If you’ve not been following the work being done in your name in Malawi this week, do so here. 20 people arrived from Scotland early this week on behalf of the Celtic Foundation to renovate six centres which feed children ages five and under. They are also building a latrine (pretty sure this is a toilet) at one of the centres.
It’s another remarkable testament to the ethos of Celtic 127 years after the project started.
The Foundation are in Malawi with Mary’s Meals, the remarkable Scottish charity which is feeding hundreds of thousands of the world’s poorest children each day. By careful management of costs, utilisation of volunteers and ‘vocational’ staff, a remarkably high 93% of their revenue reaches those in need on the ground.
Really good to read Callum McGregor speaking to Celtic media. Not that he had anything particularly illuminating to say, but he was speaking after putting in a training session, confirming his return to fitness.
With the injury to James Forrest, Callum was one of the few bright lights in our early season form, opening the scoring in three consecutive European away games. He even shone in the inept Murryfield performance against Legia.
At the Hearts game last month I overheard someone suggest Callum needed a rest. His form had definitely dipped, which is not uncommon after young players sparkly when first breaking into the team. If he stayed fit there’s little chance he would have been rested for any of the recent games, such has been the form of those around him, so maybe his recent illness came at the right time.

Ah BT that explains a lot, those smart arsed Dubs are always causing trouble.
Every goal scored by Paul, for Celtic, was obviously like Winning the Lottery.

Imatim, I happen to know BT and if BT says WITS is a Tim, then WITS is a Tim.
………………………………
How many Tims do you know post this type of thing.
From the other night from WITS……how many Tims would make reference to what is contained in his posts.
Read carefully…in the space of a couple of sentences he makes reference to….
“I never get tired of reading it”
“Never”
……………….
Then it’s……..
“Love that thing twitter now “wee fergus knew”
……………………….
And then to cap it off……………..
What about the scene “we’ll take the blacks and the chinks but we dont want the Irish”
………………………………
And this is a TIM?

Last night as he looked back on a decade as Rangers’ owner – come this Sunday, the 22nd, it will be 10 years since he paid Lawrence Marlborough £6 million for the club – Murray’s desire to avoid the miseries of another barren season could not be disputed.
To hear him speak was to listen to a man who believes himself to be charged with some kind of great and mighty mission. Murray, who chose to talk only to the Record about his dreams and ambitions for Rangers, said: “No one should doubt that Rangers are the biggest club in the country, but I know that talk is cheap in this business and that we will have to prove just how big we are.
“That doesn’t really bother me because as long as I am able to influence this club we will be the biggest and we will be the best. “I have spent 10 years of my life, and I know that sometimes I gave up too much of myself to Rangers, but I am not about to give up now.
“Neither am I willing to stand aside and allow another club to overtake Rangers. The failure of last season hurt me a lot and that pain was something I didn’t need nor want.
“It is also a pain which I never want to suffer again, but by God that sort of thing just makes me even more determined to succeed. I am still as driven, still as enthusiastic and I will welcome the challenge of anyone out there.”

If there was only one poster on CQN I’d have picked not to buy it, then it would have been you Mr C :-0)
There’s civil unrest and there’s very uncivil unrest, and since Rangers died in 2012 we have witnessed all kinds of civil unrest.
You can be in polite mixed company that used to wax lyrical about the SPL but now goes suddenly stone ‘dead ’ at the mention of ‘the football’, that’s civil unrest. It’s unrestful every day in Glasgow, there are people suffering football hell, and are like pent up coils of anger, pretending to be happy whilst joining in with the tribute act, buying tickets for the Rugby because it’s at Ibrox, Blackthorn Cider, and betting with A32.red. The are nice Church of Scotland respectable peepil, amazed that it’s now x number of years since “we” came out of administration?
There’s also plenty Celtic fans that have suffered physical violence since Rangers demised.
Celtic fans do not have a grievance ‘the peepil’ think that they have. If you can find a neutral in Glasgow, they are dreading their return, and two glimpses have been under 18 games.
Who cares what Peter Lawell says on behalf of Celtic, and how the story was unfolded that years of ‘victory’ were as we suspected, years of unadulterated, unbridled cheating. Does it matter what Dermot Desmond says – in between golf breaks?
Custodians of the club have a public duty to protect every Celtic fan, and unsubtle jibes are unhelpful dangerous, and a pure waste of time. We need not be subservient, or suffer from their air brushing, nothing can change history regardless of how many Rangers we end up with, or how they are referred to.
The official Celtic opinion of liquidation, is in the dictionary under liquidation.

I don’t think so atm, but that could change though.
ImaTim, I don’t know if you saw Blazing Saddles it was full of politically incorrect stuff but it was bloody funny. I don’t know WITS at all but I have met BT and OldTim and if they know him which they obviously do, then he is a Tim albeit he is pulling a few people’s chains on here.
WiTS End
Doc,
Agree with you there, just no happy he keeps his tips to himself, but certainly a Tim,although like you i think he is wrong on this issue
WITS has been on here for years.
Never had reason to doubt he is a Tim albeit a West Brit Tim. :-) Nae offence meant WITS.

I agree with both your posts @ 13.07 and 13.12.
BTW by digging in against the media coordinated anti Celtic spin doesn’t mean that I believe that Ronny is a faultless manager.
He is the Celtic manager who clearly has ample in house challenges to cope with, never mind the radio shows, the ex player articles, the editorializing by Jackson and others – all of which conclude with an explicit or implied attack on the club. These people have no interest in whether RD is a success or even in the welfare of Celtic. Their behaviour serves their own personal agenda, or coincides with the interests of other cultural forces in Scotland. I’ll paraphrase Johnny Divers comment to a journalist years ago – “There are many footballer managers who could become journalists, but no journalists who could become football managers.”
No other club in Scotland is subject to the same level of criticism or analysis. Once again, the playing field for Celtic is not level, and when that happens…well I dig in.
If some had their way, WGS would never have been appointed and NFL was a cheap, emotional and inexperienced choice for manager. Both men could easily have walked away when faced with the identically hostile climate within which they had to work as manager of Celtic. Instead, both men dug in and the experience actually made them stronger, which benefitted Celtic.
I want Ronny to succeed for obvious reasons, but when others gleefully stick the boot into my club, then I push back. As a result, I also want Ronny to succeed to stick it to these people.
The distraction factor is also alive and well in Scotland. The media focus should be on SFA incompetence and mismanagement: it should be on the Battle of the Barra Boys at Sevco: it should even be on the attempt by RD to change a culture that would ultimately benefit Scottish football.
I hope this experience makes Ronny as strong as it made previous Celtic managers.

Now that really was naughty. :-)
Had a whisper about 2 weeks ago, for a horse due to run in a Sedgefield bumper – reportedly performing very well at home.
It didn’t run at Sedgefield – don’t know why.
Hopefull is running in the last at Carlisle today, and at a huge price. (Hopeful is how I feel about most of my bets). I have a small e.w. bet on at 40s.
Anyway, just passing this on for anyone who may be interested.

Thanks, likewise, picking up the wee man tomorrow mid day but we will see.
Im not entirely sure whats going on anymore with my team. Im 34 years young and this team is the worst in my lifetime, even worse than the 90’s. We were supposed to be streets ahead of the filth when they shamefully and inevitably made it back to the SPL but instead we are finding new depths of rubbishness ourselves. Poor players, poor manager, poor scouting, poor attendances………………. poor everything. In my opinion, its no longer good enough to say the Lawell is doing a great job because of how our club is doing compared the oldco/sevco/coco whatever???. The club is in a mess. Guidetti not signed in time to make the UEFA cup, Green Brigade put on the naughty step until after the election result, our pathetic handling of the Legia debacle. Mr Lawell needs to vacate the premises and take DD with him. These are money men…………..not celtic men. In the week that the Livingston chap was forced to resign because he had the audacity to state the bloody obvious about newco, another week goes by where the powers that be at Parkhead sit on the asses and say nothing. In this past 2 years i think we have all learned to accept that there will always be a team playing out of Ibrox but my only wish is that somebody……………anybody………………seriously will come out and force Regan/SFA to state the truth. For good people to have to lose their jobs because they speak the truth is loathsome. Time for Lawell to earn his huge bonus and grow a pair. Time to do whats right.

Do you think Ronny is a good manager ?
I believe he is a better manager than you or I and has already proved that much…so quite happy to allow him time to show it. Players often take a while to settle so why not managers ?
We have lost games due to poor marking / decision making or missing good chances….neither can be 100% blamed on the management.
Like EVERY manager he has made tactical errors and will again…but deserves the chance to prove himself.
We have been further behind in the title race than this under others – yet the outcry for a change wasn’t so loud.
Referring to yer man as a hun troll is

Look this is my opinion
The board started downsizing/cutting back/not investing in football players a few years back
I think we can all agree on that
The downsizing went in to overdrive when Rangers died.
It nearly cost us a Champions League place last season (Kargandy, phew)
When Neil Lennon was told there was more downsizing to come he walked,(as did Samaras and Ledley when they weren’t offered new contracts or at least what they considered realistic contracts)
The board then had a problem, what manager could they get to work on the wages offered and the budget offered
They pull Ronny out of a hat along with some propaganda about what a bright upcoming manager he is with revolutionary ideas about how to play fast attacking football.
All nonsense
Ronny is not up to it,Celtic are in for a rocky ride
As fans we can do two things,(1) Support the team no matter what, thats admirable and honourable and generally what fans do or (2) Make their displeasure at the way the club is being run (down) known wherever and whenever they can
I have said It before and will say it again, appointing Ronny was an insult to every Celtic fan
Got to get back to FF now

I think the Board are putting Faith in their systems that Tommy B started.
If we don’t try and Ajax it now, we are unlikely to ever to do it because of the populace and the, and Hugh Keevins is right, old firm iti§.
Ronny D is the Man.
Sadly, it’s become part of the fabric of CQN to accuse someone of being a hun if their opinion differs from someone else’s.
Wits, I do think we get your point, however.
