McCoist at odds with hero Whyte

979

We all know Craig Whyte doesn’t get nearly enough credit for the wonderful job he is doing for Scottish football but his cause was not helped by rookie manager, Ally McCoist, who when asked today if Nikica Jelavic asked to leave Rangers said, “No he didn’t, not at all. I have a wonderful relationship with Nikica. He never said that.”

The Rangers manager then passed the buck onto the unfairly beleaguered club owner, telling STV, “We received a bid from Everton which Craig [Whyte] found acceptable. Therefore business was done.”

McCoist refused to take a manager’s responsibility for deciding who leaves the football club.  Craig Whyte made it clear to all concerned yesterday that Nikica Jelavic wanted to leave Rangers and there was no point keeping a player who didn’t want to be there.  Whyte needs the backing of everyone with the best interests of Scottish football at heart, including his manager.  The intrusive scrutiny he has been placed under in recent months will not help him achieve his objectives.

Whyte hasn’t put a foot wrong so far, we should all mind our own business and let him get on with his job. Eye on the prize, Craig.

Not at all sure that Keevins has got the Newco admission right. He’s usually poor on detail.

Apart from that there is clearly a gathering media campaign to smooth the way for a phoenix FOD’s re-admission.

The arguments against re-admission are utterly compelling. We must stop this bandwagon in its tracks.

  3. Thomas on Synde, how do you do this (to Keevins), ‘…it’s paid for my two daughters’ weddings..’

Grooooss presumption, Mr Whyte has to pay a substantial sum…’ Delahunt cut the guy off, it appears that they’ve nolw introduced a new policy

    DON’T ASK DON’T TELL!!!!!

  4. Not sure about anyone else but I get the impression Jim Delahunt has enjoyed himself on Clyde this weekend with a few wee twisted barbs re Billionaire, not millionaire owners, a quiet wee dig at Traynor and a few wee others. He does cut off callers from time to time – not sure if there is a timing filter and he hears a wee bit more than us but he’s as being as professional as he needs to be with a wee bit of merriment thrown in,

He’s being getting wee digs into the huns all week.

And he seems to know a bit about the FTT tribunal.

He’s not a Tim though, he supports Kilmarnock.

Maybe Eric Riley could find out.

  11. Paul67,

Good articles today, I agree that this game tomorrow could be one of the hardest to negotiate but I am hoping that we have the right attitude from the first minute and a robust team out there.

I don’t think Emilio is quite at the required level for this type of game yet and would not play him tomorrow because this game is a biggie in the context of what we want to do this season. There is also the small matter of revenge for last season.

I am on a bit of a health kick at the mo (it is that time of the year and indeed Fat Bhoys Slim 3!) and planned to walk into town tomorrow to meet up with fellow CQNers, catch the game at The Admiral and have a few beers. The hope is that the walk then negates the beers!!

I am doing this with Smashing Milk Bottles (SMB), Mrs CRC and another pal. Anyway SMB came up with his very first ever good idea and suggested that we should turn this into a good cause and try and raise some money for the Vanessa Riddle appeal.

Our team of 4 will walk a total of 39.6 miles (Mrs CRC now doing the full walk), with my individual walk amounting to 9.5 miles (I will also no doubt have to carry SMB on my shoulders when he tires). Our green walk will be completed irrespective of Hail (Hail), snow or rain!

Although its an entertaining sideshow, and it’s great to see P67 working with renewed vigour

I actually hope Rangers manage to limp their way to the end of the season!!

What i don’t want is any spin or any distorted history written about Neil Lennon’s Celtic sides ( hopefully) treble winning season being diminished by the imminent collapse of Rangers!

If he manages the treble ( a long way to go but a definite possibility) then it will be down to good management of a talented young squad, NOT DEFAULT as I’m sure the LL will report!!

Is Barcabhoy on RTC the same person as Barcabhoy on here? Stating that 2 celtic directors have emphasised that, to paraphrase, Celtic will not play against a newco re-instated into the SPL – don’t underestimate the lengths to which Celtic will go to ensure fairness?

I saw a photograph (black & white) of him some years ago in a Sunday newspaper playing for his RC Primary school team. I thought it was a Paisley school but could be wrong. I noticed an obituary in the Herald a couple of weeks ago for his sister who was a nun.

He was Scotsport presenter remember and when that went he ended up on Clyde. He is presenting a show where he has to deal with a range of opinions and he can’t be too obvious but the time to do damage and make mischief is when your enemy is divided and not united. He has being sowing the seeds of mischief all week.

The way back after liquidation is surely “a long and winding road” and “it ain’t easy” especially without a brother in sight. Apoligies for mixed songs instead of the usual metaphors.

Way back from adminstration? Different kettle of fish. Not convinced they can get it sorted, but, in theory, if they can get into and outof admin within a brief space of time, dependent upon creditors of course, they could get away with a 10 point penalty + the resulting financial turmoil. Difficult, but it keeps them in business. Doubt if that is a good fit with the MBB’s plan for self preservation.

Murray has created the scenario and doesn’t want to be involved with the inevitable result. CW will happily take the flak and walk away with a profit. Murray still seems to care about his reputation, or what he percieves it should be. CW seems more concerned about his wealth, or what he percieves it should be i.e. I have none, but will happily skin it from others – the more gullible, the better.

RFC not gone, yet, though I live in hope. CW – he is gone, but afraid on his own terms and profit, unless someone can invoke a legal process to stop his obvious maschinations.

Maybe his past will come back to haunt him. Re. his purported “off the radar wealth” has anyone identified his position on the Forbes list? Outside Scotland they are regarded as having a pretty good understanding of the world’s wealthy and can usually back it up.

RFC’s demise could possibly make him a millionare, their continued existence would make him even poorer than he is now.

Trying not to be optimist nor pessimist, just a realist.

Don’t have a clue, but live in hope CSC.

    Cheers

Tims in the media can’t quite come on waving an Irish flag and constantly asserting their Celtic credentials.Hugh Keevins gives me the heebie jeebies. Peter Martin (McGuire) is a soup taker as you say. If you have to change your name in order to become acceptable to these people then the jobs not worth having. Jim Delahunt, in my opinion, comes into a different category and I wouldn’t accuse him of being a souptaker.

    ………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..

I agree about Delahunt. I remember when he did the, opinion spot on STV with, Gerry McNee and, almost every week McNee who, in that time of the early 90’s was a, hurting Tim just like myself, would be going on about…how the Celtic fans have to wake-up re: where our club was heading whilst, the LL were too busy eulogising about all things hun. For me, Delahunt knew that McNee was desperate for the Celtic fans to, take action that would see the eventual ousting of the board before it was too late. During that period, McNee appeared on a question of sport programme on STV and, quickly realised that, the audience was, ‘carefully’ selected when he answered one of the questioners by saying that – “It’s quite obvious that there are more plants than the botanic gardens in here!”

Some of the media were determined that, McNee was ostracised as a, carrier of a club medal from Celtic FC after, McNee was reduced to putting on display a medal which held great personal value from, the late Jimmy McGrory to, somehow try and explain to disgruntled Celtic fans that, Gerry wasn’t anti-Celtic but, was trying to bring awareness to Celtic fans of the peril our club was in!

On a personal note…investigative journalism died when Gerry McNee hung up his pen for the last time. How relieved I have been since the emergence of…Paul 67, Phil Mac and RTC.
