Martin needed time

216

You and I spoke a week ago about the next managerial appointment.  Martin O’ Neill explained to us at the end of the season that he needed time to consider if he wanted the job next season. We discussed that Celtic were conducting interviews with other candidates (plural) in case he declined.

But! If course he wanted the job. Those who blindly bought into other narratives over the last week need to take a look at yourselves. Honestly!  Some poor lads were traumatised by you.

AT, U2 played Barrowlands the night of the infamous second leg v Rapid. I was at the gig and we thought all was great with Celtic win until we got to The Vogue and found out about what had gone on.

I was at a U2 concert, what an atmosphere that was, we were steaming and ended up down the front right close to the Edge.

BBC Sports Shortie that’s a whole other story. Before the match they took the time to show how the tragedy of Bullie’s injury came to pass against some Dutch Colonial Islanders. Nobody near Gilmour makes a side footed pass forward, and then goes down in a heap. Now, I could be wrong, but I’m guessing that he had a problem with his knee and was trying to wing it across the Atlantic, even as a passenger. Caught out…..

You wont hear that from Beeb Scotty…

I was just thinking how it’s great to be a Celtic supporter, then three games I attended came to mind.

Milan – Feyenoord, Manchester- Rapid ,Hampden – Patick Thistle .

Would I change it ,never it was and is always a pleasure to watch the Green and white hoops HH

The lack of a museum is a big gap in our cultural offering.

Great work done by these groups.

IMHO the club should be taking more ownership.

    Genuine question …

… how big would a Celtic museum physically need to be?

    Incredibly rich story.

I reckon we could comfortably dedicate a single space to each decade of our existence

  13. Christian Eriksen collapsed during Denmark’s friendly against Ukraine but is now conscious, says the Danish Football Association (DBU). The game was suspended after 75 minutes. Think it may be his last game.

  14. Gene,

Since Test matches are no longer on Council Telly, I just watch the highlights on BBC 2 in the evening.

  17. Thought Martin O’Neill might get a gig as pundit @ the World Cup but don’t see any sign of him in the opening week. Usual suspects listed for both ITV and the BBC. Like Wayne Rooney. Surprised Scott Brown is getting a look-in when Celtic aren’t playing, though he did play for Scotland on more than one occcasion. Kris Boyd will be working for Radio 5, don’t mind him as a pundit, think he is a pretty good analyst, and far more informative than Pat (BabbleOn) Nevin, who when commentating you’ve no idea where the ball is. Rachel Corsie and Eilidh Barbour there too, do not see any sign of Michael Stewart, hope he is not getting replaced by er Kenny Miller….

Try giving the board credit when due. Inamura’s Windfall, as Auld Head pointed out, it money that can be used to buy new players under the rules.

Some players don’t work out, farming them on loan to recover or even grow the original purchase price is a lot of work in the back room that contributes to the teams success. Still scratching my head how we got £25m for Kuhn who had half a good season then faded.

A tiny, tiny minority will never give the Celtic Board credit for anything.

    As for Inamura?

Looked neat and tidy. Good touch.

Personally, I thought he lacked a bit of aggression.

Brendan took a good look at him and said either “no” or “not just now”

    (We’ll never know which)

IMHO Inamura was still worth a punt.

Decent standard of player … who might have made it at Celtic …

… but in this case didn’t

In today’s market I don’t think he is over priced at €1.2m

Lots of football clubs have museums, i would love celtic to have one as well. However, any celtic museum must include the social story around the club. The histroy of the reason the irish arrived in scotland, the irish in glasgow, the challenges faced and the way celtic acted as a central point for those people to stand, be proud and be safe alongside friendly faces from irlenad and scotland. Also how that rich social history has shaped the clubs supporters views then and now alongside a histroy of the onfield successes.

‘The men who fought and died here restored freedom to Europe. That freedom must be maintained by this generation of leaders and war fighters or what they fought for was merely temporary’
