MacLennan safe but look for a face-saver

300

To be fair to the media hacks, the close season can be a bit dry for news, so it is no great surprise to see them continue to a nefarious campaign on inappropriateness where it was established in clear legal terms that inappropriateness did not exist.

I anticipate they will soon be flabbergasted at Steven Gerrard’s general magnificence and move on.  Just like the SPFL already have.  Murdoch MacLennan, a newspaperman, will have to suck it up until then.

Newco and their acolytes now know there is no issue with MacLennan, but they are looking for a face-saver elsewhere.  Keep your eyes open for this.

I did watch the English Scandal thingy and was impressed by Hugh Grant`s portrayal of Thorpe. I have never liked Grant`s style before ( even though I thought some of his films were quite good) but I thought he was excellent in that mini-series.

Agree – was novel to see High Grant play something other than a posh man-child for a change.

The amazing thing about the programme is that it was pretty much faithful to the actual events – even the scene when the airline-pilot-turned-prespective-assasinstuck the cream cakes on the stripper’s thrupneys . If you’d made it up it would have been rejected as being to ridiculous (despite the serious nature of what happened).

  5. I see that Hughes has resigned. Throughout all of the scandalous ebt charade ogilvie and his ilk never stood down,

Listened to Radio 2 today as driving down South

Jeremy Vine show, interviewing a BBC journalist on Thorpe case

This journalist was excellent, and was part of BBC initial investigation team at time of the case, teare the corruption at the time of the Thorpe case to ribbons, this included the cover up within the BBC at the time, don’t know if they do iplayer, but well worth a listen

He quoted quite a few MPs all involved at time, and one who resigned on the day the case started, knocking trial off main news articles that day

    Was on Just after mid-day

  12. Incidentally the journalist also quoted the hand picked judge, for the verdict required

I met Campbell Ogilvie a few times, when my students were investigating the effects the Taylor Report may have on Scottish football stadia. He treated my students and I with the utmost respect; one may even say, dignity. He came across as a thoroughly nice chap

I’d (wrongly) presumed more of the film’s tike would focus on the 66 days.

I think the film and documentary complement each other well and fit together. And I think you’ll end up watching them in the better order. Film followed by documentary.

I like to listen to the BBC to keep up to date with news from the Mainland.

The native stations do their best but standards have dropped since we left the empire. Never get the cricket results and there was no coverage of the Chlesea Flower Show.

  24. Let’s say for arguments sake we only give them 1000 tickets, at £49 a pop is £49.000 x 2 = £98.000… 7000 at £49 is £343.000 x 2 = £686.000, policing and admin costs would be the same, I wonder what our suits will do………..

  27. Gary Hughes is a non executive SFA Board Director who saw nothing wrong with the way the SFA handled the various Rangers issues. He is no loss to us on the face of it. Whether he had a different opinion in private we don’t know. PL saw him as one of the good guys.

Anyway he’s gone and it’s a win for Comical Dave. I hope he’s left so that there can be no accusations of impropriety when the Euro license verdict is delivered and the hammer comes down.

Noe it will be interesting to see who will replace Hughes on the SFA Board. Perhaps that will be an indication as to where the balance of power lies.
