There is money to be made from Celtic. You don’t need to be a player or one of the backroom staff, you don’t even need to sell flags and scarves outside the ground. If you are going through a major story drought and can attach a name to the vacant manager’s job, chances are you will create your two biggest stories of the year.
The same is true of the betting markets. If he leaves Newcastle, Rafael Benitez (third favourite for the Celtic job), has options in China that would make him inordinately wealthy within a season. He is not coming to Glasgow.
Roberto Martinez (fourth favourite for the Celtic job), is manager of Belgium – who top the Fifa rankings. He will take some of the most gifted footballers in the game to the Euro 2020 finals in June and July next year. If he gave that up to come to Celtic he would fail every professional criteria you would want in a Celtic manager. This is simply not the time for Roberto, he and Rafael feature on the betting markets purely to take cash from the gullible.
Jose Mourinho fits the profile of the Benitez and Martinez stories. He is pure 100% show business, a bankable commodity – if you and a journalist or a bookmaker.
What I know for sure is that Celtic want the treble and will do no more than send out holding messages until after the Scottish Cup Final. This is a chance to record another remarkable historic achievement, the Treble, Treble.
Jose could alight at Dalmarnock Station this afternoon but he would not be getting an interview for the Celtic job. Nothing will interfere with Neil Lennon’s preparation for the Cup Final.
Allan McGregor’s sending off yesterday was a truly awful incident but it is wholly the responsibility of the SFA Disciplinary Panel. McGregor has been doing that all season, including against Kristoffer Ajer at Celtic Park.
The Disciplinary Panel decided not to take action, perhaps rendered mute by the sheer volume of red cards shown to other Newco players, but in doing so they established that this was acceptable behaviour. Allow spoiled brats to kick others without consequence and they will continue to kick others.

Forget the speculation and armchair managers.
Neil Francis Lennon is THE Mhan to take us forward.
Unbeaten since he came in, under exceptional circumstances, facing 2 banana skins. The squad rocked by the sudden departure of someone they believed in.
We prevailed.
He galvanised the support, initially. That soon wanted as those who can’t see what’s in front of them continually look for the greenery grass on the other side. Thankfully he continued to galvanise the players.
They responded to him.
What I see from Neil’s team.
Unbeaten.
Not conceding goals.
Winning with last minute goals.
Rising to every big challenge.
Scoring goals from headers.
Scoring from set pieces.
Lenny will also deliver for us in Europe next season. Appoint him now so that those who don’t want him, have time to get behind him.
Only one man for the job.

Of course I would like a shot at Jose as manager.
The glamour and potential supported investments in the playing squad would be dangerous but incredibly exciting.
However back in the real world it will be ‘Neil Lennon’ win or lose the cup final on the 25th.
No way any genuine top level manager would even dream of coming to our league these days.
We can however attract damaged goods and interesting managers with a decent wage.
But that is only if a mid-top club in a big league has little or no interest in them.
Just hire Neil Lennon
It is the sensible ,cheap and low risk appointment.
For me it is a no brainer and Celtic are simply making it look like they have options [A bit like Mr Mourinho]

Mourinho, Martinez and Benitez are fantasy and not worth wasting oxygen over. They don’t fit the Board model. The Board model is king at Celtic plc.
The three obvious choices are Lenny, Moyes and Clarke. The noises are that Clarke doesn’t want it and will return to England. Moyes is a risk, has never managed up here and has a damaged reputation. The job is Neil’s to lose and barring calamities in the three remaining matches I would be astonished if he is not appointed on a permanent basis.
It’s really a pragmatic appointment. The Club don’t have the knowledge and experience in the Boardroom to compete at European level and to attract a top continental appointment. The mentality and ambition are not there. On the domestic front Neil will deliver at least 80 points next season, based on his track record and the squad at his disposal, normally enough to win the title. I can’t see anything other than Neil being appointed.

Actually, 5:40 .
Going for Mourinho would at least show some ambition, even if he didn’t take the job (assuming it wasn’t just a stunt).
Stature-wise ten out of ten (maybe even eleven!); profile-wise maybe six at best.
What it might do is alert other good coaches out there (who we might not have thought of), who may fit the profile a bit better and would see the ambition we have.
Can’t think of too many who cover both stature and profile. Martinez, certainly, but can’t see him taking it this year. Paulo Fonseca would maybe be another.
Adi Hutter would be a good choice but not sure if we would get him now.
No reason we shouldn’t be working on this now, other than we’re not really looking and Neil Lennon is getting the job.
And another thing…
The immense pressure felt since Roland scuttled off was lifted as soon as PC Lustig dived to head that wonderful cross be Oor Cal into the sheep pokey.
I couldn’t care less about the 2 remaining league games. Rest the players that need rested and give the fringe and youth players some experience, playing in the hate cauldron of hades, (©Tontine Tim) in a meaningless game, should be an invaluable lesson and great development for any that will be with us long term.
Have as full and as fit a squad as we can for the cup final. That’s the only other game that matters this season.
