McCOWAN ON BRINK, YANG GETS NOD

LUKE McCOWAN is standing by for his first Scotland international call-up – at the age of 27.

The all-action midfielder, who joined Celtic in a £1million move from Dundee on August deadline day, will discover tomorrow if he has done enough to impress Scots supremo Steve Clarke.

The squad for the UEFA Nations League double-header against Greece is due to be announced and late developer McCowan is being tipped as an outsider to gatecrash the player pool.

The first leg is due in Pireas a week on Thursday, March 20, with the return at Hampden three days later on Sunday.

JOY BHOYS…Luke McCowan is hoping for a Scotland call-up while Yang Hyun-jun has just been named for South Korea’s World Cup double-header.

McCowan has been impressive since joining his boyhood heroes and made another impactful appearance as a substitute for skipper Callum McGregor yesterday when he set up the clinching goal for Adam Idah in the 2-0 win over Hibs to book a place in the Scottish Cup semi-final.

Anthony Ralston and Greg Taylor both missed the match against the Edinburgh club, but could figure in Clarke’s plans.

Idah is likely to be in the Republic of Ireland squad for their games against Bulgaria with his Hoops team-mate Johnny Kenny also hopeful of getting a place.

One Celt who WILL be involved in international action for his country is Yang Hyun-jun who has already been named in the South Korea squad for their World Cup home double-header against Oman and Jordan.

The 22-year-old winger’s recent form – with four goals and five assists in seven games – was enough to put him in line to add to his three caps.

TREBLE AHEAD AS MAEDA, IDAH STRIKE
