Football is all about the creation and utilisation of space. The first thing Leigh Griffiths did to create the goal last night was leave space in the box for him to exploit. If Leigh occupied the traditional centre forward position, there would have been no space for him to leave his marker and the goal would not have happened. This is a striking example of football intelligence.
Until that moment, Celtic were disarmingly impotent. Too often this season we have been dependent on opponents making a defensive mistake, and, if like St Mirren they don’t, we look laboured.
It was difficult to assess Filip Benkovic against St Mirren on Friday, he was never pressed and was skinned once, but you could see what all the fuss was about last night. The Croat looks the real deal: fast, good in the air and comfortable on the ball. He will take more responsibility in the weeks to come.
Celtic improved when Brendan Rodgers abandoned his initial plan on 57 mins, replacing Tom Rogic and Forrest with Scott Sinclair and Mikey Johnston. Almost immediately, Callum McGregor burst into newly available space (my word of the day) in the box. From then on Rosenborg were under pressure. The entire stadium knew the game was there to be won, we just needed our chief goal-scorer on the field.
When managers break transfer records for a player they are keen to play him, but leaving Odsonne alone inside the box isn’t working. We have options for Rugby Park on Sunday, but our treble goes on the line at the League Cup quarter-final at McDiarmid on Wednesday. We need to be ready for it.
I’m nine days from the Great Scottish Run half marathon, which I’m totally unprepared for. The ‘Why did I say I’d do this?’ thought has occurred, but you know why. If you and I cannot do our best for the Celtic FC Foundation, we are missing a whole lot of what it means to be Celtic.
The Foundation means we can connect right back to that hall in Calton in November 1887, when Bro Walfrid said, “Let’s form a football team to help feed the poor.” This is where we came from and, if you and I have any say in the matter, it remains a central part of where we are going.
If you can help sponsor me for the Foundation, please do so here.

Big Packy
Sunnyside / Blairhill to queen street is my Monday to Saturday jaunt to work

No offence to ma wee Bro.
CELTIC is ready to Rock n Roll.
CRC
May I add my congratulations to your daughters achievement and I hope she goes on to much better things, am just glad she has Mrs CRCs brains :-) I will be jointing LMS before next Friday keep up the good work M
Throughout a long (and much longer than I ever thought it would be) life, I just had two basic criteria by which I measured my readiness to venture forth and face a world that always was at odds with the tombola existence inside my head.
Every morning I went through those two tests…..
1. Put my socks on standing up….no leaning on anything allowed.
2. Do a Cossack dance?
Till just over a year ago I never really had a problem, but then sadly Irene Cara, Fame, Laminate Flooring, besocked feet and a leap in the air brought my world crashing around me.
I lay on the floor for a while and refused to believe that it was more than twisted I hobbled around for a week, the five minute saunter to the pub taking 40 minutes. Eventually I gave in and attended the Vicky where they showed me the mess that I had made of the break, torn ligaments and general trauma of the joint.
I got a stookie ….which to be fair after decoration I was quite proud of.
See pics at http://alturl.com/buu2y
It’s over a year now but the damage was sufficient to ensure that Cossack dancing and socks on standing up remain an ambition. But additionally the lack of activity has probably allowed other creeping ailments to enter through the open door of ‘getting on a bit’.
My unhappiness at proving humanly frail has known no bounds, and as always I have recorded my angst for posterity as follows.
Joints are achin’, hands are shakin’
Knees are creakin’, bladder leakin’
Walk’s a stumble, speech a mumble
Sod this getting auld!
Snotters runnin’, ankles done in
Scalp aye itchin’, sides wae stitch in
Bowels are seepin’, wind won’t keep in,
Stuff this getting auld
Always grumpy, heartbeat jumpy
last three teeth, gum-bleed beneath
Hair weave rug frae nose an’ lug
Screw this getting Auld
Jawline saggy, eyes aw baggy
Shoulders droopy, mind’s gone loopy,
Death mask grinnin’, Reaper winnin’
Ach Feck this getting Auld
Hail Hail

Europes Finest has been Closed. Laughable Don’t watch those games.
Horrific but it is what it is.
Celtic getting 8 Titles in a Row will be Remarkable.
The Refereeing has been abysmal in Every single one of those Seasons where Celtic is Concerned.
