McGeouch suffers in friendly test

824

Friendly games are all about building match sharpness while hopefully avoiding injury.  Celtic were given an excellent opportunity to shape up against Real Madrid last night but a suspected broken jaw to Dylan McGeouch who was knocked unconscious will set the player back several weeks.

Henrik Larsson spectacularly returned to action after a double jaw break after three weeks in 2003, scoring with a header within minutes although he walked off the field after his injury without additional complications.  We wish Dylan a speedy recovery and hope to see him in Champions League action next month.

Normally i would never wish injury on any player no matter what team they played for but i make an exception for people like him and Elbows

Black is a total thug on and off the park. The sight of him sitting in the stand while costing Green £6500 a week would be karma imo

I find you have to make your own peace with your mistakes in life. Take what they’ve cost you. Learn from them. But by God, you have to admit them first. Especially to yourself.

That’s why the nonsense going on with them just now is rank. And Lo! and Behold!, the press boys are tripping over themselves to peddle the briefs they’ve been given.

Apologies for the delay in replying – dinner beckoned!

You are right in pointing out what sort of ‘people’ we are dealing with here: the dregs of a society that they have shamed for over a century! The ‘songs’ that were sung yesterday is just the latest chapter in a never ending saga of hate and bile directed at anyone and everyone who is not one of ‘them’!

We all remember their first game after going into admin – against Kilmarnock – when all the old favourites were wheeled out. Result – one arrest out of a crowd of 50k: a 17 year old!

Legislation is now in place to deal with this sort of behaviour, but it is a joke!

They will continue to disgrace themselves as the season progresses, but dont expect the msm to report on it. That will be the duty of the ‘internet bampots’!

Black has never earned anything close to that amount as a weekly wage in his entire career – and he definitely isn’t earning anything like that with Sevco. Trust me.

  10. To be fair Alyosha and Father Zosima, the Elder are both saintly characters- but you’re right that most of the characters are quite manipulative and treacherous- but then is that not what most average people can be like? Dostoyevsky has been criticised by some, most famously Isaiah Berlin, as a pessimist who peddled a very dark and negative view of human nature.

Wait to you get to the “The Grand Inquisitor” section of the book…its hard work but nonetheless an incredibly surreal vision of the Catholic Church…if you are at all sensitive to criticism of Catholicism then it might be tough going…Dostoyevsky seemed to be an advocate of the Anti-Christ interpretation of the book of Revelation…seven hills bladabladabla…y’know all that Millenarianism crap you get in radical Protestantism. But then Pope Benedict XVI is a big fan of the book…so maybe it is just my own take on his ideas.

It can’t be disputed that he is alongside Tolstoy the greatest novelist the world has ever seen.

What is the best novel Anna Karenina or Brothers Karamazov? Who was the greatest writer? Tolstoy is in my opinion the superior technical writer but Dostoyevsky’s intensity is very modern and so in some ways a more timeless style.

Still get problems with all those fecking Russian names like Count Alexei Alexandrovich Karenin and Katerina Ivanovna Verkhovtseva…still drives me nuts and I’ve been reading them since I was a teenager.

Waiting on my dinner getting put out or thrown at me by my lovely offspring so just a quick reply.

Read most of the ‘classics’ but for some reason had always put off The Karamazov Brothers.

I won’t comment on Zossima and Alyosha as I have severe trouble with there apparent saintliness and naivety. Time will tell.

Translations are so difficult. The meaning of words are as the author envisaged and even the best interpreters get that sometimes woefully wrong. If you ever read some of the manic depressive Solzhenitsyn’s critiques of his translators you’ll know what I mean.

    Great-sounding camping experience.

We went south this year, all the way to Burgundy, but there is serious interest in taking the old Vango to the north of Scotland.

I am a late convert to camping, but I think what I like best about it is that life becomes very simple. Take away their usual distractions and weans are happy to read, laugh, talk, cook, clear up (although not so much), and spend time with siblings and parents all day and all night. Sharing space leads to sharing lots beside.

    I love it.

I wouldn’t normally wish ill on any Celtic player, but I’ll make an exception. Charlie, I wish upon you a minor injury on Wednesday morning. Something that will have cleared up by Thursday. A stubbed toe, perhaps. Or a cough.

“More than 5,000 Irish citizens fought with the Allies in the Second World War.

Many died, and those who did return were punished.Their names were circulated on a secret list, and they were deprived of jobs, housing, and wefare.

As John Waite reports, the fight for justice goes on.”

  27. observations from looking back:

if we aint going to get better players than those already at the club, then lets not bother.

we do have decent young players and i do think NFL will play them

still think there are to many squad players in the squad and think boys like thomson, murphy, paddy and bangurra should be moved on. dont think we should let K. wilson go if we cant get better.

i would be happy to see ki leave the club because he appears to be half way out the door and only has 18 months left on his contract.

its a bit concerning that the celtic triangle # phase 1 and 3 will not be ready for the commonwealth games and no timeline is given for the completion of the work. this is particularly the case when i hear we are not signing anyone, we have got short of about 10 first teamers and are looking to sell ki for 7 million +, while we will be sure of at least 6 million for e/l participation.

my math aint that good but surely celtic’s finances should be good enough to have the work done within 18 months/ 2 years, for god sake, they knowe about the commonwealths games bid several years ago!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  28. Good to see that young Dylan won’t be out for as long as I feared.

Scotland squad? Hope all of our players pull out. We have important games to play – and it will be nice to give a few lower league players the chance of a big game.
