Friendly games are all about building match sharpness while hopefully avoiding injury. Celtic were given an excellent opportunity to shape up against Real Madrid last night but a suspected broken jaw to Dylan McGeouch who was knocked unconscious will set the player back several weeks.
Henrik Larsson spectacularly returned to action after a double jaw break after three weeks in 2003, scoring with a header within minutes although he walked off the field after his injury without additional complications. We wish Dylan a speedy recovery and hope to see him in Champions League action next month.

Get well soon Dylan…
Bring on the Swedes…
Paul 67 –
Good luck to the Bhoy. Dylan is one of several bright prospects at the club just now.
And that’s just as well as Celtic don’t have a queue of billionaires desperate to invest in our club…

‘A friend asked me if I could recommend books on the Spanish Civil War’
Depends on what he/she is after.
I’d start with Laurie Lee’s, As I Walked Out One Midsummer Morning which gives a flavour of aspects of life in Spain before the war.
Then Paul Preston’s, A Concise History of The Spanish Civil War. You can’t go wrong with any of Preston’s books about Spain.
And check out BBCiPlayer and you tube. There’s a lot of good stuff on there.

We all wish young Dylan a speedy and pain free recovery.

It’s all ok then! Judas II only signed 1 contract, his EBT was legal, and it wasn’t like he took performance enhancing drugs. No titles to strip them!
Just love the way the MSM set up the question, to allow the party line to be spouted out.. Even ex-hun Trevor Steven looked uneasy.
Blind arrogance!!
Stupid, stupid, cheating huns

Hopefully Dylan can make as quick a return to action as Henrik did, but it looks as if it will take several weeks more.
Wish the bhoy a full and speedy recovery, and I am sure he will come back a better player and equiped to take his chance in claiming a regular place in the side.

CRC, McCann kept going on about it being the same Rangers. Tanner should have asked then, “Pay your debts then!” But Tanner is a soup drinker too.
Why did the Rangers fans at the back end of last season have a protest “show liquidation the red card”
Green has already said prior to CVA that “we need a CVA or else its liquidation and loss of history”
These quotes need to be asked to McCann live on TV

Now I’m getting old, older than I would ideally wish and faster than I would want but I thought that Henrik’s return from a Bobo poleaxing, was against Liverpool and his first goal was off his shin.
I can’t remember the details exactly but I think it came across from BBJ on the right, returned by Thommo on the left and on the back of circa 59,000 people sucking and blowing and praying….Henrik realised that a conventional shot would be saved……wisely he used his shin!
Could be wrong mind you!
Hail hail

I liked the way Dylan took the game to Madrid on a few occasions last night, he played without fear. I hope he has a speedy recovery and we see him in the first team soon.
Feisty game with 2 of the cash rich teams down south. 15 million for jack who ? How much is Paddy worth then :-)

Thank you for taking the time to recommend those books. One of the reasons I love this blog is the endless source of knowledge offered by friendly Tims.
Why don’t we call them the Gordie Juniors?
Makes sense to me.

Estadio, youre right, Henrik scored a shinner against Liverpool in first few mins. The injury was early in a game against Livingston by a guy called Bahoken i believe!

His first goal after he broke his jaw was with his head.
As I remember it the ball was about chest high so he had to put his head in the danger zone to score.
Balls of steel.

As I said some things are hazy, but the Liverpool goal, the shin, the crowd and the move are indelible.
It is the first time that I can really remember a crowd scoring by proxy.
In fact BBJ nearly scored first, but we all wanted Henrik to do it…3 minutes I think it was after just four weeks out with a double jaw break.
