Martin needed time

216

You and I spoke a week ago about the next managerial appointment.  Martin O’ Neill explained to us at the end of the season that he needed time to consider if he wanted the job next season. We discussed that Celtic were conducting interviews with other candidates (plural) in case he declined.

But! If course he wanted the job. Those who blindly bought into other narratives over the last week need to take a look at yourselves. Honestly!  Some poor lads were traumatised by you.

Seem to take great pleasure in scolding fellow Celts Paul; it’s very un-Celtic like!

Meanwhile, it could be speculated that other prospects were being rounded out lest Martin’s demands were Rogersian.

I hope they were; we will need a serious restock after the squad depletions – and not with Adamus Mvukas amd Shins.

    Name names Paul.

Happy to accept other candid-8s were interviewed.

Clearly, who they were would be of interest.

As, by the way, would be who interviewed them.

The close season cup is hotting up again! Huns drew first blood with Shankland, Celtic counter blows by signing MON.

Then a brilliant jackanory with this one……

“Galatasaray are reportedly tracking Youssef Chermiti this summer – but Rangers are said to be demanding £25m for the frontman’s services.”

Turkey must be fixated with hun players through the years 😂🤣😅

IMHO questions about Martin’s stamina across a full 12 months are reasonable.

But he’ll handle the “pressure” no bother.

First gig was simple – go in, early in the season and stabilise.

Second tenure was a real toughie.

Team looked broken, transfer window was already open (whoever found Araujo did well), and we were approaching the business end of the season.

He had no time, few options, almost no wriggle room.

And still he brought home a double.

    Time, options, wriggle room, control

… he’ll have much more of each this time around.

Good fuel for the slog ahead.

  6. The Head of Football Operations would have conducted the interviews.

    Oh, wait!

Surprised that there are no ‘Chinese Superclubs’ in for Chermiti.

  8. Welcome back Martin.

I enjoyed that Kevin Bridges programme, but 1 wee thing annoyed me: I thought he was from Duntocher, not Clydebank. I was really impressed by the way John McGinn conducted himself in the school. I wonder if he would make a good manager some day.

*well the “holy city” is in Clydebank, I do know his mum is from Duntocher as I met her around 50 year ago when she was on holiday our here and she comes fae a generation of Duntocherites.

He did a skit in November about wanting to buy his mum something online and she said she preferred going to the shops, possibly Clydebank Mall, as she would get the bus, too far tae walk, where she could meet friends on it, same in the mall and go for a wee cup of tea, typical old school, like me and Mrs TT lol
