What Nevin needs is Chris Sutton sitting on the other side of the pundit’s table from him. He’d have the wee runt leaving the studio whimpering.

  2. Alasdair MacLean on

    Delaneys,

I must’ve missed the beard bit – he looked clean shaven to me the 2x I’ve seen him..but someone was telling me that Jackson was the main man last Saturday.

  3. A braw Hoopy Hoopy Birthday to NEUSTADT-BRAW

and Moonbeams Hoopy Hoopy Bithday to you too :-))

  4. From tonight onwards, I reckon Paddy Roberts game will go up a level. I predict he will run riot from now until seasons end.

  5. DENA 29 & GLENDALYSTONSILS

Wouldn’t it be marvellous if Sutton was put on the same panel as him during a game?

I think it could finish nevin off.

    Be a joy to behold.

    Or as they say, FUD!

  6. Living in Manchester but stupid work meant I couldn’t go tonight, gutted.

As for the poster who went to the last game we played there, I got tickets in the City end with my dad and remembered saying to him “Just don’t jump if we score”, of course Chris Killen puts us 1 up (I think) and me and dad go YYEEEEEEAAAAaaaaahem but thankfully a few dozen others around us do the same… Guess we were just lucky with the opposing fans, maybe my manc accent helped also!

  7. I think all the Peter Lawell haters are soon to get their rewards..

After tonight and this campaign I think PL is unquestionably back in play ….certainly the EPL must be paying attention again if not Europe…

So my prediction is he is off at the end of this season (Bonus Confirmed)!!

So all the very knowledge oriented types on here …..who is his replacement?

Pretty much everybody on here hates him

    So face into it…

Who is likely to replace him?

Why are you trying to sow discord on the blog tonight?

Celtic fans are happy with the direction of our club after another good performance against a quality side.

    What team do you support?

  12. There are plenty of seriously seething Sticky Buns on Social Media tonight. Oh dear. Tough times for them.

  13. from the Guardian:

Manchester City could face fresh sanction from Uefa after crowd trouble erupted during their Champions League group game against Celtic on Tuesday night.

Fighting broke out among several supporters in the 73rd minute of the 1-1 draw at the Etihad Stadium before being contained by a heavy security presence. The trouble occurred in the lower tier of the home section closest to Celtic’s fans and is likely to prompt an investigation by European football’s governing body, who last season fined Manchester United £44,342 and Liverpool £43,577 for disturbances during their Europa League meeting at Old Trafford.

Patrick Roberts goal earns brave Celtic a draw at lacklustre Manchester City

There were reports that 13 people were arrested in total. Earlier, Greater Manchester police confirmed a Celtic fan had been arrested in Piccadilly Gardens for throwing a hamburger at a police horse.

Uefa’s control, ethics and disciplinary body may also take unkindly to City supporters once again booing the Champions League anthem before kick-off. The club was fined over the same incident last season, although no such draconian action has been taken when the anthem has been booed during this campaign.

Celtic took an early lead at the Etihad with a fine goal from Patrick Roberts, the 19-year-old who is on loan at the Scottish champions from City, before Kelechi Iheanacho levelled in a frenetic opening to the game. Pep Guardiola, the City manager, said he was aware of Roberts’ talent, despite the teenager making only three brief appearances for the club since arriving from Fulham in an £11m deal in 2015.

“We know his quality. He has good qualities as a winger, one on one, he works defensively,” said Guardiola. “He has good potential. We try to help our young players play every single week to see how they are going to develop. Then in the end you have to take a decision. If we are going to try to fight with the big clubs in Europe, to do that is not easy. Young players have to play regularly.”

Roberts will return to City when his loan deal expires at Celtic next summer. Their manager, Brendan Rodgers, believes the England under-20 international has the ability required to make the grade at the Etihad.

“It can’t have been easy for him playing against his parent club but he handled it well,” said Rodgers. “He showed he is in the right place at this moment in his career. It is no good him sitting on the bench and not playing. It is great that Manchester City allowed him to come to us. He is a top young English talent.

“He has the quality to fit in at City, no doubt about that. I am sure he will come back here in the summer and Pep and his staff will have a real look at him. They will be encouraged. He is a young English talent and I’m sure there will be a big career for him.”

  15. Cosy Corner Bhoy on

Happy HOOPY birthday to Neustadt Braw and MWD . Was that result tonight not the best present you got?

Thought we were excellent in almost all positions, correction all positions, and did ourselves proud.

As an ‘old’ supporter who sang all the long time ago IRA songs I was disappointed that we took the occasion to voice a few of the more recent songs as we were playing in Manchester which was a ‘victim’ of the strategy of the recent past , but I suppose the chance to not be ‘lifted’ under the OBAF act may have had some influence, although I seem to recall it still can even outside Scotland

Anyway a great night for all us Tims COYBIG!

  16. Thanks Gordybhoy. Praised wee Paddy all game. Wish there was a way to get another season out of him. Hope he kicks on now and can maintain this form for the rest of the season.

  17. Alasdair MacLean on

    Anyway, of to bed.

Congratulations to Celtic tonight for taking Scottish football to the world’s attention for all the best reasons.

    Nitpicking excepted.

  18. Everyone played well.

All you fannies who get ’embarrassed’ about Celtic’s european results can rest easy, and glory hunt another day.

Paddy Roberts – great for the wee man, still feel he’s got a Hun hat-trick in him, hopefully Mordor on Hogmanay; then drop him as he’s going back to Citeh anyway…

GMS – surprise, surprise, acquited himself very well; either in shop window or playing his way into BR’s thoughts.

Broon – immense in his disdain for the EPL showhorses.

Armstrong – class, clever, and fantastic hair.

    Rogic – our ZZ

Moussa – nice and quiet, shoddy with fiinsihing – good, keep the EPL hounds off his trail a couple of seasons more.

Jozo – committed; great attitude, throw himself on a grenade for the cause.

Erik – totally reliable, captain material.

Izzy – industrious, all heart, eager.

Prestwick Pele – Rejuvenated. Some run, son, hope the injury is minor.

The Cat – felt sorry for him at the goal; the shot had a savage bend right across and between his arms; on any other day the 50-50 chance of getting something on it would have fallen his way; we were defensively sleeping at it anyway.

Mick – Archie Gemmel with a Sebo slice; what a moment that could have been.

Man Citeh – all shiny shiny and little soul of a club left; Etihad like a shopping mall: oh so pretty, pretty va-cant.

Celtic support – as always, made the atmosphere.

BR – learning at 100mph; contrast the gullibility of the Camp Nou with the guile of the Etihad.

    Me – happy as f#ck.

    The Treble – ON.

TEN IN A ROW – ON.

Good to be a Tim? – Oh yes.

  19. Cosy Corner Bhoy on

CORRY: My memory isn’t as long as their’s, I can only go back as far as 1798 not to 1690!

  20. Loved my night tonight, staying in these parts ( englandshire ) got a soft seat with a good view to the supporters I wanted to be sitting with . Gutted my 2-1 the hoops didn’t come in ( 11-1 )

what a night , cant believe we have come this far to be dejected at ONLY getting a draw against this team.

  21. Tim arrested for throwing burger St police horse in Madchester !! Brings back memories a few years ago when Geordie got arrested after assaulting a Police horse.

A few days later one the rags did a follow-up story with the perpetrator , the lazy sub editor should have received a special No Shit Sherlick Award when he came up with the catchy headline

” I Was Stupid” Says Horse Punch Man .

Hopefully the Tim tonight gets off on a technicality, there was probably no meat in the burger he can say he was feeding it.

  22. Are the BBC going to write an article every time one football fan gets arrested ? It might become tiresome like…
