‘Starve your club of money until I get what I want’ is just about the measure of Glib and Shameless’ statement yesterday. No one at the SFA, SPFL, the Glasgow City Council, the Co-op/Vatican Bank or Celtic could do as much damage to the Fledgling Rangers as Dave King’s pronouncement.
These people have taken so many wrong turns in this episode it is like they are being operated by a compulsive Karmic puppeteer. There is a time for withholding ticket sales, Celtic fans did it 20 years ago next month, but Celtic fans had a plan, grassroots support, investors on hand, unencumbered by Fit and Proper concerns, or the law against directors of a liquidated business working in a company using the same or similar name.
Most importantly the Celtic ‘old board’ included some, like Kevin Kelly, who was committed to change, while even the hold-outs were died-in-the-wool Celtic men, if clearly misguided. None of the decision makers would ever consider razing the stadium.
Fledgling Rangers are at the mercy of hedge funds, some spivs and a couple of ‘Rangers’ men, who must be increasingly frustrated at the attempts of others to usurp what they legitimately bought and paid for.
Before stepping off the ledge – and make no mistake, stopping fans from buying season tickets is the only way to kill not just a club, but any successor clubs – you need to be sure you are in a position to cut a deal, and that you have the cash to make it all possible. If you don’t have a watertight plan, you are working towards the end of your football club and its dilapidated remains.
I would be utterly amazed if the Easdales or Laxey Partners submit to this Glib and Shameless series of demands. If they do, I have seriously misread them.
King was on the oldco board when they walked slowly to the gallows, all for the want of the kind of money he now says is needed to make Newco competitive with Celtic. His chance to bang the populist drum and raise some cash was in the years before the club, stadium, stock and bike were sold for a combined total of £1.
It makes you wonder if there is a plan to march the entire club, and all its symbolism, into the sea, before picking up the driftwood after another liquidation. For a fan of the club that would be horrendous, but think of the rich pickings available to whoever can grab the assets.
This is high stakes poker, but those forcing the issue don’t have any skin in the game. Even if the whole thing is washed away in the storms, they will avoid most of the blame.
Delighted to read Fergus McCann on the club site this morning:
“I am very proud when I see Celtic’s progress, its status in Scotland, and its worldwide reputation. Especially when I see the great work of Celtic FC Foundation carrying on the legacy of Brother Walfrid.”
Despite the perspective that the events of 2012 gave us I still meet people who just don’t get what he did for Celtic. No football fan is under any obligation to worry about their club’s finances but the man at the top is, and when our top man wore a bunnet, our transformation was outstanding.
There is a little over two weeks to go before the CQteN St Patrick’s Night Dinner on Friday, 14 March, at the Kerrydale Suite, Celtic Park. The beneficiary of the night will be Kholoni Primary School, Malawi, where we will fund Mary’s Meals to build a kitchen for 1200 kids who currently don’t have meal facilities.
We have received some incredible assistance already (more on what happened in Germany and Belgium when I get the next stage of the development ready), but you can get involved by ordering a personalised beanie hat, with your name on one side and CQN on the other.
Hats cost £15 each and if you order before 7 March you can collect yours at the CQteN Dinner. If you’re not attending the dinner (and why not?) the £15 will cover postage and packaging. If you ordered a Virtual Ticket, you’re personalised hat is part of your package. All profits go to the school kitchen.
Take a look at the front and back of the hats. To order, email hatfrompat@celticquicknews.co.uk with name, whether you are attending CQteN and address if not, and I’ll get your message to Pat.

Auldheid,
Thanks for that.
The perceived silence is one of the great worries. In general, not only from me.
And it is not without merit, we need to defend ourselves more robustly.
But I am reassured by your response.
And do trust the integrity of those involved.
All of them.

Although I was always confident our Board were working in the background, I , too, am further reassured……and I owe Canamalar a sincere apology…….I perceived his aggressive ‘promotion’ of the need for Res 12 to be anti-board retoric …….but……when he conformed with the Board’s request to ‘work with them’, I realised I was wrong in my assessment of his motivation etc….HH to Canamalar……

I would suggest the strategy is to get the current bored to capitulate under the threat and walk away, leaving the door to the big (delapidated) hoose open for ming to enter…..
But, it doesn’t work like that ……………..
The current bored will simply go into Liquidation earlier than they had planned to…….and, since there are no creditors, the assets will be sold and the money from the sale will be shared out among the shareholders…..with Laxative als getting first call on Edminston House and the Albion Car Park sale monies………the spivs cannot lose out here ……. like SDM, they know exactly what they are doing….
THIS IS NOW A GAME OF “I’VE GOT BIGGER CAJUNS THAN YOU…..AND MING DOESN’T STAND A CHANCE AGAINST THE BIG BOYS (SPIVS) …… And the hoardes don’t stand a chance at all…..they would have been better taking a chance with wallis, and picking their time to rhebel…….
!!Bada Bing!!
The only public statement club need to make re: Fraser. He is not for sale. We don’t need to sell. But drop a small hint. If you offer us really crazy money eg Massive, you might get a top class keeper.

It really is that funny!
Apparently Tinfoil Heid Graham was interviewed on STV last night in front of AyeBrokes. I didn’t see it but please, someone tell me he’s getting behind the G&SL. Because ole Tinfoil Heid is like a barometer when it comes to predicting a sure-thing! He hasn’t been wrong yet…!

Wee song for Fergus
Fergus pays the bills
In notes of fifty or less.
Unlike the Rangers
They’re in the wilderness.
All bills are possible
They get less and less.
This Is our country.
These are our reasons.
`Cause I can look In the mirror
And it throws back the question
And I whisper in words that beg
an answer.
Tell me, can the Celtic pay their bills?
Just into say…..
Re: The comments(and there were many) and, stuff about
Paul McStay – Tommy Burns(RIP) – Fergus McCann.
First, lets make one thing clear – I’ve never in my life been an
ass-licker / Kow-tower / Happy-Clapper.
Now, Paul (The Maestro) McStay will forever be a ‘giant’ in my own
little Celtic world. As would Tommy Burns(RIP) the ‘player’ not the manager.
Fergus McCann, in the fullness of time will, once everything is weighed up, will
be like one of those figurine / dilemmas that used to appear on the shoulders of
‘Oor Wullie’ ye know – the wee holy angel guy on one side and the, not so holy
guy on the other shoulder.
Paul McStay was a wonderful player for us – especially when, Murdo played next
to him to carry out all the unfashionable roles. Ye see…when I go down memory lane
in a Celtic context…Paul McStay will always be an occupant of the ‘highest’ level.
Tommy Burns(RIP) was and, will always be on the same level as, Paul. Absolutely!
I think that timing can be crucial in football and, as far as I’m concerned TB(RIP) would
have gone on to be right guid manager. But, I always think that he got the Celtic job way
too early. Tommy knew this and said as much himself.
Then the suspicious ‘timmy’ mind kicked-in when, Tommy was appointed by Fergus as
manager of the club. I mean, an apparently…entreprenurial genius bringing in an – still wet
behind the ears trainee manager to oversee the – operation stop the hun-juggernaut from
equalling the great Mr Steins ‘world record’ 9 in a row – was quite a gamble or, a bad call.
imho
I think that Fergus knew that, Lou Macari was a manager who had been round the block before, so to speak. Indeed, the initial effect of LM was a 2-1 victory v’s the ‘myth’ at the orcdome and, this result engendered a lot of energy into the Celtic camp, yeah, so much energy that – immediately after the match, all that was heard from the media was – the amount of broken seats in the Broomloan stand ? Thats a new one, eh ?
Now, the ‘myth’ didny like it up him – so to speak. And, Macari wasn’t going to be kow-towing to the ‘myth’ and, as a result…was seen as a problem to be gotten rid of. imo
SDM – panicked at the boost Macari was having and – over-reacted – to the ‘seats’ issue and, banned the Celtic fans from their next visit to ibrokes. Strangely enough…just before the next game in April 1994 at ibrokes…there was tv programme on every monday night called – ‘Sport in Question’ – hosted by Archie McPherson and, on this particular night, LM and Donald Findlay were the guests.
The main discussion was about the Celtic fans being banned from ibrokes and, LM made it clear that he thought the ban was wrong and, hinted that Celtic might retaliate when Rangers go to CP the following season.
Well, neither AM or, DF could get the better of LM who was well clued-up as to how the land lay what with all the plants in the audience – ye know what ah mean.
LM made it perfectly clear that, under no circumstances woud he be bowing to the establishment. He then took his team without fans, to the orcdome version of the ‘alamo’ and was denied a victory that would have been up there with some of our clubs most memorable moments, by a hun deflection in the last couple of minutes after going in front form one of the best Celtic goals ever scored at the orcdome – by the gifted John Collins who was the captain that day. The score…..1-1.
That – JC as captain – was probably the way to go and, furthermore…the maestro could have been deployed as a front-sweeper ala Paul Lamberts old team mate at B Dortmund, Andreas Moller who was moved back to sweeper and, if that happened with the maestro we might have squeezed another couple years out him ?
We’ll never know.
Anyway to conclude…
Paul McStay and Peter Grant were nominated by TB(RIP) to be kept on as coaches at CP, once they had stopped playing and apparently McCann said to TB(RIP) – “Why ? what will they coach them…how to get beaten by Rangers ?” This is true but, I canny prove it – sorry.
Paul McStay should have been stripped of the captaincy of Celtic when he ‘coward’ from taking a penalty v’s Raith Rovers in the LCF at ibrokes to the extent that he missed his kick and as a result – lost the cup. imho
Fergus McCann will be heralded by a healthy swathe of Celtic fans forever more, although, I do believe there has been a lot of – re-writing of history about Fergus.
I think Fergus was a wee tyrannical bully who brought in TB(RIP) so that he could, bully him the way that he knew he wouldn’t have gotten away with LM. imho
As a result of this….TB(RIP)’s managerial career was ruined and he was destroyed as a man. The crucial acid test for TB(RIP) came after he’d won the SCF v’s Airdrie, and his stock was never going to be higher when he was at loggerheads with FM and he meekly accepted the conditions / restrictions of the FM regime and, for me….that, was the beginning of the end for Tommy. Sadly.
Away for a lie doon – CSC
Pharrell ‘Happy’ Williams – Off oot….laters.

2 points (and my quaint little Glaswegian ‘saying’ should not have been taken literally)
1) If I behave myself in Celtic Park, and at away grounds, I will always be welcome in Celtic Park…..If the GB behave themselves, they will ALWAYS be welcome also……for the record, I luv them……remind me of my youth, in the Jungle….
2) celtic cannot do anything to change the (stupid) Law ‘they’ have contrived to introduce ….all we can do is search for another league in another Country….

I don’t know about tyrannical, but at one point during his reign lots of match tickets were disappearing from the post – either dumped or stolen, because you could see that they were Celtic tickets inside the envelope.
He cared enough about the issue that he personally checked that new envelope inserts made it impossible to see what was inside. It was me that showed them to him one night when I was doing a late shift in the TO getting the ST packages ready for the new stand opening – maybe at about 8pm. I was told he regularly put in 12 hour days.
The raven,

Life is too short. Yes ! Go for it
My friends in Celtic,
Funny how time softens attitudes and distorts reality.
Lou Macari,s managerial time at Celtic was bluntly a failure. My lasting memory was the amount of people in his “Bus stop”
I can’t see how we can disguise that. To be fair he had managed teams like West Ham, Stoke and Birmingham prior to us so it was not as if he had not managed at a decent level and was inexperienced. It just did not work out.
Regardless I still have time for Lou and am aware that he has had many trials and tribulations throughout his personal life.
HH.
Raven,
I’ll no have a bad word said about the man.
Jinky and Henrik are legends but PM will always be my no. 1.
