SMILES BETTER…Kelechi Iheanacho and Brendan Rodgers meet up again.

“Obviously, he looked after me when I was at Leicester. He gave me the opportunity there to show my talent and to help the team. He is a great manager and a great person.

“I’m happy to play for him again. I’m happy to be a Celtic player and to play for this great club.”

Iheanacho is also looking forward to teaming up again with keeper Kasper Schmeichel, his former colleague at the Kings Power outfit.

The hitman, speaking to Celtic TV, continued: “I know a couple of the guys, like Kasper who is a good friend.

“I played alongside him for a few years and I’m obviously familiar with some of the staff,  as well.

“It’s the same here as it was at Leicester, I found myself next to him in the changing room. It’s a bit of déjà vu. Kasper is a great and friendly guy.

“He is a great leader and when he’s back [from international duty with Denmark], I will get to see him.”

Iheanacho made his Lennoxtown debut on Monday as the champions prepared for the weekend test in Ayrshire and added: “I have seen how many trophies the club has won.

“It is a club that is used to winning trophies, and comfortable doing that.

“I want to join and win trophies here, so I am happy to be part of it and, of course, to play my part to try and do that.

“I remember playing against Celtic in the Champions League. I scored for Manchester City and Patrick Roberts was playing for Celtic then. He scored that night, too.

“And Celtic Park was so loud the night we played there. I can’t wait for that.”
