OH HYEON-GYU is heading for the Celtic exit with reports from Belgium insisting it’s only a “matter of time” before he seals a move to Genk.
The South Korean international striker is seen as surplus to requirements by Brendan Rodgers and his time at the champions is coming to a halt, as CQN stated in May.
Oh cost £2million when Ange Postecoglou bought him from K-League outfit Suwon Bluewings in January 2022 and the powerhouse frontman scored six goals in his first five months at Parkhead.
MAKING A POINT…Oh Hyeon-gyu is smiles better in the 1-1 pre-season draw with Ayr United.
However, he became a bit-part player after the arrival of Rodgers just over a year ago. The 23-year-old forward made just three league starts in his 20 appearances last season and didn’t even make the subs’ bench in the Scottish Cup Final win over Rangers on May 25.
The marksman signed a five-year deal when he joined the champions, but that is now likely to be cut short. He scored just five goals last time around.
The Hoops appear to have come to an agreement to sell Oh to Belgian Pro League side Genk, according to a report in the Scottish Sun.
Local journalist Sacha Tavolieri insisted: “KRC Genk currently closing the deal with Celtic for Hyeon-Gyu Oh.
“Matter of time.”
HAMPDEN HERO…Adam Idah snaps up the Scottish Cup winner as he leaves scrambling Ibrox keeper Jack Butland helpless.
A fee around the £4million mark has been mentioned and Rodgers knows he will have to add to that to entice Norwich City to part with Scottish Cup matchwinner Adam Idah who netted nine goals in his 19 appearances on loan after arriving in January.
New Carrow Road boss Johannes Hoff Thorup is adamant he wants the opportunity to evaluate his striker before making any decision on his future.
However, a fee of around the £7million mark for the 23-year-old Republic of Ireland international attack-leader should get the deal over the line.
