It seems incredible that it has been over 20 years since Martin O’Neill left his job as Celtic manager following his wife’s illness. In his five years here, he transformed the club and gave a new generation some of their greatest nights as Celtic fans. He changed history.
Before Martin, Celtic were second favourites, or worse, for over a decade. Since shortly after his arrival in 2000, we have been perpetual favourites, winning more than any other club in world football. His eloquence and enthusiasm inspired much of what you know and love about the club today.
Regrettably, I will not make the game tonight to see the man in person. Does he still jump at a goal? Football has changed a lot since the time his legend was respected across the Continent, but as the many who have heard him speak over recent years will confirm, his love of the club remains. He will be a sight to behold trackside in a Celtic jacket.
Falkirk started the month getting the point that was enough to see Russell Martin ejected out of Ibrox. This was followed by coming from behind to win at Motherwell, one of only two defeats the Lanarkshire side have experienced this season, before again coming from behind on Saturday to beat Dundee. They are a team who battle ‘til the end.
Celtic caught them cold on League Cup duty in August, winning 4-1. That game was easier than expected, indeed, it was easier than the same game a year earlier, when Falkirk were newly promoted to the Championship. I expect a tougher game tonight.

“>That was weeks ago so has something changed since? We do not know. <"
The manner in who all left at the same time leads me to think that perhaps an interview took place for another position, totally made up btw, :)) por cierto
Looking forward to the game tonight like when you turned up and said your to your mate under the floodlights “ Look at how green that grass is “
For too many Celtic supporters these days it seems always to be greener on the other side.
PC- Thanks, just forwarding on a message

Ticketless ? As per
We win tonight, Hibs beat the huns at Easter Road and St Mirren burst Hearts bubble in Paisley.
Feel good factor goes up several degrees and we go to Hampden with a spring in our step.

I always thought the floodlights made the grass look greener but also made my hoops heroes look larger than life .
DeniaBhoy re: JK
Who knows indeed. Sad to see a loyal servant go.

JAMES FORREST re: BR hate.
I don’t hate nothing but hatred but you are not comparing MON to BR are you? Different times and challenges.
Really excited ahead of tonight’s game.
Not sure I’ve been so desperate for a Celtic win in a while. Hard to explain.
Suspect it may be something of an old school one, plenty energy and movement.
A new chapter

Can sort of understand John Kennedy leaving but don’t quite understand why the other back room team would leave a secure and well paid job ?….if sacked , why ?
….
Any direct reports to Brendan will be purged , Dermot going full metal jacket. Maybe the right thing to do but for the wrong reason …

I get a tingle thinking of the day that MON was revealed on the steps.
25 years ago, wow. I remember dialling up the internet for rumours and news in the days before his announcement.
Good times.

Ref JK and double standards.
Sadly some sad folks just want any excuse to blame folks in authority for stuff. My dad said it is due to them having difficulties in their own lives that they were powerless to sort. My wife has a more pointed expression about inadequacies.
Either way it is pretty sad.
Someone even said earlier Paul would not even credit JK. I would bet more on him doing that at some point than Celtic winning tonight. We will see.

Extra man in midfield Reo , Dane and Colby to carry the can for Sundays debacle. It would be good if we could have a Bobby Petra transformation in one of our forwards , Yang , then I woke up ….

Ekbhoy – quite like the look of that👍
I think Nygren would have to start ahead of Forrest, though.
Save him for the last 20/30 minutes.
Looking at the goals conceded against Hearts I was reminded of the Ange slogan “we never stop”. Too many of the players were off the pace and stopped at crucial moments in the box. Perpetual motion it has to be tonight, in attack and in defence. Don’t wait for the ball to fall near you…go to it!
Auldheid @ 1:59pm – respect.
IMHO… you never, ever project as bitter.
Class.

Thought experiment…
How would the leadership have reacted if they got word over the weekend that BR and his team were talking to an EPL club, along similar lines to his discussions with Leicester a few years ago?
How might matters have played out on Monday?

Very differently
Brendan’s next gig will probably be in Saudi or China. One last chance to hoover up some big bucks before hanging up his suit and writing his memoirs.
I did see something this morning that I hope doesn’t happen – McCoist claimed BR told him he will be at Hampden for the semi.

Pumped then …good point if true…
unlike Rodgers teams – o’neil doesnt mind a shot from 20 yards. Mix up our attacking options rather than everything being worked to wings. Get balls into their box – their defenders play for falkirk for a reason! pressure them and mistakes will occur.

I had Benji on the naughty step for not converting but hey probably a good shout to give JF the last 20

I suspect that those who hate the board would say that BR was forced into doing it due to the board’s actions.
Those that hate BR will come on and say I told you so
..and the 90% of posters who just want to see a successful Celtic team will be more concerned about who the next manager will be and be praying for a good result tonight.
Some on here would believe John Kennedy was simply ‘caught up in it,’ a man without the ability to make his own stand or calculate his own career moves.

Heres hoping
Alternatively hearts and the huns win, we get beat, Martin says were in the slow lane, the board take umbrage and Dermot sacks him
And in
Fekin spare me this hero worshipping of MON.He is a stand in.Helping out. Some giving it”Oh,I wonder what formation Martin will use” and other such crap.Yes he was great for us,in a different era..Maloney will have more input.MON,is there as a shield for the Board.Another” Oh look,a Squirrel” moment for the easy distracted.Reading some of the posts, plenty of them on here.Led by Paul 67.
Would bin Nygren and only use him as an impact sub when we are winning. Defensively, scared of his own shadow and in attack, needs umpteen chances to convert. One of BRs favs and symptomatic of his tactics and decline of team.
Wolves?
Hmmmmm

Anyone know if Maeda is back training?
Expect to see Trusty starting tonight and Sunday alongside Ralston.
All my life, I have detested bullies, no matter what form they take. Make no mistake,Sharkboy Desmond is that , pure and simple, always getting his own way, and watch out those who may disagree.
Our board of invertibrates know DD has no control really, but shit scared to tell tell him to GTF.
I want us, the real supporters of our club, to restrict ALL income streams to the club , by any means possible. No merchandise, no bovril or pies, cancel TV subs, and watch what happens. The share price will drop like a stone down a well, along with it, DD’s investment. When the bottom is reached, get our “star ” fans Jim Kerr, Rod, Kevin Brodges etc to make him an offer he can’t refuse. Never forget, DD ‘s greed of wealth.
He has bullied or been allowed to bully us for far too long now and it has to stop, now

No Wrigleys spearmint chewing gum as well
Fulham and Crystal Palace jobs will probably be available in the summer,he will wait till then,i think he will end up in La Liga
We simply must play Tounekti on the right, Bally on the left
Maybe a 4-2-4 formation
who cares where Rodgers goes and what he does? he signed a 3 year contract an promised to honor it (“200%”) – as soon as he realized the team wasn’t working out this season, he had a decision to make!!! Roll sleeves up, try different tactics/players, find solutions OR bail out and dont risk his reputation.
Well we know Rodgers EGO made that decision for him just like his Ego conducts every post match interview over the last 6mths or so.
I want a coach – a coach who puts the players above all else and focuses on football with the tools provided!
Martin O’Neil is a master at this and will make the players feel 10 feet tall ! I hope the next coach is of that ilk!
I wonder what Brendan and his team thought when Shaun Maloney was given a job just after that now infamous meeting at Brendans house
just a thought experiment
