Managerial talent

Derek Adams propensity to waste time and then complain about time being added on should not obscure the fact that he is a remarkably productive football manager.  Ross County, from Dingwall, population 5,000, are sitting fourth in the SPL and remain in touching distance of a place in Europe.  No need to highlight their Scottish Cup campaign in 2010.

It is, therefore, no surprise that Aberdeen have asked Ross County for permission to speak to him.  On the face of it, Aberdeen should fancy their chances of recruiting Adams but County are confident for a reason.  SPL, and in Owen Coyle’s case First Division, managers have been recruited by well-paying English clubs at levels the likes of Aberdeen cannot compete with.  County chairman, Roy McGregor, is likely to advise Adams to hold off for a more lucrative move south.

When Jimmy Calderwood left Dunfermline for Aberdeen in 2004 chairmen John Yorkston explained his surprise at Calderwood heading north, explaining that he believed one day Calderwood would move to Ibrox.  Aberdeen proved to be a plateau for Calderwood, as it has been for most over the last couple of decades.

If they don’t get Adams chances are they will go back to Motherwell; back-to-back second place finishes are exactly what is needed at Pittodrie right now.

Best of luck to Gordon Strachan on his first competitive game as Scotland manager tonight.

Great minds think alike although at least you can spell dismissal, unlike me!!!

Just been on the receiving end of FIVE different texts and two e-mails telling me the beers are on me as I must have backed the first winner of the flat season at 5/1.

    Naw,never even looked.

Three of them did, mind. So the beers are on them for their lippy attitude!

If I was advising Sandaza (assuming he is dismissed) I waould certainly advise him to seek legal redress, even though I believe they, Sevco5088, probably have decent grounds.

You could rely on just about any other Football Club seeking to settle, leaving Francisco with a few bob in his pocket and free to pursue a living elsewhere.

With Charlie and the Sevconians though? Good chance the money just isn’t there.

    This could get funny.

A constructive dismissal case was the Nirvana for my Dad back in his union days,The Holy Grail, and to be honest,he never forgave his employers for backing down every time he threatened them with one.

He took out his frustration on them time and again………

If Strathclyde police had to take Celtic fc to court to release details of individuals who were subsequently not charged or charged then subsequently found not guilty, IMO it would be humiliating for strathclyde police to continue requesting details

My dad had a similar experience. In those days (50’s and 60’s)they seemed to think a young Irishman was thick and an easy target. Well thick was the last thing my dad was. Many an employer found that one out!!

I see the taxpayer is funding an epl club West ham paying 15m plus 2m per year – the conversion costs are 150m alone.

Getting rid of Kyle and Sandaza will buy 5088 a bit more time. But not all that much.

Sandaza has given Challs an opportunity to save some cash – but it’s unlikely to make much difference in the long term.

Check Weemingers post on the DP.

If at the end of the day the police have the authority to get the information they seek then the worst that can be said is Celtic did not ensure the request was valid or informed the supporter in question that they had been asked to provide their details to the police. That should be done.

I find that quite believable in a world where folk do jobs routinely without full awareness of all the implications of making a mistake than it being a deliberate attempt to undermine the GB.

I cannot see what is in it for a Board to antagonise the very support it depends on to keep the club running. Given that a common charge against the Board is that they are too money oriented, the idea that they are after the GB requires suspension of that other money belief to make this one so. It is emotional for sure but not reasonable and so another reason, as I have suggested above makes more sense.

Apart from that anything the Board do, anything the support do that damages Celtic damages both. That is because we are all part of the same entity. It is the crazy idea that we are not which creates the suspicion. There is no “them” and “us”. There is only us.

I used the term yesterday that “its like taking poison and expecting the other person to die.” I’ll change that to”its like taking poison and expecting the other person to die and being surprised when your own feet buckle under you on the way out.

Supporters have every right to be angry and suspicious but turning this into a Board v the GB argument is exactly what will suit those who are not “us”.

“Us” are in green and white “them” are in blue.

Every unfolding event in the last year screams this at us.

  12. lionroars67 – 14:23 on 22 March, 2013

I don’t think the club will be making them apply for court order to get the details. I suspect that SP are requesting the details on the basis that Mr GB is suspected of committing a Breach of the Peace inside CP (or words to that effect) and we are therefore requesting his address from your ST database. On that basis the handing over of details is legitimate under the DPA 1998.

My concern would be how rigorous the club are being with checking there is a legitimate crime reference number etc. I suspect not very.

In a wee twist on PAUL67’s point about “Do well up here,ye’ll get a decent offer from dahn sarf”,The Sun is suggesting Derek McInnes as next Dons manager.

Sorry, but why the obfuscating by the club on this matter for the past few months? What about the secret meetings, of which I have alluded to for months knowing the detail but been unable to betray a trust and been criticised for on here? What about the nonsense civil proceedings?

Celtic is and always will be the fans first and foremost. Players, management, board members will come and go. Cross us at your peril!!! We are not Sevconians and will not lie down at a few quid being spent and some platitudes. PL and his buddies need to tread very carefully on this one.

My season books are on a shoogely nail and have Ben for a number of months.

We have laughed at the lack of checks and balances from MSM on The Sevconians. Now all I want is checks and balances on Celtic from our own to halt the possibility of a speedy demise in the numbers attending our fixtures. Without this the the Celtic community online and offline will turn out to be as bad as the MSM. Lets not paper the cracks. Lets open them up, find the roof cause and bloody well fix the problems!!!

  21. Coventry City trying the Charlie chuckles smoke and mirrors trick , apparently have put part of the club / business into administration because of monies owed to Stadium owners while claiming the automatic 10 point penalty should not be applied to the Club .

I think Southampton tried that trick and were told to GTF .

I’m sure Southampton were told they couldn’t do this when they tried it , so is it different for football clubs than for other business’s ?

My arguement with any zombies is that The Club is The Company and The Company is The Club , one cannot surely exist without the other.
