Mancini’s disrespect for Celtic and Rodgers

318

Roberto Mancini must have watched plenty of Celtic while planning for the teams Europa League meeting, but there was little to concern the Italian.  So much so, he picked an attack-minded team for the Celtic Park leg, and arranged a four-day stay over in Italy before the team headed to St Petersburg.

For a side that looked to be in desperate need for time on the training field, spending more days at airports and in hotels does not look like wise planning.  When heading to the dressing room on Thursday night, the last thing anyone in the Zenit party must have wanted was more time on the road, after their trips to Dubai and Turkey.  This team needed to get home to find their game face.

It is clear that Zenit failed to show Celtic or Brendan Rodgers sufficient respect in thinking they could win the tie in Glasgow.  They are a powerful side, so the outcome remains open, but the question Mancini will most struggle with, is ‘Where did that Celtic performance come from?’  He has no idea what to expect from Celtic in St Petersburg, nor do his players.

There’s been a bit of chat online about the risk, or otherwise, to Celtic fans in St Petersburg this week.  Celtic’s Supporter Liaison Officer, John Paul Taylor, has been in touch with SLOs from Liverpool, Rosenburg and Benfica, each of whom faced Zenit recently.  Their advice is:

“All Clubs recommend that fans use the buses which will depart from pick up point close to the Petrovsky stadium (see map attached) they stated that this is the safest way to get to the Stadium.  Fans are asked to be at the pick up point at 18:30 and Police will lead the buses in a convoy at 19:00.

“Fans who travel with Celtic Travel should use their own buses and all other fans should use the municipal buses, there will be a few of us on hand to provide assistance if required.  At Full Time, fans who are on the Celtic Charter must return to their own bus as these will head straight to the airport.  I’ve asked that the municipal buses take fans back to the Petro Palace Hotel but it looks like they will only take fans back to the original pick up point, if this changes I’ll update it on my twitter @CelticFCSLO

“The other advice given was that fans should not wear colours if going into town at night, all three Clubs stressed this quite strongly and also advised fans to stay in larger groups, their advice was not to walk around town in small numbers.

“As far as we are aware, taxis are the best way to get around, the Metro is available however Liverpool fans encountered some issues when using the Metro again though this was when it was fans in small groups.”

    Calm doon!

You have read hundreds of books and spoken to loads of experts.

    Not querying that.

Can you be certain everyone concerned told the absolute truth?

    Naw, me neither.

  2. Over 400.0000 people worked on the Apollo mission to the moon I am sure if it was faked we would have heard

Plus I watched it live on the telly when I was 8 years old!!!

No I’m not, you can believe what you choose to believe, I have no control of that, your choice.

If you can enlighten me as to how they managed to make the moon landing in 1969 with the limited computer technologie they had back then, and how they can’t make a moon landing today with 100% certainty of success I will never not believe anything they tell me ever again., I promise, and I will stop posting my con theory belief stuff, deal……

  4. How many books in the bible?

All true or story’s to suit?

    Me?

Well, to be polite, I just don’t get it.

  5. Philbhoy… the reason i asked that question is because I know the geologist who has studied the moon rock. He is a friend of mine, he doesn’t work for NASA so he has no reason to lie. The problem with “it’s all fake” is that it is calling people liars, normal everyday people, not governments or politicians.

  6. UEFA verdict is a joke. How can they do any harm to the club whose sponsor is Gazprom? Zenit has to close that secton where offensive, racist banner was shown. Zenit has circa 130 sections. Average number of seats per section is 400.

With respect………….but how would you know a bit of rock was from a planet a quarter of a million miles from anything we had ever seen, touched, smelled, analysed?

    Curious.

Thanks, wont make much of a difference from what you are saying then, yes money talks do they also sponsor the EL ? Could be an interesting night.

Yes, they sponsor Champions League since 2012. Last Saturday Gazprom extended contract with UEFA until 2020/21.

    Conspiracy theory before Thursday? Ha!

When NASA landed on the moon the Russians had already sent manned satellites around the moon. They has photographed the far side. The Soviets were well ahead of the US. They were both spying on each other and were aware of each others capabilities. The US military had a plan to send 3 astronauts to the moon…. but they weren’t coming back. (they had thousand of volunteers) the Russians heard that the US were planning to land on the moon before them so they changed direction and started building bigger rockets to head to Mars.

NASA opposed the sacrifice and refused to let it happen (even though most of it’s budget was defence) It’s also why JFK said “we will get to the moon and safely back” Over 90% of NASA’s budget was put into Apollo and in today’s terms it’s budget is about 40% of what it was. They can’t afford to go back unless there is a justifiable reason to do so.

The technology for the Apollo craft was made by private firms they held the plans/moulds/ blue prints etc NASA didn’t produce the items. If they were to build a lunar rocket they would have to start from scratch (they build rockets but not designed to land and take off in space)

Computers, practically all the computing was done on Earth and relayed back to the ship for manual input by the astronauts.

I doubt I will change your mind but it is a pet subject of mine and i probably take it way too seriously when people say it was faked.

  13. Dessybhoy.

There was misunderstanding in my answer. They sponsor Champions League and UEFA Super Cup, not EL.

  14. Season Ticket renewal email is out early this year as is the closing date.

Re The Apollo Moon Landings reunion dinner.

I tried to organise that for the 40th Anniversary. I was there (which took a bit of doing) but Neil, Buzz and the rest of the boys failed to show which was pretty poor.

Anyway, the noon is not all it is cracked up to be. No atmosphere!

    I prefer Tennents Bar!!

With my limited geology background I’ll try and make a sensible answer.

We can measure the age of rocks using the half life of radioactive materials and the age of the moon rocks are considerably older than any found on Earth (as you probably know Earth is constantly re-cycling it’s rocks through erosion, volcanoes earthquakes etc) The chemical compounds found in lunar rocks are similar to Earth but with different quantities but similar to what we find in the oldest earth rocks. The structure is the big difference as it does not resemble Earth type rocks due to the nature of the formation of the moon.

No way would I ever scroll by.

I have a couple of friends who are, or were pioneers in the computer industry, and with total respect to you and what you believe, I choose to believe them when they tell me that it would have been impossible with the computers they had back then to do the moon landings, align that with so many other things that which I believe were faked, it’s our choice to believe what we do.

  25. The moon landings were powered by the Saturn V which is still the biggest and most powerful rocket ever built with a payload and thrust that gives Elon Musk wet dreams. Designed somewhat by some WW2 nazi rocket scientists who ended up in the US after the war.

  27. I am under no illusion that they can’t send a maned rocket to the moon, I know fine well they can, it’s the bringing it back in one piece that they have problems with, the head of NASA admitted this in the early 2000’s
