We’ll all be supporting Mikael Lustig and Georgios Samaras as Sweden and Greece attempt to qualify for the World Cup tonight but the prospect of Lustig, Samaras, Izaguirre, Ambrose, Forster and possibly van Dijk not having a break until July, days before the Champions League bandwagon starts rolling again, is unappetising.
Celtic contributed more players to the 1998 World Cup than any other team. Perhaps as a consequence, we started the new season in third gear, unable to string two league wins together until thumping five goals past a now defunct outfit. A Perfect Day.
Georgios, Mikael, Emilio and Efe are hugely important players to Celtic. They are also players we have an excellent chance of retaining, which in some respects makes it even more important that they are ready for action early than those like Fraser, who until he signs his new contract we can be less sure of retaining.

Neil Lennon is heard by Sky microphones to have called a player a f***ing fa**y.
Two complains wing in and Lenny is hauled before the beaks and given a three game ban.
Now a manager who famously would never utter a profanity calls the same player Neil had a shout at a ghosts, alleges he kicked anything who moved, was responsible for the second consecutive game, for a penalty kick – awards not granted by respective referees – and is called a “ghost” by Derek Adams.
So not only has the player been publicly flayed by Adams but Mr Collum is skewered for his performance and , to a lesser degree, the ref in the St Mirren v Thistle game.
Amazingly the compliance officer has nothing to say regarding the aforementioned Mr Adams’ remarks. He has had at least one formal complain regarding this issue.
To think they used to call us paranoid………..

Having been fortunate enough to see Bobby Murdoch play, I agree that he was the best Celtic midfielder of my time. He was also a bigger goal threat than any of our current strikers.
Bobby was at the other end of the scale to our present midfield crop.
Perhaps Lunny agrees with Adams comments!
Did he not get banned for 8 or so games a couple of seasons back?
Also, he did not see his man Quinn kicking us off the park during a game last season.
Personally I’d like to see more managers coming out with more complaints about crap refereeing.

To see him in full flow, storming through the midfield, ending with either a drive at goal or an inch and pace perfect pass, was poetry in motion.
The brightest star in the Celtic constellation .
One would wish to avoid having a post in the third tier or League 1 division of this blog lest we were tainted by association.
I will, however, add that liberties appear to have been taken earlier, in reference to one’s reverence of all Celtic associated persons. Whilst is true that I did note the attendance of one Dean Park, this was a temporary lapse and has been usurped when literally bumping into big Sutty and Henke at the school gates.

My mind may be playing tricks on this, but……was that in a Cup Final at Hampden(may have been the 4-0 game) at a corner at the Rangers end near the end. If memory serves….did he no blast the ball from the corner straight into them….then shuffled, as Bertie did, away up the park……I can picture it yet….
