I’m not going to comment on the rights or wrongs of PLs bonus but he doesn’t pay to himself. Nor does he set himself the targets by which it will be rewarded.

  2. lawell 13 attempts at champions league qualiefied 4 oh dear miss samararis big time our European talisman fuck so fed up hooper to sheff wed on loan how far have we fallen

  3. THE GREEN MAN on 26TH AUGUST 2015 12:14 AM

I am repeating myself when I say I don’t care who is on the board.

So I dont have a view.

I am concerned about the news on Eric Riley, but solely from concern about his health.

Again I’m repeating myself, I do that often and it infuriates my wife.

    The supporters provide the revenues.

We pay wages from what we take at the gate, especially given how poor our media deals are.

We pay transfer fees from what profits we make and from surpluses made on the sale of Celtic players.

It’s the way we choose instead of relying on the largesse of sugar daddies.

  4. What a way to let down your supporters….without even having a go.

Sad unacceptable pish of the highest order.

Too much hype and paid far too much.

Diehard supporters having to watch a Celtic team chuck it.

Its too much…total farce the way Celtic are run.

    Gutted

Correct bad performances , but I never saw either of those players bullied . See even tonight , although wee Griffith was wrong in his actions , he was surrounded by Malmö players . Not one Celt came to his aid . Not one . No IMHO the team needs players who can roll up the sleeves , and mix it when the going gets tough .

  7. Enough bullshit form the interloping Hun wanks; here’s how it is –

Virgil – somebody BITE THE HAND OFF anyone ready to sling us £10 million bucks for a centre back who cannot organise his defence to prevent THREE conceded goals in VITAL CL games. SUNDAY LEAGUE hangover stuff. Jesus wept; Watching that, presumably. I wanted double those numbers for the big man; after peeking through fingers at every corner, I’ll take a lucky bag and a sticker album.

Johansen – 3 good months out of 20. Celtic history: Headless chicken – useful, promising chicken – dammit, headless, pointless chicken once again. But aparently un-substitutable…

The Board – usual dickheads queueing up to spout ill-informed, meaningless, factless pish; should we have splurged MONEY on a big signing to guarantee out qualification? Like a £10 million defender? To stop them scoring from basic set-pieces? Like, oh, Virgil?

It’s nothing to do with spend tonight, muppets – no amount guarantees qualification, particularly if your TEAM surrenders like we did tonight.

Broony- Oot yer bed yet, ‘captain’? Such a mainstay, such a hero in the Hoops; hopelessly absent when it counted tonight, stunning absence.

Well done – Craig Gordon, Jamesy Forrest, maybe LG, tho’ he should have converted the vollety first half; give him a striking partner!

Cifti! Hahahahah. Alright, big man – those heavy slippers causing the shuffle? Scepovic? Send out a search party to find and play the only natural striker we’ve got or can afford for the next feckin’ year!

Ronny Deila – finally bringing to fruition the fears of myself and many others who were castigated for daring to question the methodology. Like I posted earlier – the difference between tonight and the Maribor shambles? The bottom line?

I wanted him to prove me wrong, to show me the special ingredients at the right time. To get it over. the. line.

Do you really think Neil Lennon’s Celtic would have buckled like that side did tonight? Are we further along in football progreess? Or has Ronny spent a year placating us with his amiable football ideology, only for the wisened cynics among us to realise the new emperor’s clothes are no more shiny or valid than the previous incumbent’s?

Right now, it looks like the revolution ran out of revolutionaries…

Still, we’re set-up to facilitate new ideas and new coaching…

Whether we adhere to that, only the next few motnhs will tell, but we threw away a CL qualification gift and £20 million bucks minimum with it; letting the Huns see some light, too, from their hellish pit, so well done all concerned…

Well done to Malmo – regardless of gripes they showed what you can do with a motivated unit determined not to capitulate. 2-0 down after 10 minutes, going-on a hiding, they held together and they’ve beat us comfortably over 180 minutes and deserve all credit, even with the sledging, etc – well played Berget, showing he was a capable player after all. If only he’d shed that stupid f#cking Beckham-esque hairstyle and adopted the ‘isolated Grizzly Adams racoon-fisting bald & beardy-psycho’ coiture when with us he might still be wearing the Hoops…

    In the Champions League…

    ..Ronny.

    Ah, F…

    As a kid

The great Glasgow Crltic were all about Europe.

In my mind always were always will.

Anything that deviates from that basic criteria that makes Glasgow Celtic anything other than thee Scottish sport superlative above all others by comparing us to Huns is essentially s useless uneducated prick. Celtic and their history is Europe. Tonight is nothing but a disgusting greedy whore like performance of gargantuan drivel that is going to haunt us for years

  9. Overseasbhoy….

    GET HENKE IN NOW…….

  10. the glorious balance sheet on

Money is too tight to mention at Celtic Park, so lets look at some of our antics with our money over the last 12 months.

Scepovic, signed for £2.4 million last August after we got knocked out of the CL play-off. Doesn`t get a game. So money wasted.

Summer 2015 – objective CL qualification and access to £20 million prize pot. Immediate signings needed – centre half to replace the departing Denayer, and a striker to replace the lesser spotted Scepovic.

    Transfer investments-

Boyata (defender) – £1.5 million plus wages over a 4 year contract. Had played 9 matches in the 2 years prior to joining Celtic so understandably not match sharp for the CL qualifiers.

Ciftci (striker) – signed for a fee of £1.5 million despite only having under a year left on his Dundee Utd contract and being available on a pre-contract in January. Plus wages over a four year contract. Signed despite having a certain lengthy suspension hanging over him so signed with the knowledge that he would not be match sharp for CL qualifiers.

Some strange signings there. Would it not have been better to invest in players better placed to hit the ground running given the money at stake for CL qualification. We could always have got somebody in for that purpose up front and then picked Ciftci up for a nominal fee come January had the manager still wanted him.

Wonder who this year`s “shut the stable door now the horse has bolted” signing will be next week?

On a tangent – I wont be sorry to see van Dijk go. Plays for himself in Europe and always looking to blame others. And for such a so-called talent – he has been party to some of our most auspicious European results e.g. Karagandy 0-2, Maribor 0-1, Legia Warsaw 1-4 and 0-2, Barcelona 1-6, Malmo 0-2, Salzburg 1-3. With him going and Boyata toiling, Aberdeen and Hearts will fancy it this season. Maybe that can be a good thing for us in the long run to be pushed all the way. Shake some people out of their hubris and complacency.

  11. So its the Europa league then.

Lets hope that unlike last year we go through the group by giving good performances.

There will be some good teams there, many better than Celtic.

I will be there supporting them alongside approx 35000 other true supporters.

The missing 25000 or so glory hunters will wait for a glamour knock out stage tie.

  12. overseasbhoy

Maybe not a bad thing…..time for a total clear out methinks……kills me to say it….

  13. Within our wee country we think we feast upon the meat of the bone, but when we are tested by even the most peripheral backwater …

(much like us – though the difference being we have far greater resources than the Mighty Malmo- those European Giants of Immense Pedigree)

… we realise we are served up with tripe for lunch, mince for dinner and prunes for supper.

Sack the Chef and the QuarterMaster ; Sorry Ronnie, you’ve had enough time and you’re not up to it. As fot the PL, well, hopw many duds and failures can he bring into our fold?

It is not an exaggeration, that this continued crud needs some heads to roll.

  14. I think Ronnie has the potential to be a great coach.

But at this time he seems an incomplete one.

He does not have the ability yet to create a complete team.

We have struggled to look like a unit so far this season.

We do not seem to have a plan for the final third of the field and defensively we are rudderless.

We need someone to be a leader at the back but no one is there yet.

VVD has skills but is defensively naive likewise Boyata.

A good team is the sum of its parts but we are not a team.

Our movement stops at the final third were we resort to square passing before we then try to force it and concede possession.

Good teams have a shape and strategy with or without the ball.

We only seem to have one for possession in centre of field.

Would like to see a faster more positive type of play with the outfielders moving as a collective 10 man unit rather than 3 disjointed parts.

  15. I wonder what Bobby Lennox or Bertie Auld think about that gutless performance.

RD says Celtic were scared…..What a joke…….Celtic scared to play in Europe…..that alone should bring tears to your eyes…..is that how far we have fallen.

Scott Brown says he is ashamed….so he fecking should be.

    Its pish

    HH

  16. Abysmal, embarassing ,shambolic performance.Major failure for the manager. The lack of drive and team spirit was evident to me early on.The root cause is much deeper than RD.Lawwell and John Park have squandered millions on a striker.Bottom line ,we went to a very average Swedish team and got well anď truly pumped. How Johansen & Mulgrew finished the game is a miracle. My take is,put Ronny in charge of Lennoxtown, and ask Paul Lambert in.

  17. I’ll say it again…PL is doing the job he’s being asked to do……he’d do it better with more dosh…..chase the arsehole who limits the cash….it’s not Lawell….

Said it 5 years ago when GS left and it needs saying again

Be careful what you wish for.

  19. Green Man.

I think you forgot to mention the CQN favourite Bitton in your character assassination of the Celtic players tonight, caught on the ball to many times and gave away daft fouls again in Dangerous areas.Oh forgot to say lucky not to be sent off.SPFL player at most.Found out at higher level tonight.HH.ps Europa league for us but looking forward to it already. We could be playing Clydebank tomorrow night.Good night and god bless.HH

  20. I remember reading, that after Celric got stuffed out of Europe, I think during MoN’s era, that the board met after a game and decided immediately post match, to review our strategy.

I am fairly certain, that the game was against Porto, and that Brian Q was the Chairman.

    Why is this relevant?

Well, if the board, are entitled to instant, quick fire decisions, then, as a shareholder, ST holder, so am I.

My collective thoughts on tonight, are that the blame must be shouldered by the board, management and players.

Taking each of these in turn.

    The Board

IMHO , our board do a good job, not a great job, but a 7/10.

However they must be held to account on strategic issues, such as the failure of our academy, inability to generate new revenue, and, importantly decision to appoint a rookie manager, with very limited experience, and then support him with a guy with a limited and questionable.

suitability as assistant manager, and another guy, who if we cut to the chase was even more so.

    The Manager

Bottom line is he is no more than an Academy Director at an English Championship Club.

He has yet to win a game that he shouldn’t, repeatedly makes same mistakes, and, IMHO is marginally better than Mowbray or Barnes. If you don’t agree, ask yourself if Barnes or Mowbray would have done any better than RD last season.

I am not proposing we sack RD, but , I did say on here 6 months ago, that I felt we would never qualify for CL under RD, and, sadly I was correct.

    So, what can he do?

I’d suggest he needs to alter his support team – either stop surrounding himself with Yes Men, or, bring in some new face to the coaching staff.

    Finally the Players

This is always a difficult one.

Are they poor players, are they afraid to adapt and change tactics, or, are they simply not up to it.

I believe we have a nucleus of decent players, who are reasonably skilled but either tactically poor, or poorly coached .

As an example, IMHO , the decision to stick with zonal marking, which was exposed by Juve two years ago, is predominantly a tactical issue by management, and to a lesser extent the players.

So, where does that leave us?

Well, in my case, the answer is well and truly p***** off.

If you had offered me Maribor last year, and Malmo this year, I would have taken both.

Despite being ahead in both, RD blew it, as he has repeatedly done.

I wouldn’t sack the manager, yet, but in my view about 60% of problem lies at his door, and I suspect his Norwegian compatriot is having a chuckle at putting one over RD’s tactically naivety.

In answering my own Q, I would like to think that in next 6/8 weeks, as a club and community, we will look at the facts, think through the options , and make a decision.

I don’t know what that decision is, but as per the decision, 12 ish years ago in Porto, it needs to be a game changer

  21. Bet this won’t look any better tomorrow.

I have a bhoy who is sick that he won’t see CL proper this year.

I know with whom the blame lies.

    Do you PL?

    Or Rony & Johhny?

    Utter disgrace! Again!

Wouldn’t lose any sleep if all three of them were gone in the morning.

    We can but dream.

    Abject failures…again.

    Embarrassing.

  22. P.S the fact that the top 5 seeds who entered the 3rd CL qualifying round have all been eliminated tonight puts paid to the ridiculous UEFA theory that it is advantageous to play the second leg AWAY.

I always wanted the 2nd leg to be at home – gives you a chance to size up your opponents on their patch and know what you need to do back at home.

  23. How good would Ronny be with cash….being able to buy players to suit his style……and how good was Berget over the two legs…..Ronnys first signing?….makes you wonder….

  24. “We have shown that [the Europa League] is the level we have to compete at and it is better than nothing. It is a good competition.”

Can’t believe Rony Delia said this in a presser tonight……

    ‘Better than nothing’

    Dear oh feckin Dear…….

    Depressing………….

  25. rudicantfail

I believe that his post match comments revealed his limitations as a manager.

He has been found out again.

We are the ones to suffer…again.

    Sickeningly inept tactically.

  26. Rudi…

What u want him to say…”were not going to take part in that crap competition “???

  27. St Oliver Plunkett CSC on

Perhaps we can now consider binning the ridiculous ‘Huddle’ (seems meaningless to me and a mere promotional activity) and ask the players to stand proudly when Glen Daly’s song is sung? The words of this song seem to epitomise what we are trying to achieve for our club, recognise our history and may focus the players on the actual task in every match.

Sadly, tonight’s performance was the expected result. Any side with our financial advantage and playing ability should be hammering SPL sides every week; four, five and six nil should be the norm. If we can’t do that the European football will always be a difficult proposition.

We have little character in our side. Boyata lying on the ground after the match feeling sorry for himself was pathetic and showed a real lack of character. Better if he had stood up and took the situation as a man with a steely determination to do better next time. This guy and his pal Van Dijk are no Clark and McNeill nor are they even a McManus and Caldwell. The slow play when we needed a goal was utterly disgraceful.

Sadly we have a team of boys instead of Bhoys. Van Dijk…..go to Southampton and be found out. Great in SPL but so ordinary in Europe…just gies the money!

Ronny Deila……perhaps let him run for another couple of seasons. He says he continues to learn so hope springs eternal. Anyway, given our annual budget who would we get that is any better than him?

In summation, the difference tonight was that Malmo players could trap a ball, pass a ball, tackle an opponent, shoot on target and be well organised as a team. I think these things are important.

  28. the glorious balance sheet on

    Wee Minger

I don’t think throwing money at things is the answer either, frankly we aren’t getting enough out of the money that we do spend. We seem to be quite cavalier in acquiring £2million sub-prime strikers and then jettisoning them within weeks. Do we ever carry out any type of investigation into failed signings of that nature and carry out any remedial action? Or do we just carry on as before?

But we can spend better, not spend more, but spend better. If you only have the money to sign 2 players, as we did this summer, try to minimise the risk by not signing crocks or live disciplinary cases who will be on a free soon anyway. I think in many ways we are penny wise, pound foolish.

We should be looking at all aspects of the club from the boardroom to the dug-out, to the academy, to answer why are we being outperformed regularly on the park by teams with a fraction of our resources, why cant we produce any players good enough for our first team, especially when it is declining in quality as it is.

A top – to – bottom, no sacred cows type of review is what is needed with people prepared to face up to things they might not like.

Our club can be so much better run in every aspect.

  29. Also hearing Delia is resigning in the morning…

    Thank feck for that….

Over to you now Lawwell…… Don’t damage the door with yer big fat arse on the way out old Slanty Eyes.

  30. Even after a result like this….we still see the PL hero worship.

Now, enough of this nonsense….somebody needs to take responsibility for failure.

Things need to change….or it will get worse.

The board are dragging Celtic to mediocrity, its pitiful to watch.

Hurts me to see Celtic play like that….badly.
