime bill, ringfenced Indy Ref 2 monies, Gaelic signage, highest taxes, kid on net zero projects, Ferguson Marine, etc etc.
We have a colder climate in Scotland. The SNP choice is even more dispicible that Labour’s.
BRRB
You know I can’t resist a poor attempt at humour.
Greenpinata
Scotland also has
Free prescriptions
Free elderly care
Free tuition fees
Whereas in England we get diddly squat
We drop 10 co-efficient points this season and we have gained 8 points so far. At least 6 points for cl participation and 2 points for our recent win. We need at least one more win to stand still. The season after 3 points drop off our tally. I would hope that we will see an uplift in our co-efficient points over the next 2 seasons.
I think this is a fairer distribution than before given the quality gap between the champions league and lesser European football. I actually think cl league phase participants should get a min. 8 co-efficient points ( 1 point per game played) to protect the succesful clubs from smaller leagues.
Why should teams playing in far poorer compititons pick up the same co- efficient points per win and when the opponents are by any measure poorer.
Emeraldbee – cheers.
Teams are lining up in Malmo. I can come up with even funnier.
Connor Barron is handsome.
Gene on 26th September 2024 5:45 pm
Free personal care not free elderly care, everything else is contribution based and not free
WTF was that?
Free prescription not true we pay more % of tax than in England = not free at all.
Ps no worries about paying more, think good if used correctly
Stephbhoy
On that basis if you pay tax then nothing is free.
Has Diamonde ever been booked in a derby game?
Yellow card after 10 minutes tonight.
