McGEOUCH’S TESTING YEAR

DYLAN McGEOUCH, who spent last season on loan at Hibs, will be given another year to impress Ronny Deila.
The 22-year-old midfielder is out of contract, but the Celtic boss has taken up the option to extend his stay by another 12 months.
Easter Road boss Alan Stubbs admitted he wanted to sign the player on a permanent deal after watching him make 26 appearances and score three goals as Hibs came in in second place in the Championship, with only city rivals Hearts in front of them.

Former Hoops defender Stubbs said: “I think Celtic have taken his option up of another year, which I can see why.
“They’ve obviously been impressed with his performances for us last season.”

Stubbs said that he had made it very clear just how much he rates the midfielder, but that there is little the club can do when Celtic were in control of the player’s future.

He added: “If there was an opportunity I could bring him here, I would like to do that. But he’s effectively on a one-year contract at Celtic now.

“He was great when he was here and I think everybody knows what I thought of him. He’s a really good player, but he’s Celtic’s player.”

McGeouch is aware he is leaving the opportunity of regular first-team football at Easter Road in order to have perhaps a final shot at making a career at the Glasgow giants.

The player made 15 appearances in the 2012-13 season for the SPFL champions, but has mainly been on the periphery of the first team squad since then.
Now he is hoping he gets a chance under Ronny Deila after his impressive form in the Championship last season.
