Losers of the Durrant outburst

450

Who are the losers from the recent Ian Durrant outburst?  It’s certainly not the Pope, nor any his co-religious.  I don’t even know if it will be Durant himself, who, incredibly, “meant to cause no offense”. Durrant’s status, whatever it is worth, will be assured by what happened.

The consequences will be imperceptible, part of a slow drift of affinity away from a football affinity which was once elevated by such sentiment and, in the 21st century, limited by it.  Sponsors are not the first to leave, it’s the fans with more between their ears than Durrant. The losers are the club and fans.

Jeezo billy ….. what you making with that list of unsavoury ingredients???? Hun stew????

You can add me to the list of non legbreakers. But given that I also Hail from the ‘tooth for a tooth’ sport of rugby, I do hope a challenge comes into his nether regions with some considerable force.

    Jamesgang….

‘tooth for a tooth’ is actually from the Bible (Exodus 21:24), not rugby, big man

So, in keeping with the Biblical theme ….instead of a leg break, I suggest the first nine plagues of Egypt be visited upon Sevco…

Plague 1 — water turned into blood; fish died. …

    Plague 2 — frogs. …

Plagues 3 and 4 — biting insects and wild animals. …

Plagues 5 and 6 — livestock disease and boils. …

    Plague 7 — fiery hail. …

    Plague 8 — locusts. …

    Plague 9 — darkness.

But, if we are going to go New Testament instead, I’m pretty sure that Jesus said ‘turn the other cheek’… not ‘kick ’em in the nuts!!!’

Although as everyone knows, Jesus was fond of sandals, and they aren’t really the best footwear for giving someone a hoof in the knackers …. had Jesus been wearing his Doc Martens that day, we might have had a very parable …

Imagine standing there watching your son getting his leg broke by a thug who repeatedly flouts the laws of the game and stands over him laughing , because that is exactly whats going to happen to one of our players .

Credit to you and Jobo and any others that can look the other way …..

How did the player that done John Kennedy get on after he ended Johns career .

I will always contend that it would have been better if Jesus had been born a Samoan.

6’4’’, 300 Pounds. Runs the 100 as fast as Bolt. Rips your head off to get the ball. Then as he helps you up, you notice the sign of the cross on the strapping on his wrist.

    ?

You’ll remember also – cos you’re an auld bassa and were probably there! – that he wasn’t averse to flinging a raj when faced with the sin of rampant capitalism in the temple.

And finally – and this you will know from your divinity studies – he always wore a BobMarleyCSC badge of his goonie thing.

  10. okay on a thread from last night, I f—— the queen and king billy millions of times but what I have never done or would ever do is f— or swear at or denigrate a member of the protestant clergy, that goes from the archbishop of Canterbury down to the local parish minister, in all honesty my village of glenboig was 70 percent catholic, but the local church of Scotland minister the reverend king, used to walk around the village and say good morning or good afternoon and everyone to a man or in this case bhoy would say good afternoon mr king, always called him mister would that happen in say larkhall if a priest walked round that is the difference between them and us hh.

  11. Marspapa, my friend. I didn’t say anything about looking the other way. And I don’t have any problem with one of our players making a perfectly timed 50-50 tackle on Naismith which may curtail his abilities for the remainder of Sunday’s game. I’m sure I’d smile if that were to happen. But I just can’t take the extra step of wishing long lasting serious pain on anyone. Well, certainly not in the context of sport.

    Hey B.

I hope I don’t sound sycophantic, but good ghuys like you, of which there are a good few, are the reason I decided to give CQN another go.

I don’t understand ( I genuinely don’t) why posters cannot have a difference of opinion without resorting to name calling.

I agree about the potential of players being injured, I am of the strong opinion, that all clubs should be questioning why our refs, appear to referree differently to almost the rest of world football. Sort the refs, sort the hammer throwers.

Clubs/PLCs have players, who are valuable assets who are being put at risk by very weak refs, they should be calling it out, this nonsense, it’s a man’s game, actually it’s not!! football has moved on from the 50s but some of our refs ,haven’t. Madden being the worse, in my opinion.

Health has been poor, but improving again, so I’m a lucky one.

How are you and your loved ones?

    Hail Hail

David 66 …. the hedgehog one made me laugh …. but, given that there have traditionally been very few camels in Glasgow, I think you may be taking liberties with the second one.

The monarch is the supreme governor of the Church of England, so some may argue/disagree with you.

I’ve had that point of view put to me, like you, I’ve said plenty and I’m grateful that mobiles weren’t around when I was a foolish teenager.

Incidentally, I am still foolish, just no longer a teenager, by a long way. :-)

I’m not talking about the ordinary player that goes in hard and fast (legitimately) , its the sleekits i’m on about for instance the Abeedeen player who rejigged KT’s face with a brutal challenge ….dont know how long i was screaming for somebody ti di him …..

Anyhoo , i get the jist of it i’m in the minority ….

  18. glendalystonsils on

Was feeling quite upbeat about tomorrow night until I learned Rogic is out , Benkovic is a doubt and remembered about James Forrest being suspended. Now the head is telling the heart to get a feckin grip.

I really like what I’ve seen of Benkovic , i just hope he’s not going to be Jozo mark 2.

I’d have struggled not to have sought equal retribution for John Kennedy or KT in the Cup Final. Also KT was so lucky not to have the JK outcome when the Motherwell thug went through him right in front of me at CP. (not even a yellow if memory serves).

But in the cold light of day in the blog, I won’t wish broken legs on opponents. It didn’t preclude noses, cheekbones, ribs and baws though. And I actually do think we as a team need to be better and quicker at defending our own. Naismith on Broonie being a perfect case in point.

    Hope your evening is peaceful.

I’m off to see Vusi Mahlasela next week …. an old South African activist/troubadour … you may have heard his stuff before, but if you haven’t, I think you would enjoy it ….. this is a song dedicated to his grandmother, who protected him when, as a youngster, the authorities were trying to take him away ..
