Lost in France

207

Of the two loanees Lost in France this season, Issouf Bayo was the one I most hoped would secure a permanent deal.  He was hooked an hour into Toulouse’ home promotion play-off defeat to Nantes last night.  Toulouse need to overturn the result in Nantes on Sunday to earn the cash that will help pay for the striker’s permanent move.

Olivier Ntcham’s move to Marseilles was doomed to failure from the moment Andre Villas-Boas used it as a pretext to resign as manager.  Olivier is a player.  In the right team, he will perform far better than he has on most occasions for Celtic.  I doubt we will see much of him at Celtic, but I would be happy to see him back at preseason training next month.

Is that you lowballing again 😊 I think youre on the PLC board (don’t really just being facetious)

  2. SQUIRE DANNAHER,

Not the greatest example there on Ntcham. When players ping one, twos around you,not much anyone can do.

Right players around him, right system,we have a player on our books.

Cant disagree with with any of that .

The defense took a lot of stick ( justified), but EDDY had chances to put us up and we could have been comfortable in many games we ended up losing points .

For all of that i would love to see him in the team as our wide left player feeding a forward .

Would anyone put the performance of Turnbull or McGregor on par with Duffy? If not, why is Eddy being tied in with Ntcham?

  5. TURKEYBHOY on 28TH MAY 2021 12:22 PM

Anyone who thinks Eddy had his heart in it this year was watching a different player from me.Looked half asleep sometimes.Dozy looking, caught in possession far too often. His,head down,I will dribble by these 4 players, routine lost us possession so many times,if I had been the manager,I would have hooked him.A shadow of the player previously. His 20 odd goal tally not fooling me.Most of them tap ins,not one of his goals, like the ones he was scoring before.I don’t put it all down to him.He cannot play lone striker.Likes coming in from the left too much, but his effort was only seen in flashes in some games.A massive disappointment to me last season. His finest spell, was with Griff along side, short lived by our wonderful management.

No matter,I would still be starting his price at 25 million.

    re Ntcham

i think a coach, could get more out, there is a footballer in there.he has worn the hoops, scored good goals and assists.

alas if he goes good luck..we go on

    It’s a sign…..🤣😂

Wish I was still on twitter, you can see these things build….gets quite exciting.

    Of course could be nothing…..

  13. My tuppence-worth on Ntcham.

Like many overseas players, he would rather be plying his trade in his home country and like all the others it is the opportunity to earn mega-money that lures them abroad.

He is not earning mega-money at Celtic and the chance of a move to the EPL seems to have passed him by. Add in the remoteness factor during Covid, his less than successful loan and my conclusion is that we should move him on as soon as possible.

He obviously has talent but shows it only spasmodically – I just think his heart is not in it….shame because at one time he looked exactly what we needed.

  14. Nice to see RedRed on news ..still no mention of riot…..or from anyone linking large increases in virus to their behaviours

“Cant think of one situation in professional sport where it isn’t about the money”

Thats what I said, I also think the fact that we are still lookjng for a manager is also likely to do with money

“it is the opportunity to earn mega-money that lures them abroad.”

Ntcham left France for Manchester City at 15, I doubt he was thinking about money at that age when he had the chance of going to a world class academy

  17. I wrote Ntcham off quite sometime ago. Two good games a month won’t win you leagues. Ntcham should go.

Concerning to read some journalists claiming we’re only now demanding an answer from Howe…

If we’ve waited this long without having him all but signed up then we’re run by idiots.

    Yep

Howe has played us like a fiddle for several months.

  19. Ntcham has good technique and some great highlights but not enough of them. Not sure he wants to be here, which could be for a million reasons. If you are loaned out and accept a loan out in a season when we were going for the 10, then your time is up at Celtic IMO.

Would sell a few more in our squad.

  20. With regards to Twitter, there is a raft of tweets from the usual suspects this afternoon saying Howe has said no.

correct . Funny my brothers and myself said that very thing , not long after moussa left we played against think it was Hamilton. Or maybe st mirren he got sent off , had absolutely no notion of playing that game . I will get pelters for this but won’t lose any sleep if we don’t see julienne again , big softy of a player and to be honest I have posted my opinion on many occasions regards our twin towers acer as well , but he has improved some the past wee while , I would keep but not for centre half ,midfield is his position imho .HH

Remember seeing a renovations firm here in Oz called the Bonnie Tilers – Googled them and theres an equivalent in Scotchland too.

So Paul – ‘Bayo was the one I most hoped would secure a permanent deal…’

Erm, while I was hoping that a player recommended by Kolo and Lubo would hit his straps given a run and come back to us like the hunskelper we hoped the big unit might one day be. Like Calum and Ryan did when they went away on loan. But…strange times when we hope to get rid of players that never got a good run.

As for Olli – he’s sure silky when he takes it up his humph (no slight intended) to want to play. A bit like Rogic; Shved; Griff; Ryan etc – at Selic, we love they elegant players. But the buns won a league with fightin mongrels.

We’ll wrest the title off The Sevvies with fairweather players and fan-dancers will we? Just with a smarter game plan from Eddie, Roberto, Stevie or whoever else is left to pickup. (BTW Steve Kean’s Victory just horsed Western United 6-1 tonight and is available on a managerial free ;)

IMO, we need players who’ll dig deep, not blanche in the face of some tasty tackles.

Silky Olli, tends to do that a bit as I see it. HH

Oh and I bought a Bonnie Typer SatNav once…

A few posters speculate that the new manage could be Maloney. His team, Belgium, are one of the favourites for Euro 2020, and could reasonably be anticipated to reach the Final. The Final is on July 11, by which time Celtic will have played 2 games. Unlikely, no?

  24. CELTIC40ME on 28TH MAY 2021 1:47 PM

I think it is obvious to me that anyone signing for Man City, at any age, has mega-money at the back of their mind, indeed, anyone who has the opportunity to sign for a top EPL club will be the same. Man City pay mega-money, every player and every agent knows this.

Ntcham could have stayed with his family in France and spent his young years with a French team.

What caused a young fifteen year old boy to uproot, leave home, and head for Manchester…..certainly not the weather – no – the opportunity to be successful and earn mega-money.

If I was EH, I too would say no after the recent events in Glasgow. Neil Lennon didn’t have his sorrows to seek up here. Martin O’Neil had flags planted in his garden.

For those who have an Ibrox allegiance, success can prompt carnage, failure can prompt carnage…carnage is in the DNA.

Events in George Square & before coupled with the sectarian hatred atmosphere that is extant in Glasgow & the West of Scotland would/should put any young manager with a family off.

I lived in London & Northamptonshire for twenty-two years – there is nothing like the football/sectarian hatred that exists here.
