MARTIN O’NEILL will lead Celtic into their crucial Champions League play-off second leg against LASK in Austria tonight – 26 years and 15 days after he made his debut in Europe as the club’s manager.
It was on August 10 2000 that the Irishman, who had taken over as Hoops boss just two months beforehand, took his place on the touchline for the opening UEFA Cup-tie against Jeunesse Esch in Luxembourg.
O’Neill watched the side win 4-0 before easing into the next round following a 7-0 second leg win at Parkhead a fortnight later.
