Losers of the Durrant outburst

450

Who are the losers from the recent Ian Durrant outburst?  It’s certainly not the Pope, nor any his co-religious.  I don’t even know if it will be Durant himself, who, incredibly, “meant to cause no offense”. Durrant’s status, whatever it is worth, will be assured by what happened.

The consequences will be imperceptible, part of a slow drift of affinity away from a football affinity which was once elevated by such sentiment and, in the 21st century, limited by it.  Sponsors are not the first to leave, it’s the fans with more between their ears than Durrant. The losers are the club and fans.

Sipsini at 10.07 , Nicholas and White should have been told by Celtic they were no longer welcome at Celtic Park after their comments but unfortunately as Sky covered our league and champions league matches , the two of them were allowed back.

The amount of ex celts in the media who regularly criticise us shows the media’s attitude towards us with the likes of Walker and Nicholas happy to oblige. Tom Boyd and Tosh McKinlay dont conform so no media gigs for them.

Good night all and sleep well.

  4. Pog: Forres a jolly good fellow, and so say all of us!

Sounds like a plan, but only if you desist with the tales of Bierstüben und Weißbier. HH

  5. Thanks to Grand67, our local intrepid man in the know when it comes to rumblings of trouble and confrontation in the far flung outposts of Teuchter Timdom.

Tonight, in dispatches (with pictures) he told of a battle looming on a precipice above foaming highland waters. A battle not seen or heard of since the Brigton Billy Bhoys had foolishly tried to capture the Oatlands’ Bridge from the gallant Young Cumbie.

At first it seems that it was but a chance encounter on that sheer drop, by two sworn enemies…But within a few minutes as if by magic, arrived their hauners.

Insults were exchanged, threats called, curses cast and both parties knew that this was it….the final call, for the final curtain….a final of finals.

The questions would soon be answered,

Who would be toasted? Who would be roasted?

Who would be take a bath? Who would end up in soapy bubble?

Would Duck a l’orange also turn out to be Duck Cordon Bleu?

Who would be Daffy and Who would be Dafty?

Most of all who would end up Donald Ducked?

Would everyone finally end up in hot water or would the plug be pulled on their hopes and dreams as they finally disappeared down the drain?

Grand67 has promised to keep me informed, but in the meantime (please don’t click on these photies if you are of a sensitive nature or a vegan) here is his graphic evidence from the early skirmishes.

I was very surprised how well my nephew was treated by Durrant when he signed for Dumbarton. They had Celtic/ Rangers banter but no more. He was a gentleman towards my sister, even getting them tickets for Celtic Euro matches that were sold out. This was not my perception of Ian Durrant. My impression of him is matched with today’s news. Sadly.

Rule number one for me .

Judge people on what they do rather than on what they say.

Particularly in this case , when there may have been , on the balance of probability :-) , ” drink taken ” .

One FTP to a bunch of the unclean doth not a bigot make.

Shamefully , I must admit that , in the past , I may well have been overheard entoning ” FKB ” and perhaps even ” FTQ “.

    O me miserum.

    A wee prayer

O most holy apostle St Jude

Faithful servant and friend of Jesus

The church honours and invokes you universally, as the patron Saint of hopeless cases,

Of things almost despaired of Pray for me.

Make use, I implore you, of that particular privilege given to you,

To bring visible and speedy help where help is almost despaired of.

Come to my assistance in this great need that I may receive the consolation and help of heaven in all my necessities, tribulations, and sufferings, particularly “Stephen Houston” and that I may praise God with you

I promise, O blessed St Jude, the ever mindful of this great favour, to always honour you as my special and powerful patron, and to gratefully encourage devotion yo you.

    Amen

    All the best today Stephen
