Our two compensations are that Matt O’Riley is behaving impeccably despite mounting speculation about his future and Celtic have him under contract for another three years. The Sun’s assertion that Brighton have joined Southampton and Atalanta in the race to sign Matt raises the potential ticket price, should the player move.
Brighton have already paid €30m to Feyenoord for a midfielder this summer and gone higher still for a Newcastle winger. If Celtic sell, they have two requirements: push the fee higher than what we got for Jota a year ago and ensure we have backfill before agreeing to the sale.
We still have 25 days of the window left, so I wouldn’t expect movement on Matt or a replacement soon. This has nothing to do with any other business Celtic are looking at this month, although, the same transfer window rules apply. Players under contract and in demand will seldom shift until late in the window, when the seller has extracted all possible interest.

Jobo’s results on player votes for Sunday:-
JOBO POTY Competition update.
*SENTINEL CELTS PLAYER OF THE YEAR 2024-25*
*RESULTS FROM GAME #1 CELTIC 4 KILMARNOCK 0 (HATATE, SCALES, KUHN, RALSTON)*
Good evening, friends and it’s really great to be back!
Just like last season, we open our league campaign by scoring 4 goals although this time it was with no reply.
A pre-match carnival atmosphere and full ground TIFO set us up for what proved to be a scintillating opening day performance. Plenty of chances and move after move of fast flowing football brought nothing but approval from the 60,000 in attendance. A rare shot from outside the box saw Reo give us the lead. And that rarest of rare things – a goal from a corner – saw Liam Scales put us 2 up with a really well directed header into the net. A 2 nil half time lead was the very least we deserved.
The second half saw the same regular procession towards the Kilmarnock goal, where the impressive Kuhn was eventually rewarded with the aid of a deflection to make sure of the 3 points. Our onslaught continued and how Kyogo ended the game without a goal to his name is anyone’s guess – that first half flick and chip, the 2nd half very tight offside decision, and the non-penalty wipeout being the 3 most obvious opportunities. Indeed, it was a Kyogo strike, parried by the keeper, that led to our 4th goal slotted home calmly by Tony Ralston to complete the scoring.
So, that’s 1 game played, 1 game won, 4 goals scored and none conceded. With our (arguably) closest rivals Hearts and Sevco both dropping 2 points it made for a very acceptable opening weekend!
And so to the voting and what a fantastic response for our first competitive game of the season – a huge thank you to the 85 (EIGHTY FIVE) who took the time to vote (last season’s first game turnout was a mere 79).
The total votes cast for each player are as follows, with my own nominations asterisked.
Schmeichel: 0
Johnston: 1
Carter-Vickers*: 9
Scales: 28
Taylor: 5
McGregor: 12
Hatate: 68
O’Riley: 46
Kuhn*: 42
Kyogo: 11
Forrest*: 33
Palma: 0
Ralston: 0
Yang: 0
Holm: 0
And so, the players receiving POINTS for the game against Kilmarnock are –
Hatate – 5 points
O’Riley – 4 points
Kuhn – 3 point
Forrest – 2 points
Scales – 1 point
And, not surprisingly, the overall positions after game number 1 are –
5 points – Hatate
4 points – O’Riley
3 points – Kuhn
2 points – Forrest
1 point – Scales
0 points – Carter-Vickers, Holm, Kyogo, Johnston, McGregor, Palma, Ralston, Schmeichel, Taylor, Yang
We now have 5 more sleeps to wait until our next game, a visit to Hibs next Sunday with a 12.30pm kick off. Remember, spread the word, anyone can vote after any game and join in at any time – just keep a note of the email address – sencelpoty@gmail.com

What’s the name of the pub to watch Celtic games in Liverpool?
—————
Hi Tom, it’s called Fitzgerald’s and is one of the best Celtic bars I’ve been to.
It’s on Slater Street on the corner with Seel Street.
Who’s it for and when? Might see you/them in there? 😃👍⚽️🍀🇮🇪🏆🍻
Has JOBO been banned from posting his results ?

I don’t buy food at petrol station, nor in the airport or on trains or in the cinema, because it really is just over expensive and poor planning my part.
*absolutely as I have no idea why anyone has tae eat before during or after a game, now if you were coming straight fae work, like I often did for midweek games, a pie and a pint in a nearby pub would suffice, as for travelling, pack a lunch or piece as we used tae call them, likewise airports and trains, ffs you used tae need a bank loan if eating on them, however, over here the government got out of the transportation business and handed them over to local authorities, which they monitor and have a separate board of directors, NOT employed by the authority, consisting of local politicians and business men/women to oversee the whole operation, and as far as the largest airport in the country is concerned all retailers, including food and beverage, can only charge street prices and retail detectives, employed by the federal government monitor them on a regular basis.

Sorry to hear about the funeral Tom.
Hope all goes well.
I’m up in Edinburgh this weekend and might try to get to the game at Easter Road. Will see what the other half has us doing while we’re up. 😳🤷🏼♂️😂
I’ll be back for the Hibs League Cup game the weekend you’re here and would love to catch up. Fitzgerald’s sounds like the perfect place to do that.
Is it still fine to use your gmail address you gave me previously to exchange numbers and sort something out?
Also, if you want any recommendations for places to eat and/or drink while you’re here, just let me know and can recommend a few nice places?
😃👍⚽️🏆🇮🇪🍻🍀

Which is baffling, because when he first came in the plan was to press, pass, and move. He talked about players havign the confidence to take the ball in difficult positions. And there was evidence of it.

Anyone else think the Huns will wave some Russian flags tonight to offend the Kiev players and fans?
They seem to come up with the most inappropriate ways to cause offence and the flag is in their colours as well.
🤔
They will get pumped btw. Reckon 3 or 4-0.
McCarthy released/ paid off?
wooft and now the extra-ordinary profits warning.

Celtic plc
(“Celtic” or the “Club”)
Trading update for the year ended 30 June 2024
Celtic has enjoyed a strong on pitch performance in the 2023/24 football season having won the domestic double. In addition, it has enjoyed a successful year in generating gains from player trading. As a result of such gains and a strong end to the season from a footballing perspective, Celtic now expects earnings for the year ended 30 June 2024 will be significantly higher than previous expectations, which were formed before the conclusion of the season and prior to certain player disposals.
Player registration valuations and player trading can and often do materially influence Celtic’s financial performance in addition to trading revenue. The Summer transfer window is underway and following the closure of the window and the finalisation of the year end balance sheet review, the Club will then be in a position to confirm the extent of its earnings by publishing its results for the year ended 30 June 2024, in line with its usual timetable in mid-September 2024.

Jobo’s not barred at all.
He just posts these on another site and asks CQNrs to take them to this site if they wish. I don’t think he was getting a lot of feedback or interest from here but I appreciate the effort and I’m happy to publicise it when I remember.
Good to see you on Sunday
I know some school kids got their exam results by email
Some had the results
Some blank
And some ‘ penalty to raaannggers’
I’m sure that earnings pre-announcement has nothing to with the recent share price strength 🤔

Could you send a test email just now? Last time you said you had emailed me I didn’t get it.
Stuck a wee fiver on R2ngers to get stuffed 1-3 tonight at 12/1 🤞

Nice you’re all down for it. Am sure it will be well appreciated.
I like the blues way more than the reds down here. A certain Hunnish arrogance about the Liverpool fans for my liking. Not all of them, but the majority.
Her dad is also an Everton fan, which has helped my decision making.
I’ll email you just now. Is from a Yahoo email address. 👍

For its now six quid for a hotdog, and the pies they are all cauld,
For we prefer a sausage roll, as they are the finest in the north stand upper.
We’ll be there to give the drinks a chill, as they are all warm.
And if the teas go up to over 3 quid a cup, then the board room we will all storm!
Then the board room we will all storm!
Yes! I was a bit bored. 😂👍

Thought it was interesting that there didn’t seem to be any Boardroom presence on Sunday’s flag day celebrations.

I`d be very surprised if the Huns did that but not because of any sense of decency. The media has painted Ukraine as victims in this `invasion` by the terrible Russians and the Huns will accept that view as readily as many others do.
