Lost in France

207

Of the two loanees Lost in France this season, Issouf Bayo was the one I most hoped would secure a permanent deal.  He was hooked an hour into Toulouse’ home promotion play-off defeat to Nantes last night.  Toulouse need to overturn the result in Nantes on Sunday to earn the cash that will help pay for the striker’s permanent move.

Olivier Ntcham’s move to Marseilles was doomed to failure from the moment Andre Villas-Boas used it as a pretext to resign as manager.  Olivier is a player.  In the right team, he will perform far better than he has on most occasions for Celtic.  I doubt we will see much of him at Celtic, but I would be happy to see him back at preseason training next month.

Maybe you should ask Marcus Rashford? He might, just might, have more experience of hatred in England than you.

I hope we get Fergal Keane signed up quickly as I doubt well see a managerial appointment until he is in place .

I know the whole restructuring is a complicated process dependent on many factors outwith our control , but I can’t shake off this feeling that we’ve made a complete arse of things .

This is my big worry right now! 1st June could be a decisive date in my thinking

Apologies in advance if this is a stupid question but why does June 1st carry any weight?

  5. timmy7_noted on

That should help the season ticket sales…………………………..not.

Maybe that explains why they released season tickets when they did, the obviously had no faith in Howe signing up.

I guess it doesn’t. I have no inside knowledge. I am as blind in all of this as anyone else.

However, 1st June has been mentioned on this site and others.

Logically, if pre existing contract conditions are the cause of any delay, for any of our targets, such conditions would have an expiry date. An end of a month would seem pretty reasonable to assume.

In summary – ignore most of what i post.

Why on earth would a 15 year old stay in France when he has the chance to develop his career at the best academy on the planet?

There’s a lot more to a 15 year old going there than the chance of future cash. He’s been very poorly advised if he’s making those sort of decisions at that age.

  8. Rumours are Howe and his team are in Glasgow.

Rumours are the deal has collapsed.

    Either way its embarrassing.

Our whole board are not fit for purpose.

This if it is Howe has even taken to long.

Not the way a club the size of Celtic should be doing business.

It is understood football contracts run beginning June till end May.

    1/6 – 31/5

  10. squire danaher on

So if there are any contractual difficulties, they should notionally be resolved as of 1/6 when any such current impediment involving Howe would potentially lapse.

  11. So we seamlessly slip into “Plan B” and Kennedy will be announced on the first Tuesday after the next bank holiday Monday.

If it’s not EH the who, Keane (heaven forfend) Favre, Jack Ross

OOps Harkin , not Keane . Too much Covid news!

  14. Roll up and give the board yer cash, taken for a ride again, we mock them but we accept any old sh**e and will never learn.

Aye it’s ok but you’re a die hard loyal fan.

I think Kennedy was planning A tbh. Howe was plan B when Kennedy showed nothing during his trial period.

    Welcome Jack Ross!

Lawwell leaves a brilliant legacy behind.

  16. JHB – the things you mention would register as a concern with most managers but I don’t think it would be a deal breaker. I very much doubt the vitriol and violence aimed at NL would be experienced by Howe or any other manager. We know why, it goes without saying.

If Howe says no, it will be because he got a better job offer (from his perspective). Not many English managers would turn down an EPL job for the SPFL. And even fewer would fancy taking over the shambles we are in. The managers are no different from the players who would rather play for a Southampton or Newcastle than us. Much better money, competitive games against good teams week in week out and a quiet life too when you want it.

If it is not Howe, I think DD will go back to Keane. Failing that, Clarke.

The other favourite for many is Martinez but there is no chance he is leaving Belgium for us. He signed his last contract with one objective, win the 2022 World Cup. Maloney? No thank you unless it is a coaching position. Unproven in any mngrl role.

  17. PeterLatchfordsBelly on

They wait >3 months for Eddie Howe then fail to land him? Words fail me at the incompetence of this Board.

    Bring back Kevin Kelly!

  18. Best we can hope for next season is DD gets fed being teased by his billionaire friends as we lose every game. And sells his shares ..nothing will improve till he is gone…

  19. The Athletic now reporting alonf g with Mail Online that the deal for Howe has indeed collapsed. Problem is now whoever gets the job knows he was second choice, something that the media will revel in continually letting us know, por cierto

  20. Tom McLaughlin on

Someone expended the time and effort to establish that the ‘Howe talks collapse’ rumour eminated from one solitary tweet which was then shared numerous times.
