Look under the bonnet at Killie

647

There is no outrage louder than moral outrage, so I ignored this week’s stupidity by Kilmarnock chairman Michael Johnston, adding volume seemed moot, but if you look below the bonnet of this decision you’re likely to find the real story.  Kilmarnock FC is in a critical condition.

They need your money this week, probably even more than they need the goodwill of their own fans.  Mr Johnston’s most damaging folly has not been to offer Celtic fans a better deal than his own club’s supporters, it has been the failure to address the club’s financial imperative over a long number of years.  Like another club I can think of, getting cash in the door is the only game in town, as a failure to do so would bring enormous consequences.

It is the Killie fans who suffer as “Speaking as a solicitor” Johnston clings to what passes for power at a busted flush.  Don’t apologise for this week’s self-harming insult, instead be contrite about the actions which brought about the problem.

  1. Snake,

I overheard two guys talking at work and they mentioned utd, Aberdeen or hearts to win it now. (One was a jambo)

I piped up with ‘what aboot the league leaders?’

Im sure hibs were the last out of that lot to win it. On Monday the talk was no-one bar us will win it.

Morton apart as I think they have had their cup final, I wouldn’t bet against any of the rest winning it. Our pain is defo the rests gain.

“Up until that point Hooper had been awful. He looked slow, his touch was awful and he could certainly shed a few pounds (couldn’t we all), but when it came to putting the ball in the back of the net Hooper did his job – and he did it again in extra-time”

good luck to him, he’s well missed

  3. Paulsatim – that appointment seems like a declaration of intent to me. Was already keeping an eye on developments but intrigued now.

  4. Serie A news .

A 3-3 draw away to Bologna keeps Allegri in a job [ till the next game anyway ]

AC Milan are 12th in Serie A . 10 points off the top [Roma] and 3 points of the bottom [ Catania ].

Matri had one of his couldn’t hit a barn door nights. Missed an absolute sitter. Jeered by AC Milan fans throughout the game.. Given a 4/10 by the Fitba Pink [ ” offered nothing “].

Juve won 2-1 away to Chievo . A joke of an Honest Mistake [ no surprise ] prevented Chievo taking a 2-1 lead with 40 minutes to go…

Napoli needed two fab saves from the goalie [Reina] as they struggled to a 1-1 at home to Sassuolo.

Inter play Fiorentina tonight. A game that might merit watching .

  5. I wish Fergus McCann was our leader at this time because he would’ve sorted that lot at the SFA out with this corruption

  6. I’m kind of loving that fact that anybody with £1M of RFC shares this morning has just lost £30k from their shares on the basis of somebody selling 274 shares (£130 worth).

While I have no truck with Kilmarnock (or Hearts for that matter), what irritates me is that the SMSM will use their predicament to suggest that the deid team needs be playing in the top league for the good of Scottish football.

I know what you are saying. The very idea that a team who vastly overspent, cheated on salaries, ignored the taxman, the National Insurance, and fiddled hundreds of creditors out of their money,to survive and prosper in the SPL,could be held up as the reason some teams, who acted fairly throughout, are in financial distress is mind boggling.

    Wont stop the MSM though.

Mibbe someone could ask the Board at the next AGM, the following questions.

    1. Is Amido Balde a real person or a figment of our imagination?

    2. Is he a football player?

    3. Who signed him?

    4. How much is he being paid?

    5. When will we see his like again?

    6. is big Mo coming back in January?

  9. Actually not loving that fact that said £1M shareholder has just gained £6100 on the basis of a 16 share buy (£8).

Not by me,can we not get over this guy please, his delaying tactics and lack of commitment caused our Manager to be distracted from proper preparatory work, to the extent Russell was avoided as he weakened the ” please stay Gary” argument.

Wasn’t missed vs Barca at CP but was missing in Nou Camp.

  13. DBBIA @ 15 48 ..

Yes . 26 th Palermo Manager to get his jotters from Maurizio Zamparini.

Heard Zamparini on the radio this am —– said it was ” regrettable ” and added that he regretted giving Gattuso the job and regretting that he hadn’t sacked him sooner. New guy has signed a 2 year contract and has promised ” sweat “.

Fitba blogs haven’t been slow to suggest that a well past it Gattuso would fit nicely into the current AC Milan defense.

Yep I’d go along with that. If the situation regarding possible reduction in ticket prices was known in advance then the individual takes their chances, or not as the case may be.

    HT,

Sftb laid it on a plate for ye but it still had to be put in the net. Very funny :)

I take it your gripe is the rip off reduction and not the fact killie are punting them on to our fans?

    ———-

I’m delighted that Killie are selling tickets to Celtic supporters. It’ll result, hopefully, in a bigger crowd and better atmosphere.

My gripe is that most of us bought tickets when they were at the set price of £26. It’s grossly unfair that these tickets are now available at £20 when there was never any indication that they would be at the initial sale.

Quite irked by this and it may result in Saturday being my last visit to Rugby Park until their chairman is removed.

Something that is within the gift of the clubs and supporters of the game in Scotland can be done to address this. That something needn’t require seismic change in the wider playing environment or media market to effect meaningful and positive change.

What do you mean by this?

You obviously put a lot of thought into your post, you would think it was out of the “LM” manual.

In my experience of watching these coaches(clones) in action,I came to the opinion that most didn’t have a original thought in their heads

It always concerned me that a number of these luminaries we’re not adverse to using “Bully Boy” tactics allegedly ,on and off the field, not an example for young boys.

BTW John Collins ,I believe ,left CelticBC after suffering a leg break then was allowed to disappear of the radar.

Really mickbhoy1888, you had us all fooled for a while there.

    South of Tunis –

I picked up a Don Letts dub compilation the other day on (very heavy) vinyl. As I was listening in my back garden eating some home made zabaglione ice cream I thought “this must be what it’s like to be South of Tunis”. My illusions were shattered when I later went down the pub and checked out the local “talent”.
