MANCINI – EXPECT THUNDER ON THURSDAY

INTER MILAN Manager Roberto Mancini believes his side face a ‘very difficult’ hurdle in their Europa League tie with Scottish Champions Celtic. The first leg is at Celtic Park on Thursday night and local newspapers in Scotland are reporting that Mancini has asked for help from The Rangers regarding use of training facilities at Murray Park.

No doubt Kris Commons will have something to say about that!

Mancini is certainly looking forward to his trip to Glasgow, with Inter scheduled to arrive as late as Thursday morning before, if the stories are correct, heading to use the facilities of the club currently sitting third in a lower division in Scottish football. Mancini had this to say:

“We hope to do well against Celtic, it’s become a fascinating competition, especially because this year victory will grant you access to the Champions League.”

He appreciates that asking his side to win the Europa League would be a big ask as he seems to be looking beyond Celtic when reflecting on this:

‘Obviously it is a very difficult objective (winning the Europa League), especially this year with all the good teams which have come in from the Champions League.

‘It can happen that two strong teams meet along the way, and then one of them will be eliminated.

‘It’s not always the best teams who make it to the end.

‘Having said that, when other teams face Inter they know they’re meeting a famous club.’

Well Mr Mancini, enjoy your visit to Murray Park because later that evening you too are going to be meeting a famous club and you will certainly here her supporters. You can expect thunder.
