LUSTIG BACK ON CALL

MIKAEL LUSTIG has returned to Glasgow in order to bolster Brendan Rodgers’ defensive options ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League qualifier against Rosenborg.

The Swedish right-back was granted additional time off after playing in the World Cup Finals, but was back in harness at Lennoxtown this morning.

Lustig could face a quickfire return to club action with Jozo Simunovic suspended for the Parkhead tie after last week’s red card in the 3-0 triumph over Alashkert.

Rodgers, though, is wary of rushing the player ahead of schedule and has other alternatives in his backline.

James Forrest, who was outstanding against the Armenians, filtered back to cover in a deep-lying role while Jack Hendry paired off with Kristoffer Ajer in the middle of the rearguard.

Dedryck Boyata helped Belgium to a third-place finish in Russia and is still enjoying a family holiday. It is understood that there are no plans to recall him early in order to supplement the defensive choices at the club.
