McCANN BREAKS A CONFIDENCE BY NAMING CELTIC

DUNDEE boss Neil McCann claims the club have rejected a Celtic bid for centre-half Jack Hendry. This old news was reported on CQN weeks ago and since then Celtic have resisted the opportunity to submit a second offer.

The former Sky pundit is clearly getting a little desperate and today broke a confidence in an attempt to shift the player for an inflated valuation.

Yesterday Brendan Rodgers revealed that Celtic had turned down a bid for Moussa Dembele but didn’t dream of revealing the name of the bidding club. It would lack class to do so, McCann.

The 22-year-old Dundee defender has impressed Brendan Rodgers with his displays against the champions this season.

McCann said: “I would think there would be more interest in the player.

“But clearly they were told it wasn’t enough and that will be the message if it continues in that vein.

“There’s been a bid, a low bid, very low, but nothing since.”

Hendry has made 28 appearances for the Dens Park outfit since joining on a two-year contract from Wigan in August.

He had previously been loaned to Shrewsbury Town and MK Dons after joining Wigan from Partick Thistle.

The Hoops paid £1million for German centre-back Marvin Compper, 32, from RB Leipzig earlier this month, but he will be out for a month with injury.

Danish stopper Erik Sviatchenko has been loaned back to his former club FC Midtjylland until the end of the season.
