In an alternative universe, Wilfried Nancy took over with Celtic having two in-form strikers to make the most of the bounty of chances his radical new formation creates. Yesterday in this domain, he had to watch seven good chances passed up in the first half, while the woodwork was struck four times in the second period. A game which could have matched the legendary 9-0 win over Aberdeen in 2010, came within minutes of ending in stalemate. These are strange times.
After the equaliser, Insightful Kevin paraphrased another Frenchman by saying, “Give me a lucky general”. Bonne chance has been in short supply since Wilfried breezed into town.
The second goal courtesy of an 88th minute Kieran Tierney header. It felt familiar. Four years and six days earlier, Kieran’s right-sided colleague Anthony Ralston, rose even later in a game at Ross County to put Celtic 1-2 ahead, and orientate Ange Postecoglou’s side in the direction of their first league title. Special mention to the guy behind me who couldn’t cope with the prospect of Colby Donovan replacing Anthony, and left before Colby’s match-winning cross for Kieran.
Everything is relative and this Celtic team is weaker than any since 2021. It can still be a league winning side. Yesterday’s win, coupled with the result at Tynecastle, gives the title race more of a two than three-horse race feel, with Hearts unmatched ability to close-out a season the biggest impediment to our success. If you fancy the title going to Ibrox, you can get eight times your money back in five months.
Those of us who have watched Celtic all season might find that a bit generous. I would not be daft enough to put money anywhere near any of the title aspirants. What I know for sure is that every game right now is crucially important. Yesterday’s win was celebrated lustily; rightly so.

LR67,
A birth and subsequent unbroken history to be proud of.
As a club we were founded by Christian clergy with Christian values and this time of year is particularly poignant to our ethos.
A boozy conversation on Sunday discussed all things Celtic. The foundation’s long running partnership with the Salvation Army in the East End was praised as a beacon of hope.
One thing I never knew; The Sally Ann is actually a Religious denomination.
Every day can be a schoolday.

Is Neil Diamond alive again then?
Good morning CQN.
Glad the players have had some short relief from the crazy schedule this week.
I hope and assume they got a recovery session in yesterday, tactical today, 2 days off then tactical session Friday … to take them into two tough away games.
Tough going. Respect to these young men
Auldheid,
Your contributions, especially about FSR, should be compulsory reading for every Celtic supporter. Thank you.
Seems some on here struggling with the fact Celtic won this weekend and played some exciting football. Also that PL is moving on and so less bogeymen.
Hopefully these things don’t spoil Xmas for folks.
Auldheid,
What PARKHEADCUMSALFORD said!
Actually, a serious question from a financial dunderheid. If money-in-the-bank does not count re. football profit the following season for FSR purposes, should that not be an incentive to spend (wisely) the majority of the money made each season?

Back to Basics
Spot on !
It’s been a really gruelling 6 weeks. Mentally and physically for a threadbare squad running on fumes.
7 points from next 3 games would be an amazing return if we can do it. ESP if Hibs can do us a turn.
That could get us to a decent window and hopefully some respite as players begin to return to fitness end of Jan onwards.
Key week at the end of Jan with Bologna Hesrts Utrecht. I think new signings can play v Hearts. Maybe not Europa though.

:-))
You do seem to attract some , IMO unfair, criticism on here. Strange.
Apologies. Someone had messed about with Neil Diamond’s Wiki page so show ‘Died 22nd December 2025’.
Why? God only knows.
I’ve seen some posts saying Tilsdale is away on holiday. others that he was assaulted in Dundee. Can anyone shed some light on this?
I would assume that at the moment his job entails getting some new signings in the door ASAP, including a striker that can play on 2nd January. A striker who is experienced, match fit and not a future talent from the City Academy who will be lucky to get a game before May.
MEANWHILE OVER AT TYNECASTLE:
J”ordi Altena to Hearts transfer hits fast track with rapid medical as Jamestown Analytics find first January recruit
Jordi Altena is set for his Hearts medical today.
The Jambos have agreed a six figure fee with RKC Waalwijk to land the full-back. The Dutch side have given Hearts to open talks and to finalise his move.
Record Sport understands that the 22-year-old is not in Scotland. Altena will go through his medical overseas and if he passes that then he will put pen to paper on a long-term contract.”
Deniabhoy
But surely Jordi Altena isn’t “Champions League Class”
Have Hearts no ambition? :-)
Denia, I totally get your point, but I’ve never heard of Jordi Altena and the “six figure fee could be £100k.
If the headline read “Celtic close to Altena deal for £100k” some on here would literally self combust.

Source? Wiki page. Jesus wept.

If we were submitting a bid of £100k for Altena , his club’s asking price would be £5m -))
